Le Cellier is my second favorite park eatery, and I'm surprised I don't rate it higher in the individual categories because overall the experience is excellent. The menu is good, not terribly varied, but it is a steakhouse afterall. Service and value are the same - very good, not perfect, but very servicable for a themepark meal. The theme throws many off, but I totally enjoy it. It's not THAT dark, it's just that there isn't a great deal of outside light making it in, and the interior lighting is all artificial. It's a very nice break from the rest of the park. It's not really aimed at kids, but as with virtually all WDW eateries they certainly won't be out of place. The only true complaint I have about Le Cellier is portion size. I ordered the filet mignon with cream cheese mashed potatoes (the potatoes are to DIE for!), and it's a HUGE white plate with a small piece of filet and a drop of potato under it. I had expected the filet to be small, but there was so little potato it was hidden under the steak. I know we all need less carbs in our lives - but it was like a cruel trick, hehe. I'd expect to get at least one potato's worth, and I'd say the serving is about 1/2 a medium sized potato. Instead of asking for more mashed, I got a side of the potato salad, which was very good (very onion-filled and everything is chopped very large), but no something I'd get again. The steak itself was adequately sized, but I got a better and larger cut of filet mignon at Brown Derby a few days later (that was cheaper) and was surprised how much better it was. As everyone says, the real star of the show is the breadsticks - I recomend everyone in your party tries a bite of each one, then asking for more of your favorites when the waiter returns with your drinks (if you desire). I am not a pretzel fan, but I did enjoy the pretzel bread - though the sourdough was my favorite.
Sci-Fi is really one of those places you have to try at least once. The unique atmosphere is enough to make it worth it, in spite of several less than stellar features. To begin with, the menu is rather limited - and you are best to steer clear from the "fanicier" sounding dishes. Sci-Fi is best reccomended as a burger/onion ring meal or just dessert after a meal elsewhere. The burgers are great, and so are the rings and shakes - but that's about all I can reccomend from the food I've seen/eaten there. The service is a bit spotty, but still good - I chalk a lot of that up to the non-traditional seating and darkness of the restaurant. It's just harder to flag down a waitress (or give them that "look" that you need something) because of the enviornment. The portion size is also adequate - I wouldn't rate it as huge but certainly enough to satisfy most people. It's a hit or miss with kids - either they absoultely love it or they hate it. The novelty of eating in cars amuses most - but the dark atmosphere is a bit too much for some kids. The movie screen doesn't show anything terrifying (you aren't going to see the alien from the Alien films), just clips from old "classic" Sci-Fi films from the 40's/50's (Plan 9 from Outer Space, Attack of the 50ft Woman, etc.). I had to give it an overall "excellent" only because the theme makes it worth it; however, I'll add the caveat that it's only excellent for a burger or dessert - anything else and I'd have a hard time even giving it "average".
Brown Derby is easily my favorite eatery at WDW. I rated the menu as only "good" because there isn't a huge variety - but I enjoy the dishes they do have, especially the steak cobb. The service is always stellar - I feel like a "star" when I'm there. :) The value for what you get is good - a filet mignon cobb, an appetizer, a soft beverage, usually runs me just under $30. The theming is wonderful if you enjoy that old Hollywood feeling - though younger people might not recognize many of the names/faces that grace the walls in caricatures (i.e. Joan Crawford, Lucille Ball, etc.). Overall I highly reccomend it - the food is fabulous, and the understated decor is classy and really gives you a break from the bustle of MGM. Kids are iffy - they won't be out of place, but it's not as outwardly fun for them as Sci-Fi or 50's PTC.
This is my favorite place to eat.My wife is always on a low carb diet and this restaurant caters to her as well as it caters to a carb lover like me.The German food is better them most of the German restaurants Ive been to.The entertainment is great but they should vary it a bit as it hasnt changed in years. Now sitting in a table fool of strangers is quite ackward at first but by the end of the meal everyone is yapping up a storm.Well not always but usually.
The food taste great, especially since the Louisiana chain Landrys bought them. The coconut battered shrimp rocks and my wife loves the cobb salad. If we are at Animal Kingdom we always stop bye.As far as waiters attending me Ive always had great service myself. This is largely judged by how full my tea stays and I can tell I havent gone thirsty yet and I go through large amounts of the stuff. And the adult beverages are good as well. The place is busy and if you dont have a reservation you can wait 30 min or just walk right in ,you just never know.
This resort is amazing. The attention to detail is awesome with many hidden Mickey's throughout the resort. The main pool is a bit small, but has a great wet play area for kids and plenty of rockwork with waterfalls. You have a 5 min walk to Downtown Disney and the view of the fireworks at night over Pleasure Island . If you are a golfer, there is a golf course on resort property. Some of the downsides are that the bussing is slow. The resort is not completely open, so I would blame it on that. The quantity of busses should increase when the resort fully opens. This resort could also use a signature restaurant in the future.
I really liked the themeing. The detail was typical Disney (awesome). The initial launch was intense, but I felt that the coaster started to slow down to much especially towards the end and into the last inversion.
Even though it's old, I believe in respecting Walt's wishes about keeping it around. Definitely great to catch a nap in, but if you're not sleepy, it's definitely worth a watch and listen. The song is catchy and you'll be singing it as much as "It's a Small World" lol.
One of the only rides the entire family will go on, regardless of age. I will say the long lines don't usually justify the length of the actual ride, so we usually Fastpass this along with Space Mountain. I will also say I don't do so well in this game, but we always come out of it with a smile because it's a lot of fun!
Not my favorite of the 3 mountains, but always a fun ride. I hate the loud noise in the beginning when we're ascending the mountain, but otherwise everything is good about it. We usually ride this while waiting for our Splash FP's to come around.
i love it every time i go on....this ride ties a great story in with a great ride and is a must for anyone of all ages to try out at least once on your next Disney trip
This attraction is long, but entertaining for the most part. Ellen is very funny in it, and it is worth seeing at least once. Definitely worth it to cool off and get off your feet for a while.
This is an excellent attraction at Epcot. I still find myself amazed at how life-like the audio-animatronics look! They have swift and fluid movements and look real. I also love the music. Listening to it always gives me chills! After watching this show, you'll definitely feel patriotic!!!
I only have like one problem with this ride. It's been a couple of years since the screens on the car have worked, and once we didn't even hear the audio, so we had to say the dialogue from memory lol. The ride is great fun though and we always go on it!
A true classic at Epcot! Very relaxing, and very informative. The only problem is that it can feel kind of rough sometimes. But after 20 or so years, that's to be expected. A rehab is in order for that aspect and perhaps the ending. Otherwise, it's just a wonderful ride.
This is truly an intense ride! Especially the go-launch! However, after a few rides, the intensity kind of fades. I still enjoy riding it though.
I loved the original, and I love this version. There's plenty of Figment, and he makes it more enjoyable. There's never a line, so if you have a chance, check it out.
Nice place to rehydrate, without having to buy anything. Some of the drinks are good. Some are not. Definitely worth a look!
I liked it in the beginning, but I believe it needs some work. Definitely something you need to see though!
We always ride this because it's a nice way to get off our feet. The ride is definitely not the best at Epcot, but it's something worth seeing at least once.
I love this ride, but I can ride this at the local fair. It's a lot of fun, but I rode in one of the seats by myself and basically got thrown around the seat and hurt my derriere. Oh well, I'll still ride it!
I really wish I wore a poncho when I rode it last. Thanks to this ride, I spent over $100 on a new outfit!! Anyway, the ride is fun, but it doesn't last too long so it's not too good.
Was one of the best experiences on Mission Space we have had. Would definitely do this ride again and again. The wait was less than 2 ninutes. Walked right one via standby. Was amazing!
Being a fan of the Twilight Zone and Disney-MGM Studios just makes this ride even better.
This new attraction seems to be the favourite for everyone to bash, but not me. I went on this attraction about 5 times during my last WDW visit, and my impression at first was good, but the more times I saw it, the more I enjoyed it. My single biggest piece of advice is to not form an opinion on the attraction until you have actuallyy experienced it for yourself. Don't jump on the "hate SGE" bandwagon just because you think it's popular to do so. The attraction is really quite good and highly underrated. Experience it for yourself before judging. As for the show itself, I found that, most of the time, the line moves quickly and the theming makes standing in line very tolerable. The preshow I found to be hillarious and very enjoyable, not at all foreboding (which AE fans miss, but I view as a welcome change.) The show itself is highly entertaining and cute, with stitch toying with you and generally causing mischief. You do get a little wet. In my experience most guests were laughing and screaming (in a good way) on this attraction. I only saw a few people who had a beef with this ride in person, though they were certainly more vocal in their protests than people who like the ride in their approval. The script is cute and funny, with a few one liners that will stick with you all day. The chili-dog scent will also stay with you, in your nose, so watch out! I came away from this one grinning every time. Take it from me, it's not as bad as they say. A lot of these folks just have sour grapes because they liked AE and are upset that SGE replaced it. So take that into account, and enjoy the show for YOURSELF!
Sorry, but this is one show I can live without. I like certain shows around the World, but not this. The acrobatics are cool, but it just doesn't appeal to me. However, the kids will definitely love it. I'd go only for my little cousin, but that's it.
My favorite attraction at Animal Kingdom, this is certainly using newer technology with the EMV's. I'm not going to try to pretend I know about all that technical stuff, so suffice it to say that the ride is very cool. Many parts take place in the dark, so watch the little ones. My little cousin handled Tower of Terror and Space Mountain well, but this ride did end up scaring her.
Not one of my favorite 3-D shows. However, it is cute and a lot of fun, especially when you get poked in the back lol. Could scare little kids so beware...oh and beware the stink bug lol.
This is another one that I wish were longer! I regret not having experienced this attraction before, but now that I have, I will make it a point to visit it whenever I'm at MGM. It's an exact replica of the real show, minus the money prizes, but hey you can win cool stuff anyway, including a Disney cruise!! I think the hosts do a great job, but one in particular (Michael) is top notch. The guy I saw after him was dull in comparison, no offense. I will keep going back and hopefully make it into the hot seat!
I recently saw the show again after a long hiatus, and it still retains its charm. I'm not too surprised it's still there after so many years, because it's fun for the whole family. Not only for the little kids, but for all Little Mermaid lovers out there and the whole family.
I only wish this attraction were longer! Anyway, I am so glad it's random now because last time we went we were caught off guard by the changes and it just made the drops more fun!! I definitely think it can intimidate some kids but they can seriously end up loving it. My little cousin was freaking out until we were dropping again and again. She came out of the ride with a big smile on her face, as opposed to going in with a frown lol. We cannot get enough of this ride!
One of my favorites at MGM. I love everything from the trailers in the theater (especially Singin' in the Rain) to the actual ride. The CM's also make this ride a lot of fun, given that they get into it, because I've seen some that lack energy. Anyway, I wouldn't mind some changes but for the most part I greatly enjoy this attraction!
I used to greatly enjoy this attraction, but over the years have visited it when I've had the time. It's fun, but I feel it needs some tuning up.
I finally saw this show and only because Drew Carey is the main character in it. But even with this bright spot, the show seems to be missing something. I thought the idea was pretty cool, but it can get boring fast. Too bad, because in Drew Carey's show he was always innovative and he could've done so much more with this.
This is a great rollercoaster and features an awesome experince in the dark.
One of my must-dos at MGM. If you're a roller coaster fan, this is the ride for you! Not only is the coaster fun, but the fact that it's synchronized to Aerosmith music makes it 10 times better!!! My only complaint is the fact that the ride is too short, but I can deal with it. Also, this ride is obviously not for everyone. You can get a headache on this ride easily, and a lot of people can get intimidated when they see the take off of the cars in the alley (I was one of them lol). If you feel brave enough to tackle this coaster, just put your hands up, enjoy the trip, and sing along to the songs if you know them =)!
I am so glad this attraction was kept after the 100 years celebration. It is a wonderful tribute to Walt Disney and his contributions to the entertainment industry. If you haven't seen this, do so!
I just saw this show after I don't know how many years and I forgot how cute it was. The pre-show kept us laughing and the show was also a lot of fun. The only problem I see with it is that it definitely needs some updating or tuning up. Anyhoo, definitely a good show for the entire family.
This was a very colorful show with dancing and characters. There was a giant creature Mickey had to defeat. Lots of fun.
I remember the first time I rode this ride thinking to myself, "I could have had someone at the front gate hose me off and wasted less time". This ride is incredibly short and the "rapids" part of the ride are mediocre. The only reason I got wet was because of some strategically placed water jets...not from the rapids. I kept telling myself they were just building up to the main rapids...and then we rounded the corner to the unload zone. Definitely not the best rapids ride I've ever been on.
Perhaps I'm a little biased, but this is the best show on Disney property. I'm not kidding. It has been rated number one show in all of WDW. The lighting was recently revamped to go along with the enclosure last year. This is definitely a must see!
Great little show. I remember seeing this before I was a cm and loving the special effects. Shortly after being hired I had the pleasure of being a part of the cast of this show for several years. Disney has obviously done something right with this attraction since it's been there almost fifteen years!
I absolutely loved this show! I was so sad to see it end! Everytime I watched I got chills and wound up with tears in my eyes. It was a great telling of the story of Pocahontas. I wish they would resurrect this show and replace the current Pocahontas show at AK with it.
This was a very powerful show and the performers did a fantastic job.
This is my favorite parade currently running on Disney property.
This was such a fun parade! It was great to see all of the Toy Story friends!
I tried to be fair with this parade as it is one that injured myself as well as other performers. I never understood why a great parade like Hercules lasted less than a year only to be replaced by this parade which ran much longer. Apparently this one was much more popular with the guests.
From a performer's standpoint, this was the most fun parade to participate in. Unfortuantely, most guests didn't think it was as fun to watch. I still rank it up there with my top favorite parades.
This was my favorite parade at Walt Disney World! I believe it was the longest running at MGM due to it's popularity. Full of energy and fun to watch!
Like the other value resorts, this one is also worth the money. With a similar layout as AS Music and Movies, this one has a sports theme. My family personally enjoys the baseball and tennis sections. We've never found the food court to be trouble and the transportation has been efficient. Definitely recommended if you do not want to spend a lot of money on accomodations.
Being Florida Residents, we try to make it to WDW at least once a year. We love to take advantage of discounts available at the resorts, and almost always have stayed at AS Music. We absolutely love this resort and will keep going back as long as we can. The service is good, the rooms are adequate enough for us folks who need the room to sleep and shower in, and the food court is great. The theming in this resort is nice, the pools are cute for the kids to take a swim in, and we've also found the buses to be very efficient and useful for teenagers (like my siblings and I) who want to hit the parks earlier than their parents. I highly recommend this resort!!!
We go to Disney at least 4 times a year....and this is my first and LAST Value resort I would stay at. This was very bad. This is a Disney World Holiday Inn. ROOMS: Plain standard small rooms. Some theme decor...but not the best. PARKING: shared with other value resort so you have to drive for a while to find an empty space. Space may be very far from your building. FOOD COURT: To many people to even find a table. POOLS: FANTASTIC. Love the Theme and size of pools GROUNDS: very nice (as Disney always keeps them) SERVICE: Took us almost 1-hour in line to check in at 10:PM at night. So not enough employees at front desk. OVERALL: I would save my pennies and stay at a Moderate or Deluxe resort. Just not worth the money to stay here.
Very little I can add as its all been said by this attraction's other detractors. It's was a lot of good technical work spoiled by bad writing, bad staging, and shoddy planning. What makes a Disney attraction memorable is the storytelling. This has next to none. As for this being kid friendly, during the performance, I heard several kids crying and talking in a frightened way to their parents. This festering boil on Tomorrowland should be lanced quick and sent back to the drawing board. This is so beneath Disney standards that Walt's spirit should send the 999 Happy Haunts to Eisner and his cronies' bedrooms for a good old fashioned haunting!
So Disney attempted to make the Alien Encounter child friendly. Yet, they designed the show for children who, in turn, have been reported as scared by the experience. Children interviewed in the Sentinel say they'd never sit through the show again. It's entertaining, but the storyline is extensively weak. The animatronics are wonderful, but this by no means lives up to its hype. "If it can't be done with XS, then it shouldn't be done at all." ;)
Mono means one and rail means rail, as Lyle Lanley would say. Over thirty years old and these are the most futuristic looking transportation system in the world. THat's Disney Magic.
Absolutely nothing about this show was positive. Even if I hadn't hated "Lilo & Stitch," and hadn't loved AE, which I did, this still would have been abysmal. The animatronics looked okay, but not nearly as much so as I had heard. You can see better in most modern attractions. Trust me, don't waste your time on this heaping pile of cow dung.
Love everything about this ride. I also enjoy riding at night either during Spectromagic or Wishes.
This show is basically you being in a dark room with a bunch of noises. Not creative at all and extremely boring. The short wait in line was the only good part, but who knows if that's a normal wait time for it.
stitch's greatest escape is the best in disney world i will go to see this attraction.
Alright, alright, I know what you are all thinking. "This guy was a huge Alien Encounter fan, of course he's gonna bash it." My friends, that is NOT the case. As a matter of fact, I am a huge Stitch fan. He's my second favorite character, behind Goofy of course. I also loved the film Lilo and Stitch, and I watch the animated series all the time. I really, REALLY wanted to enjoy this new attraction, but I have to say that it was uncalled for. Being able to experience it ruined my entire day, mainly because it was SO BAD. And I mean bad. I could not believe what I had just experienced when those "analysis modules" rose up and it was time to exit. The entire attraction DID NOT stay true to the film. Since when does Stitch end up in MK? I surely thought it was Hawaii. The preshows were not done well, and then there's the main show....the only plus to come out of it were the animatronic cannons that follow Stitch around....those were fantastic. Overall, this is not a good attraction at all and I do feel that Walt Disney Imagineering has let us down. I hope in the near future they will take the time to fix what needs to be to make this a quality family attraction.
I hope this never leaves ,"ooh a jar of killer bees"
Great music, great effects and so relaxing after a hot day in the park.
Being very Critical here, but i still think it was an amazing show. A HUGE breakthrough for Audio-Animontronics, as Stitch was incredebly lifelike in his movements. Also, the Guns were absolutely fantastic, the movements mimicked that of the film, and made for a very life-like situation. The Story could have had more, and the Animation Movies, could have been better, but as far as special effects and audio-animontonics are consirned, this ride broke some records! Line was normal, and the show was on the shorter side, which does help keep the line moving, especially with 2 theatres. The Theaming was EXCELLENT! I Throughly enjoyed this attraction, and even though i marked it Average for Kid Friendly, that was only because of the Darkness, loud noises, and hieght requirment. MUCH better than AE was for kids. Can't wait for it to open for good soon!
Buzz Lightyear, more like Buzz REFUND!!!!! Do yourselves a favor and go on Men in Black Alien Attack. Heck, even go on the other Buzz Lightyear rides and you'll see how much of an embarassment this attraction is. The attraction is shoddily put together, garishly painted, and has an indispellable aura of cheapness. They lead you on with an amazing animatronic in the queue, and then proceed to attack you with Mr. Toad rejects from Planet Z. The attraction deserves credit for being the first of the video game style attractions, but as every year passes it looks weaker and cheaper
Loud, Obnoxious, and how can it be a surprise if everyone knows about it.......including Shan-Yu! Though I am sure glad to know that there is a trap door in the castle that leads to an underwater dungeon.
First of all, I am a huge Alien Encounter fanatic. I own every piece of merchandise associated with the attraction and it is one the things I miss most in life, such as Horizons and Dreamflight. I was saddened greatly by it's passing and went to one of the last shows where I gave a standing ovation. Having said that, myself and Djali999, of this same forum, attended previews for the first time 3 days ago. We both were very skeptical and afraid about what we would soon witness. We chanted, "Please don't let it suck" as we waited to go into the building. The first preshow video did not help much as it contained some of the most ridiculous dialogue ever uttered in a Disney attraction. The animation also wasn't too impressive. We entered the second preshow and got our first look at Skippy and Sergeant Richard Kind. The whole preshow served no purpose and we were soon warned of the arrival of Stitch and herded into the main show room. At this point we had already had several moments where we turned to each other in utter disbelief of what was unfolding. The main show was just as baffling, albeit eventful. However, the special effects immediately impressed both of us. The main show incorporated several effects that were attempted in AE but never worked until now. It is clear that the main show had a lot of money and thought put into it. When we exited, all we could agree on was that we just went on one of the most amazingly random attractions ever. Joining the ranks of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in DL and Buzz Lightyear's AstroBlasters in TDL. We both immediately called friends and family to discuss the attraction and spent all of lunch, Mansion, and Pirates discussing it. It soon became apparent that we didn't know what to make of it but one thing was clear, we had to go on it again. This second time through we found the first preshow hysterically entertaining. It is very brisk, easy for a two year old to understand, and accomplishes nothing except spouting dialogue and gags that produce a varied reaction in the audience. It is not entirely successful but it effectively lays the groundwork for the main show in a very short time period. It also establishes the silly and irreverent tone to follow. Preshow number 2 is entirely different from its AE counterpart, tonally and technically. The Sarge is not merely S.I.R. with a new hat and pillow on his stomach. He far outpaces the (still impressive) S.I.R. animatronic in many respects. Skippy is mainly decoration, however even that figure has been spruced up and his noises are a pleasing reminder of AE. It's also nice to be able to admire him without afterward having to witness his murder. The other felon alien that occupies the second tube is amazingly expressive and fluid even in the short duration of his role. Djali and myself believe that those who dislike the attraction came to that conclusion during this preshow, which is understandable, as it serves no apparent purpose. Many children who begin screaming on this attraction begin to do so at the conclusion of the preshow. There is a lot of panic, flashing lights, and loud shouting in the last few minutes of the preshow. Up to this point there has been absolutely no mention of Stitch other than the fact that a "level 3" prisoner is on the way. This worries many young children as they have no way of knowing that this "level 3" is in fact Stitch. Unlike AE, everything up to Stitch being teleported in is on a "timer" and the feel of being rushed is very effective. This is why children are frightened of this attraction going into the main show. The main show is a textbook example of what imagineering can do given free reign and proper funding. It’s practically impossible for you to remember that you are watching an animatronic figure on the podium. Stitch is the BEST figure that imagineering has ever done, including Lucky the Dinosaur, Wicked Witch ala GMR, and Hopper from DCA. He moves every bit as fluidly as the figures in Sinbad at TDS. He is the pinnacle of imagineering art as it stands today. So are the plasma cannons. So are the lighting effects. So are the tactile effects. We would go as far to say that the main chamber of this attraction is as visually detailed, technically inventive, and genuinely delightful as the crown jewels of the imagineering enterprise; Pirates, Mansion, Indy, Tower, Splash. In fact it is so rich in visual effects that many fly by so quickly, they barely register the first several times. Djali and I agree that the attraction is so dense that there is no way that anyone can form a concrete opinion based one viewing alone. It is understandable that people are reacting badly to this attraction. We reacted badly to it the first time as well. In fact several of these posts bring up valid points about the attraction. No, it does not go anywhere. Yes, it has no ending. Yes, it is difficult to latch on to the tone the first go through (something that imagineering usually excels at). But, the attraction deserves more serious consideration than many are going to give it. We cannot stop talking about this attraction. We also can’t stop riding it either. Collectively, we have ridden it 10 times in 2 days. We will frantically phone one another with any and all updates regarding its preview schedule in hopes of more rides. We believe that the attraction is not centered around a main “forward thrust” but that its many delightful charms are in small moments and gags. The Sarge is so bored with his job that he talks to his wife on the phone and impatiently mimics the computer countdown to teleportation on his fingers. When notified of the incoming “level 3”, all three figures in the preshow momentarily flail about in panic. During a power failure, the plasma cannons droop limply, swinging back and forth (remember- these are huge and dangerous animated props that in several moments are only a few feet above guest’s heads. The view from below them is heart stopping). Stitch cheerily waves good-bye as he is teleported away. His announcement of “Meega Na La Kreesta” early in the show is intentionally hilariously over the top, complete with flashing lights and rising smoke. We find that to be one of the highlights of the attraction. After Gantu leaves the guests alone with Stitch, you are witness to among the most beautiful three-dimensional character animation ever attempted as he taunts the plasma cannons. We have other favorite moments as well but it would be frankly too exhaustive to list them all here. Stitch’s Great Escape, for the two of us, generates more genuine delight than many of the other attractions on property. Its re-watchability eclipses that of Mission Space. It is true that you may not share our unique sense of humor and it is true that in many areas the attraction can be a bit rocky. The bouncing restraint effect is not as effectively used as it was in AE and the effect is somewhat botched as a result. The on screen animation can be awkward and it was foolish of Disney to not take this attraction into consideration when they dissolved the traditional animation department, but we are not going to open that can of worms. But, the attraction is wise in that it does not attempt to do what AE did so effectively. It’s a whole different bird. Or alien. Pun. It succeeds at what it set out to do, which is utter chaos. And it grows on you in kind of a funny way. It is disconcerting that many people are calling this attraction out without having given it a fair chance. It is certainly not Alien Encounter and it is certainly not what many people probably expect, casual tourists and aficionados alike. It is a bold attraction in that it has enough faith in itself and it’s creators to not stop for a second as it rockets you through its illogical and insane universe. This can be viewed as a handicap but we view it as an unexpected but welcome surprise. At least in that way it is remarkably similar to Chris Sanders film on which it was based. It does not dumb down nor take away the edge of what the space was designed to be used for. Neither does it go to the extreme of cuteness or “zaniness”. It’s just about right. As much as imagineering was touting a more friendly take on the attraction the simple fact remains that Disney attractions DO frighten children, HAVE frightened children, and will CONTINUE to frighten children. Everyone reacts to things differently, children included. Imagineering was in a no win situation short of gutting the building. Those children that react badly appear to be in the minority. We heard one young boy say “Stitch….” in total amazement when the figure appeared. Reactions like that remind us what Disney magic actually means. It must be noted that every time we went through the attraction the crowd reacted increasingly well suggesting repeat visitors. It is way too early to close the book on this attraction. It deserves consideration and is not going anywhere anytime soon. With all the opinions being expressed on this board, Djali and I feel that, considering ourselves two hard won fans, we would simply like to make the other opinion known. You do not have to agree with us but we have been writing this thing for 90 minutes now so it’s evident that we feel strongly about this attraction. J And that my friends, is our defense! Back and to the left. Back and to the left. Back and to the left. Back and to the left. Back and to the left.
A GOOD LUNCH MENU AND THE BEST ICE CREAM ANYWERE. IT CAN BECOME CROWED VERY EASILY DO TO THE SMALL SEATING CAPACITY. EVENINGS CAN BE AN ADVENTURE WITH LOTS OF TIRED KIDS AND FLUSTRADED PARENTS. A MUST DO EVERY TRIP
I love Olivias! A lil too expensive for me to eat there all the time when I stay at Old Key West, but its great to do once in a while! I definately reccomend it for first timers!
Animal Kingdom is an amazing park. Its attracation offerings, however, leave something to be desired. You can make a full day by taking in everything there is to see, including the shows, but as we all know, not everyone likes everything. It is a good, relaxing, park, and at even the most crowded times seems very uncrowded. In my opinion, the best thing about this park is its potential!
It's nice to see that everyone's favorite cranky duck finally gets his very own show. It's just kind of a bummer that it's so, well, derivative in theming and execution. First there are already three very popular 3D shows on property: It's Tough to Be a Bug, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, and The Muppets. All of them are superior to this one. Philharmagic doesn't really add anything to the 3D attraction experience. The pre-show area employs the same "posters already used in ITTBAB. There is no great video to keep the waiting crowds entertained, ala Muppets. The exterior of the attraction looks like it was just thrown together quickly to have something there. I enjoyed the movie, but it was just a montage of great Disney animated songs with the addition of Donald interacting with the characters. After viewing Philharmagic twice, I got the feeling that this attraction is just filler. And that's a shame.
I hadn't seen Carousel of Progress in many years because I usually visit in the off season. I saw it on this last trip and fell in love all over again. As others have mentioned, this attaction was a personal fave of Walt's and most closely shows his outlook and touch. For The Powers That Be at WDW to replace it would be criminal. The audience sits in a theater and watches a series of vignettes about how much life has changed in the good ol' US of A since the early 1900s through about the 1980s. The attraction could use some updating and I'd like to see some more decades added, like the 1960s and the 1930s, but otherwise, it is a great tribute to Walt and his vision of progress. It's a great big beautiful tomorrow...
Though it's low-tech for it's time and not that cool to the ultra tech person/thrills person I really enjoy this one! it's soo cute and when you need a break from Space Mountain or Splash Mountain it's the best and it's the best for the little ones and little ones at heart like me...hehe! and also at times the seven dwarfs will go on with you on the ride and sit with ya! Bashful sat with me!! it was so cute and I talked to him cuz I wanted to see what his reactions would be when I was that young hehhe!! so overall this rides a classic!!
This park has everything for the average family. Thrill rides like Dinosaur, Shows like It's Tough To Be A Bug, an awesome water ride (Kali River Rapids), A safari in Africa & they are adding an awesome new roller coaster in the back of the park between Kali River Rapids & Tarzan Rocks!. This park is fun for the whole family. The best show there is The Festival of The Lion King. Hakuna Matata!!!
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is a fun ride for everyone because you can play a game while on this ride. I thought this ride was very fun, so I did it twice.
Our family loved this restaurant. There is an excellent selection of moderately adventurous foods and the setup of the buffet allows guests to wander at will from the meats to the desserts. Limited choices for small kids may make parents hesitate, especially with a $10 price tag. For any adult who likes to eat something a little different this is a wonderful choice. The wines were on the pricey side so we stuck to pop and water. Plenty of salads, soups and fresh fruit allowed for lots of taste testing and the waiter took time to explain some of the items we didn't recognize and encourage us to give them a try. There were an excellent variety of tasty desserts like banana bread pudding and coconut tiramisu. We were extremely happy with our meal here.
Saw it once, and it was OK, neat to see all the creative minds at work, and very clever. However, it was a bit odd, and I much prefer Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade.
Blizzard Beach was excellent for me and my niece. Of course, we both meet the height requirement. There didn't seem to be a lot of things for the youngsters to do, but it is an excellent water park! As far as thrills - two words: Summit Plummit!
WONDERFUL WATERPARK! Love all the Rides! The Kids have thier own area, although most of the other rides have hieght requirments. It's a great day, and I highly recomend it.
In my opinion Wolfgang Puck Express has some of the best food on Disney property. The BBQ chicken pizza is excellent and the french fries are some of the best I've had ANYWHERE! They are positively addictive! When looking at the menu the prices seem a bit steep, but the portions are large enough to be split by two people. I love this place and make sure to stop in AT LEAST once everytime I'm at WDW.
My favorite ride in WDW. I thought that it is a fabulous ride. However, there should be a little more done to the pavilion. Its too small, and after the ride there really isn't much more to see.
the polynesian resort is the excellent place for a vacation for families and i hope our family will like to stay in this hotel. alsome
My husband and I recently spent 3 nights at the Poly...without the kids:) The atmosphere is so romantic. The restaurants are wonderful and I don't know if I will ever find a Pina Colada as good as the ones that are served at the Poly!!! (O'hana Colada) Transportation was great. We love the boat ride to MK, especially in the evenings. It was so nice to sit on the beach and watch the electric parade and fireworks. We were fortunate and got a great discount code for our stay and we will keep our eyes open for more discounts in the future. We are looking forward to bringing our two teenagers next time.
I'VE STAYED HERE TWICE AND LOVED IT BOTH TIMES! YOU CAN'T BEAT THE LOCATION AND THE HEAVENLY BEDS ARE TO DIE FOR! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESORT! ITS PRETTY, CLEAN, AND CLOSE TO EPCOT, MGM,& THE BOARDWALK! WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR???
I ate at sit downs at resorts and other parks, (California Grill, Brown Derby, Boma, Resturant Marrakesh), this trip and LTT was consistenly the best across all catagories. The menu choices are a little limited but what is there is very good. I paid twice the price at other locations but it was the only resturant that was able to pull it off on all three stages of the meal - appetizer, entree, and dessert. I did the lunch which was w/o characters so I can't say how the interaction would be.
We have stayed here every single time we've been to WDW and it's hard to think of staying anywhere else. I just love hanging out in the lobby after a long day at the parks. For a moment you can even forget you are in Florida. From the moment the a/c hits me on the way in I know I'm home. The best year was the first year it was open because people were more respective of the funiture and things. It is still a good time.
love this place..even though they changed the name it will always be dixie landings to me!!!
we loved this resort and if we don't joing DVC we willbe back.
I absolutely love this ride. It is a genuine Disney classic! While it may not be thrilling, I love the look of the ride. It has a great storyline and provides a cool atmosphere on a hot day. This is a nice break in anyone's long day at the park. This ride is a family favorite!
This is by far my favorite of all the moderate resorts. The theming is absolutely breath-taking. The service is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nicely decorated. The best part of this resort is the expansive grounds. They are beautifully maintained and romantic strolls are easily found at night. There are also numerous amenities offered for days in which a park is not visited. The food court is good. The only negative I can think of is that the food at the sit-down restaurant is pretty much a more expensive version of what is offered in the food court. I would recommend saving some money by by-passing this restaurant and just eating in the food court. Overall, this resort is great. I am going back for a second time in 2005!
The Coronado Springs is a great resort to stay at. While it is the largest convention center in WDW, I did not notice any problems associated with the convention center. I really enjoyed the food court, although I stayed there before they implemented the new changes. The salad bar is excellent! The rooms are decent size and the theming is great.
I found the Carribean Beach resort to be a nice place to stay for the value. The rooms are decent size and the theming is very good. I especially enjoy the carribean music that plays as you walk along the grounds. My favorite part of the resort is the food court. There are many options and the theming is fantastic.
My boyfriend ordered a turkey leg and received a ham bone instead. No joke - it was a piece of ham shaped like a turkey leg. While my boyfriend likes ham anyways, we were extremely irriatated that the vendors did not inform us of the switch in meat. They tried to pass it off as a turkey leg, which it clearly was not!
I was extremely disappointed with Cap'n Jack's restaurant. We visited in December of 2003, and found the menu to very very limited. Furthermore, the portions were not that big and the food was extremely overpriced. The only good thing I can say about this place is that our waitress was nice and the setting overlooking the lake is very pretty.
This is such a fun restaurant to eat in. The entertainment is great, and the table seating allows you to interact with other WDW visitors from around the country. The food is very good and there is quite a variety. My sister who is a vegetarian found it very easy to eat here.
It's McDonald's - what else is their to say. It's bigger then most and not all Mickey D's have electronic menus, but I can drive 5 minutes from my house and come across five of the artery clogging restaraunts.
BETTER THAN AND A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN ALL THE REST OF THE PRETZEL PLACES. NICE FOR A SNACK BREAK IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAVY SHOPPING.
DISNEY PRICED MICKEY D'S. A STEP UP OF MCDONALDS WITH THE DECOR UPGRADE AND A DESSERT TOPPINGS AREA. STILL A PLACE THAT FEELS CLOSE TO HOME.
LOVE THE FOOD AND ALWAYS EAT TOO MUCH CORNBREAD. GREAT START FOR AN EVENING OUT AND A SHOW NEXT DOOR IN THEIR THEATRE
GOOD FOOD AT REASONABLE DISNEY PRICES WHICH MAKES IT A GREAT PLACE TO EAT WHEN YOUR AT DOWNTOWN DISNEY. EVERYONE IN OUR GROUP WAS ABLE TO HAVE AN ENJOYABLE MEAL. IT CAN BECOME CROWED AT TIMES SO BE SURE TO VISIT DURING OFF PEAK LUNCH HOURS.
The line was alright 5 minutes. The thing that I dont like about it is.... It's ancient! The movie is from the 70's! Canada needs more than a cheap looking theatre! AT LEAST HAVE SOME SEATS THERE! I would like it to be like the American Adventure like Canada's history with robotics involed ... and seats!. Other than the line the rest was very poor, old, dated, and cheap looking! You may think im American but im not im actually Canadian my self! COME ON DISNEY PLEASE UPDATE OUR CANADIAN PAVILLION!!! PLEASE!
I GREAT PLACE TO GO TO ON A DAY OFF AS ITS NOT AS STRESSFUL AS A BIGGER THEME PARK, YOU CAN RELAX MORE AT DISNEY QUEST AND THIS WILL MAKE A GREAT DAY OUT - LOOK OUT FOR THE GENIE IN THE ELEVATOR
My girlfriend and I went to the Caribbean Beach to celebrate our college graduation and first vacation together. We loved many aspects of our room (quaint little storage shelves beneath the sink, the fact that the two sinks were located outside the bathroom, another themed shelf and upholstered storage bin left plenty of place to store our clothing and then GIFTS!). Our king-size bed was comfortable and clean. The a/c worked well and kept us cool on those steamy August nights. We were very pleased with the room, except one day housekeeping forgot to come and we called at night to no avail. Other than that night, our rooms were meticulously kept with cute details. Although I made reservations for a king-size bed w/ our travel agent, that didn't go through. But the check-in CM didn't make me feel uncomfortable about requesting a king-size bed for two women. My point is that they were fairly gay-friendly. Noone wants to go on vacation and feel unwelcome or as if they're being glared at...and luckily we DIDN'T experience this while at the Caribbean Beach (although our housekeeping lady must have been a little confused when there were two sets of ladies' bathing suits, dresses, and lingerie in different sizes). :o) It really was great to have stayed there, (we stayed at Trinidad North-close to Old Port Royale). The landscaping left a bit to be desired, but other than that it was fantastic. We loved the pool, very quiet and relaxing. Transportation by bus was prompt except for our last day right before our flight--delays because the rain was so awful since a hurricane was coming in about 2 days, we almost missed our flight (nice timing I know). The Ultimate Park Hopper passes Disney guests can get for the length of stay are God's gift to Disney-lovers! Hope you have a great time like we did!
Yet another "good" overall from me here. The menu here has some unique stuff, so that's a plus. The mood inside has a super laid back, dimmed lighting, mellow feel.....which I guess is why it's the House of BLUES.
DTD is great for dining, and this is no exception! This restaurant is actual set on the water at DTD. If oyu can get a window seat, you've got a nice view of the marketplace. My only complaint was that it was a little crowded, but the atmosphere overall was really nice. Go for it!
We actually have only been here once, and it was for our Disney Wedding Rehearsal Dinner. We had the balcony upstairs, so it wasn't your normal visit. The food was VERY different, but if you're up for trying new things, then this place is for you. I'd say 80% of the food I tried was really tasty. Try it once. You never know, Cuban cuisine may become your favorite!
Hey, McDonalds is McDonalds, right? Well, sorta. This one is slightly higher priced than your average Mickey D's, BUT the improved, Disneyfied atmosphere is worth the extra couple bucks. Plus, the dollar menu is still in effect. They ALSO have the coolest drink and condiment center you've ever seen in your life. Go check it out. So, for those of you who have blown your Disney budget a little sooner than expected, this is the place to go to fill up on some vittles. :)
Nice ride I will sorely miss. Nice view, but I guess since most parks in the 90s removed this the MAgic Kingdom was forced to.
If you are going to be close to the Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary can't be beat. The views alone are outstanding. I must say after a 6 night stay there, I felt it lacked something. Maybe it was the airline pilots convention going on, or all the people in business suits. But i felt I could have been in any hotel in any city. (Again, except for the view of course). I found the Tower rooms to be very noisy, from the 7th floor you could still hear the busses down on the road. In general we enjoyed our stay, but with such high hopes on our arrival, I think next time we will stay at the Polynesian.
This was a very unqiue, unsual, and terrific dining experience. I would highly recommend trying this place on your next trip!
I stayed my first time at the Contemporary this June and loved. I have stayed at many of the other disney deluxe resorts, but I had never stayed at the Contemporary. We were supposed to have a regular wing room but were upgraded to a tower room for free by just asking. The view was awesome. Every night we watched Wishes while lying in bed. The only bad thing about the hotel that I can think of is the themeing. Some of the contemporary art work and decorations just didn't seem to fit the Disney experience.
We always try to make a stop here, it is one of the best themed places in the parks. But as for the food, watch out. This place even managed to mess up a hamburger! As a kid I never had problems with the food, but I refuse to eat there anymore. I recommend going for a milkshake or a cocktail to relax in the cool, fun atmosphere. If you want to eat at a full service restaraunt at the Studios try the much better Mama Melrose's or the Prime Time Cafe (which has a similar problem of theming over food, but their food is worlds ahead of Sci-Fi).
This place gets a bad rap, but I enjoyed my only visit. The ribs are pretty good, and topped off with a cold one and the unique ambience offered here, they made for a memorable dining experience. People complain about the price a lot...welcome to Disney World. It'll be $3.50 for that oxygen, please. Yes, it's overpriced, but what isn't at the World? Give it a try...I think you'll like it.
I make it a point to hit this restaurant everytime I am at the World. I love themeing and this place is great! Try it, you'll like it!
Great food for decent prices. If you're looking for a quick lunch...pass on MickeyD's and grab yourself a sandwich from the Earl...the Pina Colada smoothies are mighty tasty too :)
There really isn't much atmosphere here. I do think you get your moneys worth for the amount of food you get. The food itself is not spectacular, but I would say it is above average as far as food found at WDW.
The Luau show takes place in three 20-30 minutes acts: Overact, Interact, and Re-enact. The first act, set against the sparse set, introduces the “characters” in straight dramatic fashion. This part has little singing or dancing and is mostly painful dialogue with a dash of overacting thrown in for good measure. The second act is not really an act per se, but an elaborate photo opp. A chance for the audience to interact with the performers. Groups of people in the crowd are encouraged to participate on stage, and it makes for good pictures. The third act is where the real performance takes place. The extremely talented dancers re-enact Polynesian dances in spectacular fashion. Highly entertaining. This act alone is worth the price of admission. As for my kids, the 4-year old slept through the entire show, the 6-year old was mesmerized, and the 8-year old was somewhat bored. The adults were very impressed with the third act and mildly amused by the first two. Before, during, and between acts you are served authentic (and delicious!) Polynesian food. The chicken and rice are particularly tasty. The volcano desserts were also a favorite of our table’s.
ive only ate there once but when i went the food was awesome and the place was the most awesome restaraunt id ever been to the person i went to Disney with said that the waitress served us wasnt as good as some of the other waiters and waitresses but i thought she was very good...
This miniature golf course is better than your average mini golf course, but not overwhelmingly so. Most of the holes are fairly standard mini golf fare. The theming of the summer course (Santa and elves vacationing in Florida) is well executed, and I like the Beach Boys singing Christmas songs in the background. We arrived around opening time when it was not crowded and were allowed to golf as a "fivesome".
The Liberty Tree Tavern features great roast beef (and good food, in general) served family style. The character interaction is fun, and the colonial theming (from the costumes to the decor) is impressive and interesting. Also, my wife and I got a kick out of how the names are called when tables are ready. It's a nice touch.
Wow, the steak here is unbelievably good! Easily the best my wife or I have EVER had at WDW. This is a romantic restaurant and worth a splurge, if you can afford it. The staff is very attentive, and the atmosphere is luxurious. Under no circumstances would I take young kids here. Let's put it this way - it cost us $45 to have all three kids at the Sandcastle Kids Club while we ate, and I'm confident we came out financially ahead on the deal. And really, the restaurant is geared towards adults, anyway.
Steak is supposed to be the specialty of Le Cellier, but frankly, neither steak we had was any good. The breadsticks were okay. On the plus side, our server was very friendly and attentive. The theming is nice, but the interior is a little dark.
El Rio del Tiempo is a slow, mildly interesting boat ride. If you like "it's a small world", you'll like this. If you don't, well, you've been warned.
The height restrictions are somewhat relaxed, in that if you're under the limit, you can still sit in the driver's seat with an adult in the passenger seat. My 5, 7, and 9 year old boys enjoyed this ride. The guard rail got quite a workout with the 5 and 7 year olds, but they loved the ride, anyway. My wife and I, their unfortunate passengers, were not as enthused.
The only criticism I can level against this show is that it is a little bit long (almost two hours, including the pre-show). However, for the most part, the two hours fly by in a phenomenally choreographed, beautifully costumed visual spectacle. This show is a feast for eyes of all ages. There is so much to see, it's impossible to take it all in. Every "scene" has multiple main performers and multiple background performers, all interesting, all extremely talented. Make sure you're there 15 minutes before the show starts. You do NOT want to miss the pre-show.
The Yacht Club has wonderful amenities - StormAlong Bay, the Boat Launch to Ep/Boardwalk/DS, the Marina. The restaurants are great, and its sister resort, the Beach Club, has the Sandcastle Kids club and a character breakfast. The lobby is beautiful, as are the rooms. What's not to like?
There's not much to see here. It's an oversimplified view of environmental issues and isn't particularly informative or entertaining. The Lion King characters and music are the best part of this very average attraction.
The Wave Pool is worth the price of admission. Beautifully landscaped and themed. Ketchikiddee Creek area is great fun for the younger kids. Highly recommended!
I was shocked at how cheap and tacky the building is for this attraction. It was clear that management said to make the building as cheaply as possible. Putting such a poor exterior in with the beautiful medieval architecure on the surrounding older buildings borders on criminal. I can't believe nay imagineers designed this building. It must have been an outside company. When you are standing in line look at the tower on the right end and compare it to the old german tower on the building directly behind it. The new building tower looks like it cost about $100 to build and the old tower looks like a work of art. Look at the cheap plaster work and the running paint on the new tower with a couple of stones stuck in the plaster in a cheap attempt at detail. And cheap 1x4 boards for trim work. Look at the "stones" on the front walls of building - nothing but flat white fake looking rectangles of stucco - no detail -no varition - no artistry. I've seen shopping centers that were better built - seriously. The first lobby is nothing but an empty room with posters on the wall and a mural that looks like high school students painted it. The second lobby deeper inside is nothing but a big warehouse type room with dark blue walls and some plain cheap white plaster columns. The "Chandeliers" look like big aluminum cake pans with one row of those cheap electric candles around the outside that cost $2 at walmart - I'm not kidding. And there is absolutley ZERO preshow entertainment or distractions. The actual theatre where the film is shown is likewise plain and unimpressive except for godd frame around the center screen. Anyone who says this building is attractive must live in a mobile home and have cars up on blocks in the front yard. Disney would have FIRED whoever ordered this cheap, ugly, plain building inserted in one of the most beautiful architecure areas in disneyworld. He's spinning in his grave right now. The 3D movie itself is very good. Lively and action packed with good animation and 3D effects. But after the very long, boring line wait, it dampens your response to the show a bit. Even the attendants were the least friendly, shortest I ran into in the part. You got the feeling they felt like they were herding cattle. B+ for the movie; building gets an F- And again, whatever bean-counter manager(and Eisner who must have approved the cheap budget and plans) who was in charge of construction of this cheap/tacky eyesore dropped in an area of disney beauty should be FIRED. As you can tell, I am rather angry about this descecration of the beautiful architecture of fantasy land.
Guess what we ended the day with...Mission: SPACE! I didn't force Zach on, he decided himself. He was shaking, though. We did single rider, and ended up in the same pod, sitting next to each other. I was engineer, Zach was pilot. They spend about 15 minutes breifing you, but it's very interesting. Zach, who fidgets alot, got a bit nervous when they said not to move your head during the ride. We climbed on, Zach and I putting our hats in the pull out compartment. Zach complained about how he couldn't reach the buttons. Of course, the control panel came to us, so he could get it. They spend about another 3 minutes briefing you, and then, you tilt upwards. Zach was shaking very rapidly. The end seats are a lot more intense, I'll say that, which is why he was in the middle. Nonetheless, he was still nervous. I was nervous also, even though I'd done it before. All of a sudden, a voice says "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, takeoff!" And you start to feel major g-forces. It feels more intense than Goliath's because they are sustained G-'s. You can feel your restraint actually pushing down more because of the G-'s. There are no handles to hold onto. My advice: cross your arms over the bottom of the restraint during take-off, unless you are brave enough to lift your hands up, which is pretty tough because of the G-'s. At least Zach liked it, I could hear him whooping over the turbulence. We slingshot around the moon, and I put us into hypersleep mode. Then, we wake up, and end up near Mars. We swoop in, and then (oh *BEEP*) autopilot breaks. We switch to manual, and the joystick starts shaking, making it tough to control. Me and Zach actually moved the joystick correctly, for a change, Zach still whooping it up. Then, you come to the edge of a cliff, and then, the cliff breaks. "Don't...move...a muscle." At that precise moment, I start moving the joystick, pushing all the buttons and flipping all the switches, and shout "IT'S OUT OF CONTROL!!!!! SHE'S GONNA F*CKING BLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Yes, I used the explicitive. Yell at me. PUT THE KNIFE DOWN! Lol. Obviously, the ship survives, and then the words "Mission Accomplished" flash on the screen. My only complaint is that they should make the ride longer. Zach loved it so much that he asked to go on a second time. Not bad for someone who passed up on it in the morning, where the lines were so short we could have gotten a pod to ourselves. This time, Zach was engineer and I was commander. The ride was a lot better because: 1. I was videotaping. 2. We had our hands up the entire ride, which was tough. 3. We weren't nervous...the other people were!!!!!!! 4. A kid in our pod freaked out when, during the asteroid field, I started pushing all the buttons and moving the joystick, shouting, "It's out of control! OMFG! She's gonna blow!!!!" (That's a tiresome cliche, but I like it.) Put the knife down! I didn't mean to scare the kid! *puts on innocent look* Anyway, me and Zach were laughing when we got off, and decided to call it a day.
It is a great ride. However I did not care for it at all. The G forces on my chest were 2 much. I rode this ride twice. Another reason i did not care for it was b/c of the inclosed spaces. I am clastrophobic. I really didnt care for this ride..and I am a THRILL JUNKIE
I feel bad writing this review, but we had a horrible experience at Disney’s Caribbean Resort on our honeymoon. That first night we killed a roach in the bathroom. Not the best way to set the mood for the honeymoon. As in a motel, the rooms open to the outside. This is all right, but in our case the rubber seal under the door was missing. When we woke up in the morning, several bugs had crawled into the room. My wife and I both wear glasses. I did not see the bugs, and did not know they were there until I stepped on them with my bear feet. Florida has some big ugly bugs. We were on the ground floor which undoubtedly made the situation worse. Before we left, I swept some bugs out the door. Made sure there were not any living ones running around. Made sure all our clothes were secure within our suitcase. However, there were still a few dead ones that I just left. I expected housekeeping to vacuum them up. When we got back, the bed had been made, but the dead bugs were still lying on the floor. They didn’t even vacuum the dead bugs up. I assumed they would vacuum the room regardless. In about three or four places there were these little lumps under the mattress. In the morning my wife woke with a few bites on her legs. I thought they were mosquito bites from the park. In hindsight, the bites were probably from bed bugs. The box spring on the bed was completely busted. You notice this on a honeymoon. The air-conditioner emitted a strong mildew or mold smell. I woke up in the morning with a painful sinus headache. In situations like this, a caring staff goes a long way. Even with everything that occurred, I felt that the staff just didn’t give a ***n. We had to spend two nights in the bug room because everything was booked. The second night we jammed a large towel under the door to keep anything from crawling in. You shouldn’t have to do something like that at a resort. That is the sort of thing you do in the third world. This experience occurred six years ago. The resort may be in better shape now. At the time, Disney was in the process of renovating the building next to ours. There was a large dumpster between the two buildings. It was filled with beds, furniture and carpeting. Of course the dumpster didn’t exactly help with the overall atmosphere. Personally, I think our building was due to be worked on next, and that's why they let it deteriorate to the condition that it had. They were probably going to gut it in a few days. We were just unlucky enough to be the last ones to stay there. When we got back I wrote a few letters of complaint. They e-mailed an offer for a ten percent discount on our next Disney vacation. It had to be at the Caribbean, within a time period and could not be combined with any other promotions or discounts. I just ignored the offer. The gesture seemed pretty feeble. You couldn’t pay me to stay there again. I'm writing the review now because we are going back to Disney for the first time. My parents and my sister’s family talked us into joining them. Obviously, I still have some pretty strong emotions related to our honeymoon experience. When I think back on what happened, I still get aggravated. However, it is not just the events. My wife and I are both shy, even more so then. I’m also upset with myself for not raising the roof off that place. I should have found the person in charge, drug their **s into that room, and literally rubbed their nose in those bugs. Even if the placed was booked, I should have forced them to find something for us that second night. To anyone who may read this, spend the extra money and stay somewhere better. Stay off-site if you have to.
I loved it! My dad and I stayed here for my graduation present! It was AWSOME. We had stayed at the all stars before and there were some differences. One of the differences is at PC you don't have a dispenser on shower wall (you do have disney soap though). I personally like the dispenser on the wall b/c i can take a bath and get a bubble bath. PC is a little more fancy and luxurious than AS. I loved it! We stayed in the 80's section. It was great. We had an awsome view of the lake.
I stayed at the pop century resort back on spring break and i thought it was a little hard to find your way around the place but it was very cool. the overall theming was awesome they did a very good job. i thought the rooms were a lil plain but then again with a hotel that size you cant get too elaborate
My family and I stayed at CS on our last trip to Wdw in Feb. 2003 and we loved it.I have a 13 yr. old daughter [11 then] and she loved it.The pool was closed due to construction but that was'nt a big deal since it was Feb. and the only time we had free to go swimming was at night.Too cold.Even though the pool's are all heated. We had a cabana room with a view of a little pond that was gorgeous.Every morning I would stand outside my room and watch birds, squirrels, bunnies [even a loon on morning]This was a big deal for a nature nut like me.This was also a very secluded area at the time we were there. We also greatly enjoyed the Coronado Springs gift shop;Panchito's.We found it to be one of the best in WDW.We ended every one of our 6 nights in that gift shop. There was hardly ever anyone there at any given time and we usually had the place to ourselves. Needless to say we need most of our shopping there. The cast members were exceptional. The only problem we had with CS was the Pepper Market.Way to expensive for horrible food and service.I'm from San Antonio,tx. and was appalled at what they were trying to pass off as mexican and tex-mex food.THe cast members here were rude and incompetent. For real good Mexican food we go to San Angel Inn inside the Mexico pavillion at EPCOT.So aside from the Pepper Market we love this resort.WE feel that it is a good resort for families with older children.Very quiet. Can't wait to see it again when we return there on our next trip to WDW in Feb. 2005.
OK, so most of you will not consider this ride original or exciting. Fair enough. But I can't name anything else at WDW that has inspired me as much as 20K did. Who can not forget first entering the subs, hearing all the creaks and groans, and seeing the wooden barnacle-covered dock right beside your porthole? You felt as if you WERE actually a submariner. That amazed me, and still does. I think 20K's life at the Magic Kingdom was cut short prematurely. I think it should have been given the benefit of an actual overhall, rather than closing it down. It should have gone down for rehab for about almost a year, and totally repaired. Being a diver, I know quite a few different techniques used to preserve mechanical objects in water, salt, fresh, or chlorine... The fish could have been made almost invincible to having their paint worn away. The subs could have had newer sound systems put in them. These, and many other changes could have greatly benefitted 20K, and would have ensured a longer life, and could maybe have attracted the same scale of fanbase as the Haunted Mansion has. I rated the post show section poor, as basically, you stepped out of the sub, and that was it, something could have been done there, maybe a small portable gift shop like the HM has. I gave the wait time an average, as anyone who experienced the attraction will 'fondly' remember those 100+ minute waits in the summer... To sum it up basically, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea was victimised in it's final years, and should have been given another chance to shine.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed this place very much. It provides a bit of romance and the food is excellent. We had a riverside table and the ambience is great.
This ride is soooo realistic i couldnt believe it the first time i rode it
I LOVE Aerosmith and when i first went to disney i loved the ride soooooo much... it is one of my favorite rides
Indiana Jones, Epic Stunt Spectacular: One of the greatest stunt shows I have ever seen. I especially love the pre-show entertainment...the picking of random audience members and making them do stupid things...hilarious. I love the stunts...I love the flips, the kicks, the punches...I love the beginning sequence, with Indie falling out of the "ceiling" and then running through the spikes, getting caught with those statues, and then finally the "Big Ball". Love that part. The next few scenes aren't seen unless there isn't a cloud in the sky...if it is raining, you're cut short. *they really need to find a way to cover the WHOLE are so you don't get cut short.* But as for the town scenes, the revealing of the cast member in pink, or as I call him, the dude always in sunglasses acting as an audience member...I love that. I also love the fire sequences and fight scenes, they are a 10 in my book!
Horizons. What can I say about Horizons except that it was and is still one of my favorite rides. My favorite scene in the ride was the orange grove; I especially loved the smell of the oranges, and I dearly miss that. I liked the choosing of the ends...that allowed for variety, and each ending was a whole new experience. I am very upset that this was taken away...I loved it as a child, and as a young adult, honestly think I would love it more, now that I fully understand what this ride was about: Technology, advancing technology. I am a fan of this ride for many reasons, and I wish there were some way of getting it back. To smell those oranges again, to see the talking robot, to ride in the sideways cars....I strive for that.
My wife and I ate lunch here and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent (the cheese soup is to die for) and our waitress was wonderful. The image of this restaurant being a dank, dark basement are unfounded. It's very nice, although definitely not a kid-friendly atmosphere.
Old Key West is a wonderful resort to relax in. The villas are huge, the rooms are quiet (especially the buildings along the river), and it's a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. This resort is difficult to get around in unless you own a car. It is spread out and the bus stops can be as far to walk to as the main building. Bus service can be spotty at times. Olivia's is the only full-service restaurant, but it is a decent value. I guess that's why you've got such a huge kitchen in your villa!
Good value for the money. Does not have all the amenities of the higher price resorts, but gives you good value for the money. Best for those whose budget is tight. Great for families as it stetches your dollars for use in the parks. I use it regularly.
WOW! is all i can say to this truly Wonderful vacation. Ate at every restarunt except for Parrot Cay. Food was AMAZING! loved every moment. 3 days is way too short on this truly marvalous boat. Castaway Cay was great! Snorkling was alot of fun. Did not get off the boat at Nassau. Jacque, the cruise director was very nice, and handled everything great. All 3 on-board shows in the Walt Disney Theature were amazing. Wish i could go again, but i just got home. Golden Mickeys was great but Disney Dreams was the icing on the cake. Thanks to all the cast and crew of the Disney Wonder for makeing this my favorite vacation ever! I highly reccomend this to anyone who loves cruising. WOW! What a trip, can't wait to do it agian!!!!!
Now I never got to see ToN in person, but from seeing videos of it, I love it. The puppets were excellently done, and the Sage of Time was one of the best characters in the parks. Only problem with the parade other then that it's gone, is that the drum floats, though really neat, needed to be a little more unique from each other. I really wish I got to see it in person, even in the form of Tapestry of Dreams, which was almost as good, though the Sage was substituted for the Dreamseekers, who also were great characters, though they belong more in the Imagination Pavillion.
This restaurant has incredible themeing and good food. The Shrimp pasta was yummy. It really felt like we where eating outside under the stars watching a drive-in movie. However, when we went there for lunch we where placed in the back seat of one of the cars with another family. The place was pretty much empty so we asked to be moved and they wouldn't do it. It didn't take away too much but still it was aggravating.
We stayed here for our Honeymoon a few years back. The service at this hotel was unbelievable, everytime we got back to our rooms our wash cloths where in the shape of a differnet animal... swans... you name it. How's that for fancy. We stayed in Jamacia which was the furthest building from the main building. Felt like we walked forever. Being a huge Disney fan, I think that it lacked Disney themeing. The gift shop was really the only reminder that you where at a Disney resort. Some guest might love this but for us and other families wanting to get smothered in Disney, it lacked.
This Disney hotel is one of our favorites!! During our last visit we stayed in the Fantasia building which I think is the best because it's closest to the main building which means closest to the trasnportations buses to the parks. And WHO doesn't love walking under the HUGE Mickey's Sorcerer Hat every morning on the way to the parks!?!? All buildings and pools have excellent themes. Really enjoyed exploring the Double Feature gift shop every morning. We have stayed at other hotels but we always seem to come back to this one -- stayed there three times. This hotel is for the family that comes to Disney World for the parks, not spas, expensive restaurants or throughing their money out the window.
If you love the 80's you will love it here at this club. Everyone is doing the dances they did as a kid and no one cares.
Great all around I absolutly love this place!!! The theming is great, I feel like I am at my grandmothers. The food is great! I love the meat loaf and dad's electric lemonaid.
If I need a quick fix on german food this is where I head to. Its not the best like the resturant. But if I need a quick fix this is where I head to. If your not a fan of saurkrat then dont eat here.
The nachos were great! They filled me up and were unlike ones that are plied on then the nacho cheese. You dip the chip in what you want. O so good.
WOW what a meal. I did not eat alot before coming to this resturant and boy am I glad I didnt! I left there so stuffed! Everything was great the rolls were great. The salad is yum. Everything was so good. I enjoyed it very much and seeing all the characters while eating dinner is always such a joy!
Wonderful rooms, very clean. Staff are knowledgeable and have great customer service skills. Pool is nice but I wish they had a separate adult pool.
We have to agree--Breakfast here is bad! We were also seated right away, but had minimal character interaction. Jasmine, Mary Poppins and Aurora came over as we were being seated, scribbled their autographs, posed for ONE group picture and left--that was the extent of our character visitations. Our waiter told us Belle was not there that day--we saw her & Snow White on our way out. They never came to our side of the room let alone our table. We arrived at 9:10, by 9:20 they started clearing out our side of the room and by 9:50 we were the only family left on our side of the room! Service was bad and food was mediocre. It was terribly over priced and we were rushed the whole time. I would NEVER do this again--What a waste of $85!!
I can only say excellent. We spent 2 weeks in WDW for our honeymoon at the Dolphin. Arrived and was immediately upgraded to a club room for the duration. Everyone was friendly and the service was great. Pool great and the position for the parks was spot on. Well done Disney this was the best ever.
A very nice place to stay. I was not dissapointed in the slightest.
Recently stayed at the Yacht Club for a conference and I thought the YC was a great place to stay. The service was excellent, the rooms were average but clean and I have to say all the CM's were friendly and helpful. The location is great, you can either walk to MGM or Epcot or take a transport boat. The boats were a little slow and you have to stop at either the boardwalk and/or Swan/Dolphin before you arrive at the parks. I thought the bus service to MK was fine. Did not have to wait long, and compared to my experience with the busses at All Stars, the Yacht club was much better. The pool was loads of fun. The pirate ship slide was a blast. The one thing about the pool area was the lack of available chairs. We went a few times and had difficlulty finding chairs without towels allready on them. Plus if you want to have a drink (which by the way was very expensive, two drinks were about 15.oo) you can't sit near the pool or on the edge with your drink. So with the lack of chairs it's hard to watch your kids in the pool and relax with a beverage. All in all, I really liked the YC. Compared to all stars, carribean beach and the boardwalk, I thought the YC was a better overall Disney Resort.
I recently went to Akershus for the new Breakfast with the Princess'. We usually go to Cinderella's Royal Table, so I thought this would be something different. Boy, was I wrong! While the seating ws prompt, the service good and the characters very obliging, the food selection and taste was awful! You got a skillet of runny eggs, thick sliced sausage, and as my eight year old put it, chewy bacon. I paid almost $50.00 for 1 adult and 2 kids, and all I had was a cinnamon roll. That was the most expensive roll I ever had! Luckily, I did book Cinderella's breakfast, too! That was alot more enjoyable and at least you had choices!
This place turned me on to all things UK. I love the stores, the fish and chips, the tea...and the beer!
How can you not like this place! My family and I eat here everytime. I used to be a vegetarian and the menu accomodated that, and now that I'm not a vegetarian its twice as great. The German band is always fun to watch if you haven't seen it before and the pint of beer adds to the meal.
I couldn't complain about the service I received, but I was seating in the solo diner section and made great conversation with the person next to me. I watched as I received excellent service (probably because I ordered an expensive wine) while the girl next to me rushed out of there. I found out later that she was a Disney employee at another park and was not happy at all with her service. I observed that the restaurant was very kid friendly and I can't complain about the menu...
This was the first French restaurant I had been to in a long time and as an adult. As a single diner with food allergies I was attended to and not ignored. My waiter was also working with two large parties of over 8 people each and he always checked up on me and was very friendly overall. I was appreciative for the attention he paid to a single diner in a large restaurant of noisy parties and children. This restaurant also opened me up to French fair.
I always rate the restaurant I go to at Disney World by how well they serve a single person. As a solo diner I was seated near the window to watch the evening events and attended to just as good, if not better than the large parties and couples sitting around me. The waiter took the time to answer my questions and have a good conversation with me during my wait. The wine he recommended with my dish went perfectly and I was not rushed out at all. I also do not like sitting near children and there were only adults nearby, nice and quiet. I recommend this place for solo diners as well as couples without children.
Amazing place to stay. The only way to make it better would be free rooms. The theme, the people and the general concept will blow you away.
Great try, but not imaginerings work of the past. The preshow/que is done very well, but the clearly off the shelf coaster could have been themed alot better! The black light card board cut outs do the trick but should have been much better. STILL, an AWESOME ride.
Amazing ride from start to finish. One of the best WDI has ever created!
This is a refreshing change from most of the counter service dining in the World. Filling, but not heavy. Great flavors! Outside seating is recommended. We plan at least one meal here every trip!

We (626 and I) LOVE the Boma! Its my favorite restaurant at WDW! We go every time. One time when we were at the park for only 3 hours (we visited family in Florida for Thanksgiving and flew out of Orlando just so we could stop by WDW for a few hours to see the Osborn Family Christmas lights at MGM) we still ate at the Boma. I would never miss it. Its a Gourmet Buffet! I am not a fan of Buffets either. But this one is great because you can try all these weird things you might never oder. (my husband and I are very picky eaters) If you do not like it try something else! We do not have kids but there is something for everyone at the Boma. And if you love something just ask for the Recipe, they will give it to you! Last year we tried Breakfast which is Great as well. 10 Stars for BOMA!!
The pork and brisket sandwiches are ridiculously good. The seating area is very scenic. Great place for a quick-stop lunch!
The preshow seems to have aged better than than 3-d movie. If you haven't seen it go but it does get old quickly. Would be nice to be updated to keep up with the newer wdw 3-d's
If you are seated where the staff draws you into their family it is great. if on your second trip you take friends to it and are seated away from THE SHOW you end up with overpricd meatloaf!!!!!
This hotel is the best! Just the right amount of theming, and perfect location... Recommend to All!
I have loved this since the first time I went to Disney 18 years ago. It is such a pitty that this time when my friends and I go this upcoming June...it will be closed.
There is always a long line so get a Fastpass. The only reasion i marked down the queing area is because i become incredabally chlostrophobic in it. (that's why i only do FP) Kid friendly is only good due to the Hieght requirement. The best coaster at the Magic Kingdom to Date!
Great even for Teenagers waiting for a Fastpass for Dinosaur or Primeval Whirl. Went with my friends and had a wonderful time (we are all 14!!!)
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. GREAT TO BE ABLE TO WALK TO EPCOT AND MGM OR TAKE AN AC, RELAXING BOAT RIDE. GOOD REST. EVERYWERE.POOL IS ALOT OF FUN FOR ALL AGES WITH IT'S WATERSLIDE!!ONLY DOWNSIDE WAS THE WALK FROM OUR ROOM TO THE LOBBY,BUT THIS WAS NO BIG DEAL.ONE OF THE BETTER PLACES TO STAY!!!!!!!!
This ride was okay to me. I'm not really into Pirates, but it was a short wait so I just walked in August (you don't find too many rides that you can just walk during this time of the year). Its no big deal. If I missed it I don't think I'll be missing anything.
Disney dropped the ball on this one. They had the chance to take a very creative theme to the Disney level and simply created a larger version of a La Quita motel along any interstate in the US. I hated the rooms which were so small and plain. The food court was pathetic. The servers were rude and half the counters were either closed or out of food the whole time we were there. This would be ok for a business traveler, but not a family on vacation. I rarely mention the fact that I have stayed at this resort when discussing my visits to other people interested in going, but feel I may stop a family from making the wrong decision for their stay at WDW like I did when I stayed at Coronado.
I loved this attraction for 20 years ever since my first visit. I will be absolutly upset if they ever tear that down. The music is catchy and the attraction is wonderful. Especially if the day is hot and your feet hurt, like the Space Ship Earth in Epcot, It is well worth every minute.
My Dad and I went on during a E-night back in 2000 and we had ourselves a blast. It is better to take advantage of the Night time magic hours and E-night for the enjoyment of this ride. Queue Is generally long and you would need a fast pass during the day. So my advice to you is go on later on at night and use a fast pass for Splash or Space Mountain.
This is not to be missed. When I first went onto this ride back in the mid 80s I loved it as a 5 year old. And now 15 years later I am going on it again this June as the second ride we go on. It is just great!
I think this is the future of attractions as we know them. This is one of the smoothest yet most intense simulators ever. The ride was thrilling and yet left me wanting more. I rode it five times and it was just as fun as the first. I am surprised many people get sick on this ride. It is just a combination of rides put together. The invlovement in and on the ride really adds to the experience. Everyone who rides gets to do something. This is a ride everyone should see if they can handle it. If you survived Tower of Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster you can handle this ride for sure.
This was a big hit of the family. At first I was not too keen on the drop. I am not a freefall guy. However I knew the ride was more visual effects than the drop. The visuals were really cool. And the drop(s) were very tolerable. The ride is a must see in my book. The Cast Member that escorts you to the elevator also adds to the experience.
I was rather upset at the length of the ride. It was way too short. The best part was the big drop and that was all. The visuals are indeed fantastic, but there are more than visuals to a ride. I would not ride more than once per trip if that.
I have never been as disappointed by a Disney attraction as I was by Kali River Rapids. After waiting over 90 minutes in an off-peak visit (all other attractions, even the most popular, were no more than 30 minutes waits), I was shocked by how short and uneventful the ride was. It's as if the first 1/8th of a full attraction was built rather than the usual fully Disney experience. Definately not worth your time, unless you really want to get wet. But all things considered, it's about as exciting as a cold shower.
This attraction does not begin well. The cue is extremely dull. There are vaguely interesting museum type exhibits to look at, but all in all it is an extremely stagnent experience. What's more, the line doesn't seem to move terribly fast -- perhaps this is perceived because of the uninteresting surrounding. The building itself is a bit of a shameless rip-off of the main building from the original Jurassic Park film. After the pre-show, which gets some bonus points for having the extremely wonder Phylicia Rashad as the head of the Dino-Institute, you enter a much more interesting loading area. The ride vehicles, as well as the exact track layout, are directly taken from the Disneyland Indiana Jones attraction. The cars have been appropriately rethemed. Using a special hydrolic system, the vehicle simulate rough terrain through a dinosaur filled landscape. The ride is extremely rough and disorienting. Much takes place in total darkness with very loud sounds. It makes for a fun ride, but leave the kids with grandma and grandpa for this one.
First off, this isn't an attraction for young children. It seems to scare everyone under the age of 5 with ease. I've yet to experience the attraction without hysterical crying filling the theatre. However, this is a GREAT film. In my opinion, Disney perfected the immersive 3D movie form with this attraction. The use of some very impressive animatronics, along with a crisp 3D film an countless other effects (not just the simple squirts of water anymore!), make this a real treat. The story is simple to non-existant... but that makes for a higher re-experience value, in my mind. It's just good fun. And the location of the film... the trunk of the tree of life... makes for one of the best cueing experiences there is.
Disney totally hit the jackpot with creative ride experiences when they made the Tower of Terror. No other attraction takes a rider in so completely from the time they enter the cue. The world is so impressively immersive -- a garden fallen to decay, and hotel rotting away in the Hollywood hillside -- it's all so amazing. The reuse of a pre-ride intro room by way of the Haunted Mansion really sets to ton for the actual ride experience. Once aboard the elevators, I am always amazed that there is so much more than a simple up and down. A must for any thrill ride enthusiast!
GREAT show....but Illuminations still has me blown away!
Stayed may 7-9 in Casitas 5355 ROOMS: the worse I have seen in Disney. Poor Decor. Small. One sink. No doors in closets. Beds were hard. BUT ALWAYS CLEAN!!! I have always stayed at Deluxe Hotels on Disney and now we are going to try the Moderates to experience all the hotels in Disney. This was not a good start. Only makes me wonder about the Value Resorts. Theme was great. Loved the Lobby area and the Food Court. But the prices in the food court are crazy! But thats on any resort. Property was BEAUTIFUL. I mean the lake, trees, flowers, wildlife, its all just beautiful and acutally makes you forget how bad your room is. Transportation is great. Bus stop near all areas of the property and quick also. Check In Service was also GREAT. Quick and the room was actually available at 9:Am when we got there. Over all I am glad I paid the Florida Res Rate and not the normal rate. I would stay here again if I had no choice...but I have plenty of other Moderates to stay at in the next few years! Again loved and enjoyed my stay!!!!
My wife and I are frequent EPCOT visitors and try to eat at least one lunch here when we are there. The last few times we have eaten, the waiters have pushed the higher priced wines on us rather than the house wines which we enjoy. Their Caesar Salad is the best we have ever tried with large baked parmasean(sp?) crouton. We usually split a portion of Alfredo which is just enough for two people. This typical lunch holds the bill to a managable total. Overall a good lunch spot especially if you can eat on the patio in a sunny day. Just stand frim with the waiters and the learn quick.
My all time faivorite Diz attraction has got to be the Haunted Mansion. Its hard to believe an attraction that is so old is still worthy today - a timeless masterpiece.
The one that started it all for WDW. The MK will always be my favorite Diz theme park. It made a strong impression on me when I was 5 (1978) and visited for the first time, so I'm probably a little biased.
I'll go on any coaster there is, but have always had a slight fear freefall type rides. TOT is a classic and scares the c^&% out of me every time I go to WDW. This is a must ride attraction if you like thrill rides and by far the best freefall ride around.
I went on this ride for the first time this year after being told by family members that I would be fine (which of course I was) I've gone to disney for the past 12 years seeing as i'm only 12 but I've never gotten up the guts to ride this ride! Finally I did and it was amazing! You just wish they'd drop you more! However I'm in for a surprise when i don't get dropped very far because both times i've been on it we dropped 13 stories twice!
Looking at Splash Mountain may be a bit intimidating if your a first timer. I even got scared after i'd done it twice! But just get on the ride and you'll have a blast! If you like the dropping feeling. And remember (if the weather is nice) people with poncho's are just woosy's!
we stay here every year and have loved it every time! it has everything you need and you are still part of the magic also love the value price!
You will find the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafé just inside the Norway pavilion on the left hand side as you face the Maelstrom. Go inside and you will find a wonderful selection of VERY tasty cakes and desserts. My favorite so far is the Strawberry Cake. Word has obviously gotten out about how good the things taste here, as it seems to attract a pretty good queue, which occupies the majority of the interior space. Be prepared for a 20 minute wait at peak times. I would suggest getting your cakes, and take your family and friends or that special someone out to the Lagoon area to eat. Enjoy!
A 'Must Do', if there ever was one. From the incredible queue to the Photo Viewing area, this is my absolute favorite attraction at WDW. Lots of #1As but only one #1... If you're ever fortunate enough to be on 'The Mountain' during the fireworks, it's something you will NEVER forget!
From your first step into the Queue until you exit the gift shop, you are IN the Twilight Zone. Absolutely incredible theming and the ride itself is SUPERB.....
This should be on everyone's list of things to see. I bought the CD so that I could bring the music home. I have seen it 3 times so far and can't wait until I go in December to see it again!
I have stayed at the French Quarter 6 times, and I must say that I preferred it to the Grand Floridian, where I stayed twice. FQ is absolutely beautiful! The landscaping is stunning, the wrought iron adds a touch of whimsy, and the buildings are very festive. The lobby is beautiful and airy, and they have a great store and arcade. The food court is huge and has wonderful food (gotta try the M&M cookies!!). The staff is unbelievably wonderful. The last time we were there, we got towel animals every day, complete with sticker faces. One day, a stuffed Winnie-the-Pooh I had bought was sitting in bed with the remote in his "hand" and the TV was actually on!!! How cute is that? The boat ride to Downtown Disney is so relaxing and pretty. The bus service is great, and you always get a seat because you are the first stop. The laundry services were great, I used them many times. The pool is wonderfully themed, love the slide. In my opinion, it competes with Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club. The only drawback is that they took out Bonfamille's, the only full-service restaurant, when they merged the two resorts. Other than that, the resort is picture perfect. I haven't been there since the room renovations, but I have seen pictures and they are beautiful. This is definitely my favorite hotel and it is VERY romantic for couples as well as being very kid friendly. I highly recommend it.
When we go to Disney, we usually go with my parents who need an occasional break from the hustle and bustle. This is perfect to relax for a while and rest your tired feet!
Three generations of our family count this among their favorite restaurants at WDW. The food is good, as are the margaritas, but the reason to go is the "feel" of the place. This is the place for atmosphere at EPCOT.
On a recent "magical gatherings" vacation we booked O'hanas to end a full day at Magic Kingdom. After all of the walking & sensory-overload our group of 11, which ranged in age from 1 to 60, walked off the monorail hungry, tired and wet (from one of Florida's infamous afternoon rain showers). From our first glimpse of the beautiful Polynesian Resort to our pineapple & caramel dessert, we could not have been more pleased with this decision. We were seated within 10 minutes of our p.s. and our waiter brought the appetizers and drinks within minutes of our arrival. The food was delicious and abundant, the activities were fun but not overwhelming, and the adult cocktails were refreshing (and non-existent within MK itself). I strongly recommend this restaurant for families that want the end-of-the-first-day meal to be delicious and memorable instead of drawn-out and cranky.
One night stay - April 8, 2004. Secluded is the word here. Cabins are self contained and private. Buses take you all around the campground, but it takes a while to get from A to B. We felt "away from it ALL" including being away from Disney! Very polite, informative cast members at registration. Most campground activities did not appeal to my pre-teens and teenagers. Ignore my rating for swimming pool, as we didn't see it. Cabins accomodate 6, but with only one bathroom.
Registration was quick and easy. Lost key/ticket was quickly replaced with no problem. Connecting rooms in Casitas Bldg 5 were clean, well equipped, quiet and in good condition. Invisible maid service was perfect. Pools were fun and easily accessible. Extra points for large hot tub and water slide. Bus transportation may be the best of any resort because you don't share with other resorts. When you leave CSR for MK, you go straight to MK and vice versa. Points off for denied parking access at registration area after check in.
Been there 5 times never once let down. The busses here work better than ANY other disney resort.
Comparable to PhilharMagic. Great fun for the whole family!!! The effects and jokes are enough to keep both kids and adults alike happy.
From what I read, I expected a lot more from the Polynesian. Instead, the hotel seemed dark, dingy, and depressing. We had stayed at the BC and GF before and both were three times better than this hotel. We had switched here from the BC halfway through our trip (shame on us for booking so late) and everyone wanted to go back. The pool was tiny compared to other hotels (especially since the only other pool was closed), although the underwater music was very nice. The rooms weren't anything exciting; it seemed cheap (we were in a previously refurbished longhouse). The worst part was that our room looked right out towards the GF, making everyone long for those bright, airy rooms. The lobby isn't anything great either. The big waterfall engulfs the space and hinders the flow of guests. The only thing that I loved about this hotel is the monorail access (walk straight to TTC for Epcot too). Overall, though, I would definitely recommend any of the Epcot resorts or the GF anyday over this place.
This is the ride that I always looked forward to when I was a kid. It is still a must ride, but the ride itself has lost a lot of luster. It all about the darkness because without the darkness it is Primeval Whirl. The themeing is still real good. This ride is more about nostalgia to me then the actually thrill of the ride.
The Boardwalk Resort is unbelievable....I loved the theme, and the Boardwalk area is just so cool.
The best show in all of WDW! Nothing further needs to be said.
We stayed at the Pop Century this past January. We had a great time, the rooms were nice, a little small but we got by. Staff was more then friendly.I would recommend this resort to any family who is trying to save a little money. The food court had an decent selection of various foods. We can not wait to go back!
The food is very good quality! The best though and most would agreee is the ice cream! The stuff is the best and the portions are huge. If the kids get crazy from all of the food simply let them walk 3 feet into the arcade! This is a must for anyone staying in the boardwalk area!!!!
Outstanding show! I could see it over and over and over again!
I'm a huge Haunted Mansion fan... and I'm sorry that I wasted my time in line for this.
What an amazing show! Usually I'm not a big fan of the Disney night-time shows, besides Illuminations, but this one took my breath away and I'm glad that I saw it.
Where to start? The employees at this resort went out of there way to make sure that every need was met with efficiency and a smile. The close proximity to Epcot, MGM, and the Boardwalk made it a nice touch to be able to get back to your room after a long day.
We stayed here back in May of 2002 and I was very disappointed. Our hallway had a distinct "urine" smell to it, our room had a king size murphy bed that pulled out of the way. We expressed our displeasure to the front desk but with no avail. Thankfully there were some highlights like Beaches & Cream and Stormalong Bay.
We stayed for two nights, with a Savanah view, back in January. What a great time! It was amazing to see animals right outside our balcony any time we looked out the window. It was fun to explore the resort and enjoy the quiet corners and areas, very relaxing.
the only thing worst than eating here once was eating here twice. Both times the food was not close to being Disney quality. I guess since its the only sit down at OKW who cares.
Shore As Yore Born! I love this ride! Guests get to see Brer Rabbit's escapades as they ride along in this Song of the South themed log flume ride. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security, tho, that humongous drop at the end will shore enuf settle your hash! Be prepared for the possibility of gettin' real wet! And keep an eye out for Brer Fox and Brer Bear--they out there, lurking about and lookin' to settle Brer Rabbit's hash! This Southerner highly recommends the Splash Mountain experience!
We had dinner with Cinderella. It was the best experience. The food was excellent and the kids loved make your own sundays. My daughter also had Tea With ALice and it was adorable. They had little sandwiches and juice.
We had a wonderful time. We loved the easy access to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. The kids loved the playground. They need a bigger food court. But we had a wonderful time. Definitely would stay there again.
It's such a fun ride I reccomend people going on it.
Great parade that you may get to be a part of. It is fairly easy to get a front row seat at this parade. The path stretches around the Tree of Life. The wall near Pizzafari is very good. Shade from the trees and not many people are allowed there. Mickey and the gang thow a decent party in the jungle of the Animal Kingdom.
The original was the best. I wish EPCOT had a parade to watch.
They claim this to be the largest of the firsworks shows yet, but I still think Illuminations is bigger. Personal recommendation for viewing is just past Main Street but before the Partners Statue (near the Tip Board). This show is much better than Fantasy in the Sky. The music blends very well witht he show and the new launch locations around the Caslte are incredible. Total running time is about 12mins.
I guess I was expecting more with this resort for some reason. The resort is huge and has three different sections. It also has a convention center and all the space to go with it. The main dining hall is very unique (Pepper Market) but is slightly on the expensive side. I did enjoy my time here but in the future would rather spend the money at another moderate resort such as Port Orleans or the like.
I have already stayed there twice, Once on opening night and the other a few months later. Very nice resort. Many of the known problems with the All-Star resorts were fixed when designing this resort. Be careful when walking in the Rubix Cube stairwells, they will give you the sensation that you are moving side to side.
I don't like roller coasters, but I love Test Track. It is my favorite ride in DW.
A ride that can be repeated and enjoyed again and again. One of the few classic rides that has stood the test of time and new tech.
Good way to spend the day in Downtown Disney. Has lots to do for Kids
It is the biggest themepark, a 60+ MPH slide and a 1200 ft family tube ride and more! What more could you ask?
THE NICEST SERVER AT WDW. BUT THE THE SERVINGS WERE SMALL AND ALL OF THE GOOD THINGS I HAVE HEARD OF WERE NOT THAT GREAT(BREADSTICKS-CHEESE SOUP -STEAKS)AND SEEMED TO BE OVERPRICED.SHOULD BE TRIED ONCE.
Best hotel ever. Its so queit and an amazing thing to be in
One of the more enjoyable rides, funny, kid friendly, and great preshow. Not to mention a nice break from the hot sun
This has to be the biggest time waster in the whole park, a 90min wait in 90 degrees for a 60sec ride.
Its an amazing ride and it is different cause it is so much more interactive than any other ride
I must be missing something. This place constantly gets a bad rap, but I don't think it's bad at all. Is it a perfect dining option? No. Is it overpriced? Probably, but what sit down isn't overpriced at WDW? Yes, you can also find a similar menu off property for less money. I do feel however that this restaurant is a viable option. The food really is quite good. The portion sizes have a tendency to be very large, and very filling (a rarity for chinese food). The service is always prompt and friendly. My advise, to get the most for your dollar, get the sampler for two. There is enough food in this offering to feed at the very least 3 people. To me, that's value, and I like to get the most out of my $
Disney has always done great eireworks, but this just blew my mind. It was wonderful. The best fireworks show i have ever seen. It was pure Disney Magic. I just WHISH it where longer.
It was neat to go on this and see everything from above. We rarely did it because the lines were always so long. It was a good ride but not worth the wait. What angers me is they took it out a while ago and the stations are still being unused and are just waisting space.
I was suprised at how good this was. I did however get a little sick of the same smell throughout the entire thing.
This was my favorite ride and MK and i was very sad when they took it out. It was great, and every time the "train" was coming at you I got scared, it was great.
I have to say the ride it self is a lot better than the second version. I am glad that they brought figment back, but it still does ot even come close to the first. The post area is the worst thing ever though. It used to be my favorite thing to do in Epcot when i was little. Now it is boring. They NEED to bring back everything from the first one, they could update it and it would be great again.
It was an okay ride, but I expected a lot more. I have been waiting years for this ride and was disappointed. There is no way that Mission Space is better than Horizons
This was one of my favorite things at Epcot. I miss it greatly. It was a very interesting attraction. I was young when I first went on it and I still loved it. I have been on Mission Space, and it is in no way better, I miss Horisons and wish it would come back.
I have been to Disney 22 times and i go back to see this every time. I love it. It reminds me of when i was little. Although it may be a little outdated it is still a good show and a good rest. The pre show is very funny also, that is one of the best parts.
This is one of the best rides ever. I can't get enough of it. I especially love the detail, everyhting from the queue area to the end of the ride has somany things that you could ride it forever and never see everything. It can be scary for little kids but if they can handle a thrill it is great and a must see. I have been there when the lines are really long and that can be annoying. I say if you have never been on it then you should wait, it is that good.
This is by far my favorite thing to do at Disney World. I have made it in the hot seat three times and it is lots of fun. I have found no problem with getting a seat, often you can go the the person at the Fast Pass kiosks and get one for a show starting in a few minutes. It is always fun trying to get in the hot seat or even beat your friends. My advice to try to get in the hot seat is as soon as you know the answer start tapping that butten as fast as possible and keep tapping till you see that it is pressed. You wont get in if you just leisurely press the button after they light up. It is great fun and amasingly hard once you get up there, I would call it a must see!
MY WIFE AND I STAYED AT AKL ON OUR HONEYMOON IN OCT'02, WHEN WE WALKED THROUGHT THE DOORS IT WAS OUTSTANDIG! THE THEMEING, MUSIC AND THE CAST MEMBERS WERE GREAT. BOTH THE JIKO AND THE BOMA HAVE EXCELLENT FOOD THEY WILL HAVE YOU COMING BACK FOR MORE. i WOULD RECOMMEND THIS RESORT TO ANYONE LOOKING TO HAVE A GREAT VACATION.
Great resort, great value, short lines for the buses makes for an enjoyable ride to and from the parks with children of younger ages. The short boat rides to downtown disney are quiet, pleasant, and fun for the kids gives them a time to unwind. The staff was very polite, and accomdating. The food court is very kid friendly includes a large screen tv for the kids to watch disney shows while they eat. The lounge is small and quaint for those evenings away from the kids.
It's especially fun if you go in costume! My wife and I come up with light portable costumes. That way we can bring them to the park in a small carry on bag. We go to the park during the day and leave the bag in a rented locker. Once the Halloween party starts we change into our costumes.
This was my first cruise and it was wonderful! When Disney does something they do it right. Walking into the atrium was just breathtaking. Everything was so well layed out. You can enjoy this cruise even if you don't like Disney. If you want to see the characters you see them if you don't you don't. I saw them only three times. And I can go on and on about the food. But it would take a couple of pages so I wont. Even our table mates said they could never do another cruise line again. And when you see the Disney Ships in port with the other ships you that the Disney Ships are just so Beautiful and are really the only cruise ships today that really look like ships. And I can't wait for my Disney Magic cruise in March. So if you want to do a cruise do Disney. TRUST ME!
Favorite resort at WDW. Sure, it has great service, since it is a deluxe resort, and the great pool. But it is my favorite beacuse the location cannot be beat. Two of the four parks are walkable and with all the other resorts nearby, you are really right in the middle of the magic at all times. Just a great place.
Over the 7 years I have been going to Disney regularly (1 - 2 several day trips each year), I think the bus system has improved. Especially in the last couple years, waits (overall) have been shorter and I have experienced less of the phenomena where three buses for one location show up before one bus for another location does. Overall, a very pleasant, convenient and (lately) more timely and efficient service.
Favorite restaurant at WDW. Fabulous food (somewhat adventurous, but not too crazy), great wine list (all South African wines) and just a beautiful place. Also, Boma is so popular, Jiko seems to be somewhat overlooked, so it rarely seems to be incredibly crowded.
its a great ride...... Classic.... shouldn't be missed. I love the theming and the buggys and the whole aspect of the ride. Everything symbolizes disney magic
This was one of my favorite rides and shall be missed....
I have been 2 disney world 14 times, and every trip i ride this.... its my favorite. It is so relaxing and allows u 2 check out lines, rest, and take in some disney magic. I love the audio and when u go inside rides (such as Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear) and the models and views into the shop. I wonder how it'll change because of Alien Encounter now becoming Stich...... anyways this ride is both family friendly and gives u a great veiw. Every1 can enjoy, wiether u like thrill rides (myself) or u enjoy kiddie rides, or u enjoy anytype of rides (again myself lol) IT SHOULD NEVER B MISSED!!!! lol
Woosh! THUMP! Did not have a very good experience at Le Cellier. First off, I did like the theming of the dining room. Beautiful atmosphere. Woosh!Thump! The dinner menu was not exactly expansive. Not much to choose from. Woosh! Thump! The portions were rather anemic. I ordered the free range chicken. Decent amount of chicken, but only enough spaetzle and mushrooms to fill up a mouse. Woosh! Thump! The table? Next time I go to Le Cellier, I'll bring a piece of wood to shove under the leg to keep it from wobbling... actually, I won't be going back, so I won't need to bring any wood. Woosh! Thump! Oh, by the way, are you wondering why all the "Woosh!" and "Thump!"? That's because we got sat in between the two kitchen doors. Approximately every 2 seconds a server would race by the table (just narrowly avoiding contact with myself and my fiancee), bust open the doors, which would never fail to slam shut with a resounding "THUMP!". Thanks for the headache, Le Cellier! If anyone ever tries to guide you to the "Table next to the fireplace"... Run screaming, and beg for another table.
In a word, amazing. The overall experience was incredible. Be sure to take in all the craftsmanship, whether it's the furniture in your room, or in the lobby. Peruse the exhibits throughout the hotel. View the animals. Drop in on the nighttime story at the fire outside. To enhance your experience, if at all possible, pay a little more for the concierge service and a savannah view. You will absolutely not regret it.
This ride is one of the best themed rides at Disney World. The sky for example looks like a real sky at nighttime. Throughout the whole attraction i feel like I really AM in a carribean town with pirates. This ride clearly amplifies the quality and "magic" of Walt Disney World. A one-of-a-kind thrill, a must see.
Space Mountain captures your imagination and spirit as you are rocketed through space. The theming of the ride cannot be beat and the ride itself is a great thrill. The music sends a chill of excitment to your bones. Space Mountain, fantastic and fun, is a ride that cannot be missed.
I just love this ride! It's always a thrill to get on, hear, "Hold on to your hats!" and then feel your train go tearing down the tracks, through the mineshafts, past the dino bones and the digging equipment, taking hairpin turns at breakneck speed and cruising down inclines. Is it the scariest coaster? Not at all. But it's a heckuva lotta fun and worth standing in line for!
On the whole, I really enjoyed my stay at Coronado Springs. Because this is Disney's convention resort, there tend to be fewer children here than at the othe resorts. They have very nice quiet pools, clean laundry facilities, and a varied and interesting decor. I stayed in the Casitas section, which has a sort of a Mexican city flavor to it. I really enjoyed the fact that the Casitas were very quiet. I didn't think much of the Pepper Market. But CSR does have a very nice resort store. I found the bus service to be excellent and almost never crowded. This resort is very close to Blizzard Beach.
The musical selections are excellent, it's about time they did something like this. I haven't seen it in person, but I saw it online. This show beats Illuminations as best fireworks on property. Go see it ASAP.
I say this is the ultimate due to the theming, pool, and rooms. The only throwback is the rack rate of $300.00 per nite. At $159.00 (what we paid in 1999), it was a bargain. The addition of a food court similar to Port Orleans' would be a big plus. Otherwise, it is the type of resort that my family could spend several days and never go to the theme parks. And when spending the afternoon in the pool; Tigger sometimes bounces in!
I can't believe that in over 25 stays with WDW; I had never tried this resort. I was very pleased and plan to stay there again. It was a fantastic resort for $79.00 per nite. The food court was nice, with a nice selection for all.
I was lucky enough to get a room in the 50's section that overlooked Hourglass Lake and provided a clear view of the fireworks from Illuminations (trees blocked any lower element of the show). While the rooms are small and the amenities few, Pop Century is extremely clean and has a wonderfully kitschy exterior. The CMs are friendly and helpful, the food court is good, and I believe it worth the (relatively) low rate.
I really enjoyed this show. It's wonderfully choreographed and visually stunning. I particularly liked watching the fireworks come in from the left and right sides of my field of vision in perfect unison. An improvement over Fantasy in the Sky and a great way to end the day at the MK.
This is one bizarre attraction. The pre-show featuring the voices of Phil Hartman (R.I.P.) and Don Rickles is a riot. The attraction itself is unique, and I mean that as a compliment. It's visually interesting, engaging, and contains fun music. Some will say it's too "out there" and others may lament the loss of the original version, but I find this attraction as is to be entertaining.
This attraction features an interesting pre-show display area that political junkies and history buffs will love. I enjoyed reading President Nixon's 8th grade autobiographical essay ending with him saying he wants to go into politics where he can do some good. I also enjoyed seeing the presidential portraits. As for the show itself, the emphasis is on American ideals. While not a great history lesson or an exciting presentation, it is upbeat and patriotic. One big beef: during the presidential roll call, the spotlight on each audio-animatronic president isn't obvious enough. It's a large stage and hard to scan quickly when the visual cues are so subtle.
This review was meant for the new "Under New Management" version of the attraction.
My husband & i really enjoyed our visit and while the rooms were nice, it was very small. If we had brought our kids (ages 11 & 16), we would have been on top of one another. The food court area is nice and has a huge selection of different foods to choose from but we found that very late at night, the selection is diminished because they start closing the food counters one at a time. The buses seem to have been running appx. every 15 minutes or so, but they were never really crowded either. Our room was looked near the end of the 80's building right by a parking lot but it was amazingly quiet. We heard very little outside noise and no noise from the other rooms to speak of. Housekeeping seemed to be doing it's job; when we left for the marathon, we had left the "privacy" sign on the door & when we returned, they had left a bag with fresh towels on the door knob. As I jogged around the complex the morning we were leaving, I noticed that across the "Hourglass Lake" there seems to be another building going up. We enjoyed ourselves so much that for the 2006 marathon, we might try to stay there if it's available!
This 3D musical show is a great, great addition to the MK ... a multi-sensory experience and a real winner for all ages. I got a big kick out of the champagne bottle effect and the star of the show: the put upon but still ornery Donald Duck.
This is a slow-moving, upbeat show with great narration by Jean Sheperd (the adult voice of Ralphie from "A Christmas Story"). The kitschy audio-animatronic visuals and story of how home life has changed in the last 100 years were good enough to hold my interest. Barely. I wouldn't go out of my way to see this, but if the line is short and you're hot, give it a look.
Not really much of an attraction. You get samples of Coke products from around the globe. While its "worldliness" could be used as an argument for its admission to the World Showcase section of Epcot, its tackiness would assuredly prevent any such entry. As for the drinks themselves, only the German one passed the smell test and earned a taste.
Worth a look if you have the time. The first half is classic Disney dark ride with scenes depicting different climates. Nothing majorly exciting, but it IS educational. The second half is the more interesting half. You are taken through Disney's crop research lab and shown a wealth of fruit and vegetable plants while the guide explains what Disney researchers are working on in conjunction with the U.S.D.A. This was better than I had expected.
Unquestionably the least entertaining of the four 3D movies in the Disney parks. The story - "Inventor of the Year Awards" - is interesting enough and there is a great 3D effect early on involving the award ceremonies' logo, but the rest is just so-so. It has a couple of other moments that may frighten children, but not adults. However, adults WILL be frightened by the pre-show. The company (which shall remain nameless) sponsoring the show provided the most insipid, nauseating little film vignettes seen anywhere in Disney. I'm all for happy endings and such, but oy.
I suppose this could be a test coaster for kids, but it's not particularly thrilling. I understand the theming of Dinoland - dino bones discovered in Anytown, USA, and the town becomes a tourist destination. Given that context, the area's theming (including this attraction) makes sense. But the real question is whether or not this was something worth emulating. I think not. This ride and the surrounding games are not any better than what you might find at your local carnival. Just cleaner. I was thoroughly unimpressed with Primeval Whirl. In Dinoland, the attractions not to be missed are Dinosaur and The Boneyard.
A tame (heh) bird act. The tricks are related to the birds' actual skills, rather than having them ride a tiny bike. The birds are beautiful and people of all ages should enjoy this show.
This is one dark, loud, and bumpy ride (not that those are BAD qualities, per se). It has a cool storyline, and the audio-animatronic dinos are plenty scary. Scary enough to traumatize little kids. Fun for teens and adults, though.
The posters in the pre-show area are an absolute riot. The show itself is a lot of fun with phenomenal in-theater effects. I particularly like the announcements at the start ("During the performance, please refrain from buzzing, stinging, or pollinating" HAHA!!).
This tour is divided into three segments. The first is a very amusing and interesting discussion surrounding character development, featuring Mushu from Mulan and a live Disney Cast Member. The second section is significantly less entertaining. A Cast Member talks about animated features with an emphasis on ones from the now defunct Florida Animation Department. Dullsville. In the final segment, you can either browse the Animation Gallery or spend ten minutes in the Animation Academy to learn how to draw a character. The gallery has some great exhibits; the Buzz and Woody concept drawings are of particular interest. Also of note: the Animation Gallery and Academy are directly accessible from the Animation Courtyard (in other words, you don't need to go through the first two segments to experience the last). Bottom line - the value of the first part of the tour more than makes up for the dearth of entertainment in the middle section. While there's no easy escape from the second part (you'll have to suffer through it), you do have the opportunity to check your Times Guide to see what you'd like to do next.
This is a fun show with three separate "scenes" demonstrating different stunts. During the pre-show, the Casting Director chooses several people from the audience to act as extras in the scenes. This process, as well as the between scene banter between various crew members, is pretty funny. The scenes and stunts themselves are impressive; the performers' timing is precise.
Despite some needed renovations (we stayed 3/03)I found the grounds extremely beautiful and smelled wonderful! Just walking around the area was so relaxing! The buses ran great. The food court seemed very busy at the normal rush times and the restaurant had a very long wait list. The store offered alot of variety and the kids enjoyed the main pool area. Be prepared to take long walks for everything, unless you stay by the main lobby. I was thoroughly impressed with this "moderate" resort. I would definitely stay again.
Thrill-lovers and cautious-folks too will LOVE Mission:Space. It's definently NOT for the faint of heart, but it's at least worth TRYING! Greatest Epcot ride to date!
Fantasia Gardens is a great place to start your trip the day you arrive! Be sure to remember this - the "hard" course is VERY hard. Do NOT go on it unless you want to "take 6 strokes" every time. The theming of the "easy" course is FAR better and is true put-put. Fantasia Gardens is quite expensive, but, hey, it's Disney - what isn't?
Bland ride - a miniature version of It's a Small World. Queue times have shrunk immensely the past few years, so go on it to beat the heat, or if you just need to relax. At least go inside the Mexico pavillion, it is simply AMAZING.
Do NOT miss this! One of the very best attractions in the world, hands down.
A complete clone of the Star Tours ride system, but with a terrible storyline, no pilot, and a lot more shakes. Only go if you were good on Star Tours or if you can handle a good rattle. Also, only go if there's a very small wait - it's not worth it otherwise.
Hate to be the odd one out here, but I have to personally disagree... The scene is May 2003 on our trip's first night at Disney World. I was taking my girlfriend out for a long-overdue dinner to celebrate both her graduation and out 2 and a half year anniversary to a place I heard SOOO many good reviews about. We booked an hour and a half before the fireworks and was told by a Disney Rep on the phone that we'd be seated at a window if we arrived early enough and requested it. We arrived THREE hours before our reservation and requested a window. The place was already PACKED and the employees were very irrate and disgruntled. He told me "we'll see" when I asked him if we'll be getting a window. The place's waiting area is like 2 chairs and a couch, so we were forced to sit on the floor against a wall for 3 hours and watch the EXACT same people who were LONG done with their meals when we arrived not budge. They weren't asked to leave or anything, just sat there at empty table by the glass and waited for the fireworks. To make matters worse, when we were finally seated LONG after the fireworks were over, we didn't even get a window. The food choices were terribly small and when we got our $27/each meals, they were the most disgusting things I've ever eaten, but I suffered through every second to make sure I got my $27 in me. My girlfriend was equally displeased and that ended a terrible night after we left. But nonetheless we went for us, not for Disney. I reccomend eating elsewhere, personally.
the pricing is steeeep, but using my vacation club status gets some bucks off. it is quite fun, and amusing, on both sides. kids and adults will like it.
I love that the MK has so many spots to go and relax at, including some rides. this being an excellent way to check out other rides, and to get some nice breezy air. it is very cool to be on the ride while the fireworks are going on, though timing is everything for that.
this is one of the best kept secrets in the MK. I love going in here for some A/C and photo ops, and there are plenty of places to stretch out and relax in. great for families with tired and sleepy kids who don't want ot travel all the way back to their hotel, they can take a nap right here while you watch oldcartoons!
one of the best themed and most exciting rides in all of disney, this one should not be missed. the thrill is not just the one big drop, but there are several throughout the ride. a very good length for a water flume ride, and you can get decently wet. dont take my word for it, go on it and enjoy it for yourself!
like wine, with age this ride gets better. a rollercoaster in the dark is brilliant, adding another level of anxiety to a rider who does not know where the track in front of them is going. it always takes me by surprise, and it will never get old. a true classic.
I do miss going up on this ride and the view from above. I understand that it was a risk for the park to keep it open, but I hope some day that they will bring it back.
I LOVE THIS RIDE. it is a must for any fan of any size, and everything about it is very good. I love that the attention to detail is well done, and the shop after is a swashbuckeling good time. you cant help but pick up a sword and pretend to be in a fight. with the recent movie, it makes my love for this ride only grow, and now I see the movie within the ride, and the ride within the movie. a must must must do for anyone, and another ride that will stand the test of time!
THis is a must do for anyone in my family, and sometimes we will take a walk to fantasy land just for this ride. I feel that I am really flying, and seeing the movie unfold before me. this is a great dark ride, and I hope it is around forever.
I so miss this ride. so so much. I really do think that they could have kept this ride, and put the pooh ride elsewhere. (doesn't disney have a bazillion miles of unused space. particularly near the magic kingdom?!) I loved going on this ride, and there isn't much more to say. RIP ol' buddy.
I do like going on this for a nice relaxing riverboat cruise, and at night is the best time.
I did enjoy this show, though now with the touring of the broadway version, it is pale in comaprison. I am exicted to see the new philharmagic show.
another classic, with a bit of need for an update. after kilimanjaro safaris, this one seems a bit lacking in comparison. but for the 'backside of water' joke, and the leasurly ride through several rainforests of the world, it is a fun ride.
So my dad tells me that I used to torture him with this ride. he now REFUSES to take his great nieces and nephews (and some day grandchildren) on this ride. dad and I now sit up in the food place andwatch down, making the husband and cousins go on it. I did like it at one time. but after that one trip, where I took my cousin (who was 20 at the time) on it for his first time, we got stuck in the 'white' room for nearly 35 minutes due to mechanical problems. and that was the end of it. no more of the d**n song. but great for kids, and those who are deaf and/or willing to take them on it.
My 24 year old friend still freaks out about going on this ride. she shakes and jumps at the scary parts, and doesn't like it when the ghosts sit on her lap. seriously. the haunted mansion has been another childhood favorite, and I cant get enough of it. every time I go in, I see something different and amazing, and I love seeing and hearing the reactions of other guests. I love that there is a story line behind the whole ride that isnt spoon fed to you, you ahve to talk to cast members and go looking on the web to find it. it is a timeless classic that I hope is around for my kids and grandkids and etc to see. and feel. and be creeped out by.
I love that they doubled this ride to hold more people, and it has been a childhood favorite. any ride that gives you a sensation of flying is perfect. the kids will love it, and they can control how high they go.
I miss this ride, and the big huge pop up book. but buzz is a crowd pleaser, and the ride was sure to finda time when it was outdated.
I love going on this with my little cousins, they are amused with the way the horses go up and down, and the recgonize the organ music playing. I like pretending i am a kid! I will be the crazy 22 year old girl waving to mom and dad like a little kid yelling "mommy look at meeee! daddy take a picture!" it is a nice joke once a trip anyway. if the line is long, only go if you kid is begging. otherwise, go off peak or early in the morning.
what more can my husband ask for? he has been placed in a real life video game! for those of us oldtimers that loved playing the duck hunt game on the old nintendo, we finally get to strut our stuff with our accuracy of shooting little lazers at things. kids will love it, parents will get a kick out of playing each other, and in the end, everyone gets to be a ranking official of some kind. a great ride!
I love going on this ol' ride over and over, I never get tired of it. cause this her's the wildst ride in the wil-der-nes! It is fun going on it at night, the view of the park is very cool, and it is fun not seeing the track in front of you. at night, you can more easily see some of the effects on the ride, since they light them up. during the day teh lines get long and hot, and with the addition of fast pass, the lines seemingly have gotten even longer. but still a must do!
this is my second favorite pavilion, and I love the jolly good time you can have here. the shopping is pretty cool, with the toys shop and a place where you can have a coat of arms made. the entertainment is fun, with the british invasion playing in the courtyard. I get to see alice and mary poppins here, two of my aboslute favs. the fish and chips are good, and I love getting a pint of guiness at the rose and crown. which by the way, they also have delicious food. a very cool place to visit! bob's your uncle! (it is a british thing.)
This is a very cool ride, but it has a lot going against it. if it is raining/storming, it can't go. and the ride breaks down a lot. and the lines are crazy mad long sometimes. but overall, it is a very cool idea. ever want to see what it would be like to be a crash test dummy? now you get to. and it is an nice look at how cars are tested. the end is pretty cool when you go zipping around outside.
I loved this ride! I can't say much more than how technologically advances this thing is, and how cool it is to 'go to mars'. say, if prez bush wants to go to mars, this is a much cheaper option than spending money he doesnt have! *stepping down from small soap box* but the simulation is cool, and the interaction is a fun idea. the barf bags were an excellent addition, and I am glad the ride does not last much longer than as is.
This is my favorite pavilion, it really takes me back to mexico. I have been to the ancient myan ruins, and seen the markets and people and music and food and ......whew. I love my trip to mexico, and this is the next best thing to it. the food is fab and the drinks are better. the market sells very similar to markets in mexico, and the jewelery is great. the performers are amazing! a must for any mexico-lover!
I love this ride, though the end show is booooring. so I tend to skip it. but the ride is fun. mostly a nostalgic thing for me, but still fun!
I love this ride, though several trips have resulted in long lines and no time to go on. I will some day get to go on it again, but it is quite fascinating and interesting, and I don't mind learning on vacation.
I miss the original, though this version is better than the 2nd. it is a good concept for a ride, but it replaces something that I used to love as one of my favorite rides. kids will love it, though they never knew the original, and the post show is pretty cool. I do miss the rainbow room. once I put the nostalgic feelings aside, I am ok and I like the ride.
the food alone is worth it (I have never met a pastrie that i didn't like.......) and the entertainment is amusing. the wine tasting is fab, and you can buy french wine in the stores. the show is ok, but the shopping is the fun part.
I love stepping into Japan, and the merch, food, and atmosphere is wonderful. I love the pond by the yakatori house!
My excellent rating comes from my addiction to fountain regualar coke. (dad is the same with diet coke). it is inviting to see the men and women in snow suits on a hot day, and it feels incredible to walk through into the store. it has some great merch for coke, everything from banks to tshirts to bottle openers, etc. you can taste coke products from around the world, which is amusing and fun (they do the same thing at the coca cola museum in atlanta.) it can get crowded at times, but well beore and after the park closes is a good time to go.
I do miss this ride, though I have to go on memory for this, it has been a long time since i last went on this ride. I loved walking up to the building and seeing the spiral staricase like movement of the cars, and going up was just as thrilling. the coolest part was the choosing of air, desert, space etc. I love the ocean one myself. enjoyable, but did need a few updates by the end.
The problem I have with this show is the que line and preshow junk. I always feel like part of the herd going into the theatres, and the kids don't like watching the lame-o kodak comerical. and they can't sit down. but the show itself is fun and enjoyable. the kiddies will love it, and some of the jokes are geared to the adults in the audience.
this is especially good when it is pooooring down rain outside, and there is nothing left to do within the pavilion. but, my two cousins enjoyed it, and for the next few hours they insisted that walking was good for us, and that we need to eat healthy. the are only 3 and 5 years old, but they learned something. it is nice to take a break and relax and watch cartoons for a few mintues, though you don't want to go out of your way for this one.
When I first went on this 'ride' it was cool. but hey, lets update the kid, and the clothes, and the slang terms. but it is a great concept, and i love the use of the guys from SNL. fun, worth going into if you need another thing to do, but don't make it a priority.
I did not like this ride at all. I know that star tours is basically the same thing, but really, it isn't. This one needs either a serious update, or to be taken out completely. I can handle many different kinds of rides, including simulation, but this one I can't. The movements are jerky, and the story line is junk. I would not recommend this one, even if the line is short and all other lines are long. Instead, skip it and check out cranium command.
THe concept of a ride/safari/zoo all within one is brilliant. why other theme parks or zoos never came up with this idea amazes me. Disney has completely outdone itself, and this ride will meet and exceed all expecations. Here, you are able to travel to africa, and so on a safari. though some animals can walk infront or beside you, the potentially harmful ones cannot. you are protected from the lions, etc by invisible fences and barriers, though you do get to see them decently up close. you get to sit back and relax or take pictures while you tour guide gives you all the info and points out where to look. there is a story line as well, but it is only secondary (or twenthdary) to the animals. this ride allows acutal modified trucks to go on paths, not tracks. the best time for this ride is early in the morning, when the animals are first waking up. To see the sun stand right behind the lioness and tiger is amazing, and the giraffes walk right infront of you. amazing. it is a different kind of thrill from tower of terror or dinosaur, but it is a thrill like no others.
I was a bit sad after I went on this ride, to realize that Six Flags Great America does it better. If you are looking to throw you kids on this ride, it is good for them. and if you want to get wet, there is no problem. But if you are looking for high thrills or even a medium length ride, you should forget kali rapids. if the line is short, it is worth walking on to get wet.
The que line for this ride isn't great outside, but inside is pretty amazing. Bill Nye the Science Guy tells you all about the different theories and possibilites surrounding dinosaures, and you can look at some cool stuff in the walls. it is a very interesting concept to a ride, where the only thing that really moves is your car with hydrolics, there is not many acutal dips in the floor. This is not for those young children (or adults) that scare easily.
Here is the perfect example of why I choose disney over other theme parks. The attention to detail is amazing, and everything is though of. The outside que line is ok by me, they have plenty of overhanging trees to cover the paths, as well as some mist that gives both a spooky effect and relief from the hot days in florida. I love listening to the jazzy/big bandy songs playing from somewhere in the thick of the overgrown gardens (yes, I know they come from rocks, but the illusion is still cool). Even once inside, you are thrown back into the glitz and glam, but upon closer look, you are reminded that you are in the current year, looking back. Using the old twilight zone guy (his name escapes me) is great, and you do feel like you are in the twilight zone. I have been on this ride from the time when there was only one 13 story drop, and even then it was pretty darn amazing. I like that they switch it up every few years. I do love the gift shop at the end (and the photo shop area too), there are some merchs to add to any home collection. I plan on getting one of the wrap around bath towels on my next visit. As long as disney is putting in thrill rides that please the eyes and ears as well, I will never be disapointed.
IT is hard to look at all of these catigories, then pick an overall rating. on first glance, it may not seem as an excellent ride, but I would differ. It does not set out to give kids the best time, nor major thrills, nor the best story line. I love this ride for the simple fact of my slight obsession with movies. I even became a film minor in college just so I had the opportunity to go and see these movies for free, to write and discuss, and to ultimatly find deeper meaning in film. I know my love of the movies started early on, but when I first rode this ride, I truely believed it was destiny for me to study film. ok, I was like 10 years old, but still. This ride will take you back from the busby berkley films to the gangster films (both which have had james cagney in them...) to our favorites in john wayne and judy garland. the best part of the ride, in my opinion, is the ending movie. now that i have had a chance to see most of the movies, I can now sit there and fully enjoy all of these performances at once, in a rush of emotion. I wish I could find a copy of this movie, so I could sit at home and freeze it frame by frame to see everything, to take everything in. after all, there is no buisness like show buisness........
This ride is so well done, I find little fault in it. The only thing I find average is the kid friendly portion, yet even then, depending on the kid, they may love it. It is some of the more subtle things I find intersting in the pre-show/que line, such as the 'g-force record' label, and the old radio equiptment. unfortuantly, the que line no longer gives you time to stop and check these things out. However, the beginning of the ride is so amazing and breathtaking, that the need for thrill overtakes the need for themeing. I am a huge Aerosmith fan, and now that i have been on the ride several billion times, I cannot picture (or hear) another band in their place. Their songs complement the ride quite well, and many generations of music lovers know their work. an excellent choice by dinsey!
the kiddy kingdom is a childhood favorite, a nostalgic favorite, and a classic for years to come. I find very little fault in anything here at the kingdom, and I really don't want to go searching for anything wrong. I do miss the mr. toad ride, but the pooh ride is cool. they have managed to keep the best rides in working order, and added new rides to the mix. the mountains are a must, along with pirates, mansion, and peter pan. I could spend days, weeks, months, and years just wandering around ,watching the crowds, and soaking up the mickey atmosphere. I would never get bored with the food, there are plenty of places to eat. the rides will keep me amused, and I can always get my hair cut at the harmony barber shop. Magic kingdom, don't ever change.
I love going to epcot, yet Idon't love everything about it. The world showcase is definatly my favoite, I love sampling food from around the world. even the world showcase is a long walk, and frequent stops are nice between the shopping and eating. Future world is nice, and it is getting better (though I wouldlove horizons to come back.) THe new mission:space is amazing, I never expected it to be so cool. test track is fun, as long as you don't have to wait too long. innoventions is very cool, but with a limited time on vacation or for each park, it is one of the overlooked attractions. The coca-cola thing is great, since i have a severe addiction to regular coke (it comes from dad, he is addicted to diet coke). The life pavilion needs some updating, we don't bother with it anymore. the land pavilion is so much fun, but the line for the land ride is always crazy mad long. so I haven't been on it in many years. it is a lot of walking for kids, and it isn't exactly kid friendly. it is nice to go off peak, and stroll around for a day or two.
I do love this park, but it is not yet a full park. more rides are definatly needed, though the ones they have no are a lot of fun. kilimanjaro is great, never the same ride twice. dinosaur is amazing, and its tough to be a bug is fun. definatly a half a day-day long trip here, and going back is not really needed. kid friendly in some areas, but not in all. the walking is a lot to take for kids, so strollers are needed, yet a nusience to everyone else. more food pavillons of any kind (either sit down or counter service) is needed, though again what they have is good. once more rides go in, this place will be spectacular!
this is my favorite park, only because of the whole movie thing. I love the movies, and anything with production of them. I love the work that MGM does with their rides, and ROck N Roller coaster and the tower of terror keep the thrill level high. the great movie ride (especially the end movie part) is great, and the muppets always put me in a good mood. the resteraunts are fun here, and the street performers are great.
I have spent many a nights here at the club, watching my beloved white sox and other chicago teams battle it out. the food is the best 'bar' kind of food ever, and the mega big screen is great. we spent 8 hours there new years day two years ago to watch our illini play, and we had the best time. great for the sports fan.
I love the Cirque shows, and La Nouba does not disapoint. Great for the whole family, and there are no smelly big animals. the young chinese girls and their act is amazing, and probably my favoite part of the whole show!
I love going home to OKW. there is any size room to suit to your taste, and the quiet and serene atmosphere is perfect. great golfers, families, and those who want peace after a long day at the parks.
we love staying here! my sister loves feeding the birds and ducks, and I love going to the main pool with the fun shopping. it is quiet here too!
I highly enjoyed this resort, including the ESPNclub. My only down side was with the vacation club part of the hotel, where we had to walk nearly to the other end of the resort. it was quite a walk after a day out.
I had an amazing time here, and the food, atmosphere, theming, and animals were so cool. if you like hanging out in the room, and you love animals, this is the place for you. Boma's is great, and I hear Jiko's is too.
even if you are staying in a value resort in disney, you are still staying in disney. you still get the same cast members, the same theming, and the same attention to detail. the only thing you may lack in is the size and style of your room. I enjoyed my stay here, it was still relitivly quiet, the pool was big enough for everone, and I had a nice bed to sleep in. the only down side is the food prices, not quite the 'value' you may be looking for. great for those who are going for the parks and a bed.
every place we have stayed with the vacation club is amazing. Old Key West and Vero Beach are perfect for relaxation, and I love the idea of going to our 'beach house'.
I love going back in time to the 50's and seeing some of the B-rated movies of the past. the food is definatly second to the theming, and after a while, you will feel that you are truely in a drive in theatre. Kids will love it if you let them drive. ;)
IT has been a while, but I did find this kind of out of the way place delicious. I can't get enough of their calamari and pasta dishes, and it is expensive yet delicious. we sat there for nearly 2 hours, so the service is by no means fast, but it is efficient.
going home to mom's kitchen is the best. the good ol' american food of the 1950's is great, everything from dad's mixed drinks to the chocolate shakes to the tv dinners to the smores dessert. you will literally feel right at home here, with your cousin or mom or aunt serving you dinner!
I really liked this place, until we went back this summer. I think they changed the shogun combo, and it is stillgood, yet it was better before.
I put good across the board, but my favorite part about this place is the fact you can sit down and overlook the 'its a small world ride'! I love hanging out with dad, watching my cousins and my husband go on, unknowing of what is ahead of them. we wave to people, and they wave back. we always get good laughs at little kids who find us amusing. we always go around 10:30 or 11 am, so NO one is there! we get the greatest seat in the house!
Good across the board, nice for families who can only please the kiddies with pizza. they have 'value' meals that are filling. go right when they open for the fastest service, warmest food, and best seating.
four words. chili. cheese. french. fries. my dad and I crave them the minute we get near pecos bills. they are big enough to split with someone else, but why?! eat 'em as a meal!
I love going here, since it is out of the way, and a lot of people neglect to see it. and I am addicted to mexican food of any kind. good nachos!
AFTER HAVING BEEN ON THE OVERHYPED MISSION SPACE RIDE THIS NEW DISNEY ADDITION WAS A PLEASENT SURPRISE. ANYONE WHO LIKES 3D MOVIES SHOULD LOVE THIS. EACH 3D DISNEY EFFORT SEEMS TO GET BETTER TECHINALLY. I WISH THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A PRESHOW INSTEAD OF BEING HERDED INTO A WAITING AREA. A MUPPETS TYPE PRESHOW WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE.
I love going to Casey's for my delicious hot dog, fries, coke, and brownie. I always know that I am getting some yummy food, and I know I will fill up on it no problem. I eat outside when the piano guy is out, and inside for the 'baseball' game. Chicagoians love their kosher dogs at the ballpark, and it is perfect for us!
I can't get enough of their choco-goodness. for the choco lover in you, it is the perfect place.
the lazy river alone keeps daddy happy, and the intertube rides keeps sister happy. mom loves the sandy 'beaches' and I cant get enough of that great wave pool. husband loves any kind of thrill, and he was like a kid in a candy store. shopping is decent, and the food it as well. I love being the first few people there, getting a place in the sand, and hitting the waves before anyone else. the surfing lessons are well worth it, and you get in before anyone else!
I did like blizzard beach, but I am a true softy for typhoon lagoon. the theming is cool. the rides are ok, but during peak seasons, it is tough to get on rides right away. off season, it is a lot more fun!
for those star wars fans (such as my husband), it is the greatest store ever. he found everything for his obsession, and I even enjoyed some ofthe interesting merch.
I think I am talking about the right place, but none the less. here it goes! My husband loves this place! we are both big movie fans, and he loves being able to find interesting stuff to put in our house!
My dad was like a kid going in and getting his hair cut. he even let it grow out, and refused to get his hair cut before the vacation. it was the first thing we did that morning, and it was a great way to start the day. the prices are reasonable, no more than you local barber (not supercuts, but a local person). gals can go in to, and they people are very friendly. ONe guy was from Illinois, and we had a grea ttime talking to him about his days back home. He was genuinely happy that we talked about home with him, and gave us (me and my sister) a bit of extra pixie dust to go with dads!
Skip this restaurant. Really. You won't be missing a thing that you can't get from your local Chinese restaurant back home. In fact, depending on where you live, your local Chinese restaurant might be much better than this overpriced mediocrity. Especially considering that there are much better restaurants at Epcot. The Singapore noodles I had were actually worse than the ones I can get at home and I live in a very small town. The dim sum was overpriced and flavorless. The service was okay and the decor and atmosphere was pretty uninspired.
I love the emporium, unless it is during the peak season. so many people in one store is not fun, and bobbing and weaving is not to fun. as a default, go here to find the ususal mickey and minnie stuff.
I love being a big kid in this store! disney themed games, stuffed animals (my husband got two ewoks from the star wars series. I have never seen him so amused.) and other such fun. it is quite fun to see the set up monorail system, and the 'life' game pieces on the celing. a must go for any kid of any size.
I like taking my little cousins here, but for a romantic evening out, it is not the place to go. it is noisy, big, and full of kids, but for the chucky-cheese kid inside, it is perfect. the food is ok, nothing outstanding, but just what kids love. the ice cream bar is great, with desserts that are pretty average, but who doesn't love brownies!? and cheesecake? priority seating recommended
I love the idea of african and american cuisine coming together at Bomas. we had dinner, and the next day, breakfast at Boma's, and mom is still talking about it! the price is a bit high, but it is buffet, and fabulous at it too. The desserts alone are to die for (I love the zebra thingys) and if you don't like the african fare, there is always the fallback of the american food. I would choose dinner over breakfast, only because I am not really a breakfast person. Highly recommended.
I love going back in time to the time of soda jerks and diners. ( and hey , I am only 22) the nostalga is screaming at you from every corner, and the food portion sizes are great! got a big family? and they like ice cream? get the 'everything but the kictchen sink' dessert. and just try to finish it!
ohana means family, and we felt right at home. great food .great service. and a great atmosphere for the whole family.
This is so much fun! It's not just for guys...girls, stop by & get your hair french braided with a little pixie dust too. It doesn't seem to matter what age person is in the chair, it always seems magical. :) So it's a little more than the local Supercuts, but you're paying for atmosphere too. Try it!
I'm not a huge fried fan, but this place has THE best fried chicken I've ever had! :) I think it's one of the best food deals on WDW property, we've always had good service w/ large parties there and it's never been overly crowded at the food stations. It's also a good opportunity to check out Ft. Wilderness before dinner! :)
*This wasn't meant for the character dining section, but hopefully will help if someone is considering dinner!* Sorry! We decided to have dinner instead of breakfast and am SO glad we tried it! The food was wonderful and I discovered my now favorite brand of tea while there as well. (Harney) The service was in the top three experiences we have ever had anywhere at WDW. The atmosphere is outstanding as well, I would definitely give it a try. If you have kids and couldn't make a PS for breakfast, I think kids would love dinner here as well. It has a very magical feeling.
Me and my 2 year old son stayed at the Swan and it was great, he loved taking the boats to Epcot and MGM,the service was great. we walked for hours looking at the Swan and the Dolphin and it is a great walk at night on the Boardwalk. I would definitely stay there again. The Heavenly beds are great and the view at night looking at the dolphin is great.
We've been to Disney a number of times and avoided this restaurant because of reviews I've seen elsewhere. However, during this last visit in early January we decided to take a chance on Chefs de France. Both the food and service were very good and all of us were pleasantly surprised at the warmth of the waitstaff. Take a chance and enjoy as our party did the good food along with very professional (and cordial) service.
Skip this. If you're in the German Pavilion and absolutely must have something to eat, without going into the Biergarten and paying for the sit-down buffet, then go into the candy shop and get some of that great German chocolate or gummi bears, or anything but the flavorless gruel they serve here. The menu lacks variety, but that's okay, because the food they're serving here, you really don't want anyway. I had some kind of pretzel roll, drowned in a tomato sauce with a cutlet, and it was so bad, I seriously contemplated taking my plate back and saying, "I can't eat this, Liebchen, give me my money back." The dining area is a darkened patio next to the entrance to Biergarten. It's covered, in case it starts to rain, but that's about the only positive thing I can say for it. Otherwise, it's a pretty depressing place to eat.
There aren't enough superlatives - the atmosphere is amazing, the food is fantastic (who would believe that filet would taste so good with mac 'n cheese?), the CM's are great and the pre- or post-dinner walk and sightseeing is worth the trip in itself! Like most upscale Disney restaurants, this one is not cheap - but it's worth it! If you like the California Grill, try Jiko's!
I have read several mixed reviews of this restaurant and I'm always a bit surprised - perhaps we've just lucked out the four time we've been there. We have gone for a romantic evening for two (the subtle but pervasive theming of the Wilderness Lodge is just wonderful!) and for a family dinner for four. My brother-in-law has cheesburger-only-type kids and they were disappointed in the restaurant. Our children have a palate that's a bit more adventurous and they both enjoyed their meals. The staff was friendly and welcoming to the children and had an extensive knowledge of the menu & wine list, as well as an eagerness to please. We've never been disappointed in our meals (or cocktails), but I must confess we LOVE the desserts. DH raves about the Capuccino Creme Brulee and DS (7) loves the Mickey dessert puzzle. DS (9) and I always split the berry cobbler (fight over it is a more apt description).
Good lord, this thing is awful. Rough, stupid, not fun. I think that it's the only "attraction" in history that I've actually laughed at and made fun of while on it. It's that bad.
This ride was fantastic, so, of course, it didn't last. It's sad that rides like this get replaced after only a few years, and rides like Body Wars stay open.
It doesn't get any better than the Beach Club. It is paradise on earth and has anything you could ever need or want on vacation!
Once you've slept in a Heavenly Bed, it's hard to go back. The Swan is great!!
Dolphin is a nice place to stay. Great soft bed with a large room and nice view. I think it is better for adults than kids since its easier to get to Epcot by walking and the boats can take a little longer. Not exactly a "Disney" feel but close. Not sure about the bus service to other parks since we spent most of our time at Epcot/Studios. If I wanted to stay in the Epcot/Studios/Boardwalk area, Dolphin is a good choice.
I have the music on CD and every time I listen to it I am tempted to go online and buy tickets to the park for another visit. I swear, there is something magical about the music. The parade is wonderful. My 51 year old father would like nothing more to be a character in the parade, he loves it so much. I hope it will be around long enough for my kids to see it.
I absolutely loves the Dolphin hotel! I went in with low expectations because of the lack of Disney-eqse, but it totally reconciles itself with the incredible views and convenience to the Boardwalk and Epcot. My only complaint is that I did not like that our only options to get to MGM or Epcot was boat or walk. The bus waits were also extraordinarily long (30 mins+) for the ride to AK, MK, or Downtown Disney. I highly reccomend staying at the Dolphin!
We just returned from a 4-night stay at Port Orleans Riverside this last December. This Resort is the best of the moderates. The themeing is excellent. Food Court and Gift shop are first class. We had a mansion room and were quite pleased. The rooms did show a few signs of wear and tear, but that is expected with all the guests that pass through these rooms. Housekeeping during our stay here was the best I’ve seen in a long time from any of the Disney Resorts. Would I stay here again? Definitely!
I love Pooh! So I try to ride this everytime I go to MK. I love the Hunny Pot shaped ride vehicles, and the nightmarish heffalumps and woozles with their black light effects. And I love the bouncy hunny pot effect when Tigger comes into view. You get to see all your friends on an absolutely charming ride. But the Mr Toad fans have really been shafted...they could have found room for both Toad and Bear in the Magic Kingdom. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the expotition!
It took a bit of doin' for me to find this place, but it was worth it. First the setting, along the river, under lovely shade trees in a picnic area is really, really nice. I found the atmosphere one of the best at WDW for having a bit of lunch. Second, as a Southerner, let me say, the barbecue is not bad at all, considering it does have to be tempered to the tastes of a wide variety of people. It was very mild and a little sweet. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I even liked their slaw (which is the acid test). Next time I'm at AK, I'm eating here! It's delightful!
What could be better than a ride you can play along with! You have to remember that this replaced that Delta ride. What an improvement! It's just so addicting, you can ride it all day. By the way, here's big scoreing some tips for everybody: 1. Hit the volcano 2. Hit the rotating thing on the top of the transition between one of the rooms (right next to you on the TTA) 3. In the projecter room, focus on ONE of the two sensors on the wall, you'll be more accurate if you keep steady on one instead of switching back and forth every few seconds.
I rode a late night bus from Pleasure Island and was unfortunate enough to be near a group of drunks. One kept falling into a group of young girls sitting nearby. A cursing match broke out but the driver did NOTHING. I kept waiting for him to step in but no. Finally I did-needless to say, not pleasant for family vacationers. After this near brawl the driver STILL ignored us. That being said, if your bussing to MK it beats parking, tramming, and wating around the TTC.
I enjoyed the new version of the Enchanted Tiki Birds. It was a lot of fun and puts a fresh new look on an old attraction that was getting to be a little dated. The part where the Tiki gods make their presence felt might be a little too intense for youngsters, tho. But on the whole, this was fun!
The food was good and the decor was interesting, but truthfully, The Pepper Market is just a gussied-up, more expensive version of the food courts at the All-Stars. You visit a number of stations and order what you want to eat, they stamp your card, and give you your food. You take it to your table and eat, then you pay on your way out. Ostensibly, there is a server who shows you to your table and gets you your drink. More often than not, I ended up getting my drink and refills myself. For this "service" you pay a ten percent surcharge. Who needs the added expense? The servers and the people who dish up the food were always nice. The cashier who rang up my meal was more interested in studying Chinese on flash cards than doing his job. The food was okay, and the menu has a lot of variety. But they could dispense with the fiction of having servers and let us pick our own table and get our own drinks and save guests a little money.
