This wasn't too bad of a celebration. The theme of celebrating 100 years of Disney memories was a nice idea and the entertainment and attraction were also wonderful. The much-hyped "Discover the Stories" kiosks were OK, but maybe a little too overhyped by Disney to call them not-to-be-missed attractions. Still not fond of the hat, but I guess I have to admit it is pretty at night.
As a professional fat bloke, this is simply the most fun Ive ever had at Epcot. Over the course of several visits I think I tried most things from the stands some excellent some ehhhhhh an aquired taste. However it was generally good fun. I didnt sample too much wine, not really my cup of tea, but I did my bit to stop the beer going off. And there was plenty to choose from including a rather nice Oktober ale from Germany. Also the chance of something free in Disney was too good to pass so visit the Adams brewery talk informative entertaining and a good free sample.
We realy enjoyed this event. The themeing was excellent and the fireworks and parades were very well done. We went on Halloween and yes it was quite busy but the lines were bareable. The haunted Mansion looked more spooky than ever and the lighting effects on the dry ice were stunning especially when viewed from the riverboat. The opertunity to trick or treat should not be missed but be prepared to deal with pushy parents!! One tip if you collect the pins dont hang around cause there wont be any left by the end of halloween. And watch out for that headless horseman.
I really liked MVMCP. I would have liked it more had I not gotten up at 4:40 am to get to WDW and known it was going to be VERY crowded. I heard rumors that it wasn't,but I guess some nights are more crowded than others. Tips to enjoy yourself: Don't overdo it during the day. Sleep in so you can stay up late Don't expect to walk on rides. It was extemely crowded! Don't get too excited about the milk and cookies. Enjoy the atmosphere. Though my first MVMCP wasn't the greatest, I think my past experience will help to make the next one a lot better.
I rescheduled my family's first trip to WDW from early to mid October so that we could attend MNSSHP one night and I'm sure glad I did. We enjoyed it so much, we bought tickets to go again three nights later and it was worth every penny!!! The best part of this event is the low crowd level. This equates to virtually no lines. My daughter is five and was thrilled to ride every ride in Fantasyland multiple times without ever having to wait in line. At the end of the evening she rode Peter Pan's Flight 3 times in a row!!! Even Buzz Lightyear barely had a waiting line. What line existed was so short that it never stopped moving. Everything in the park was just a little more magical. They had fun decorations, they added a little to the fireworks, I still find myself humming some of the parade music and the Characters were in high supply. Although it was sometimes difficult to distinguish between the CM's and the guests! For example, two (adult male) guests who were dressed up as Cinderella's stepsisters had fun role playing with my daughter who was dressed as Cinderella. We will definitely plan our next trip to include this event!!!
This is the best event I love. I like the parade & the snow flurries because I love snow. I could go there because I love it & I like Christmas events.
We did this several years ago and probably won't do it again any time soon ---not saying never---but not soon. It was advertised as limited attendence and they limited it to 16 bazillion. Way to congested for me. 15 deep for the parade, couldn't get near cookies and hot choc, didn't see any of the shows because they were to full. The MK is always the best even under these circumstances but I would't pay extra for it.By the way we did this around the 7th of Dec. when it normally not busy.
This is an event I look forward to all year. I go to Walt Disney World at different times but I love going to this event. Not as many people go to this event and if you wait till the end there is nearly no one there. If you smart you go around and look for rides and you hope you find a short picture line, and hot chocolate line. If you have the time to go to this event it is awesome and I recomend getting in the area early and then go to planet hollywood, or some other things in downtown disney
If you like to eat you will love this event. Bring lots of money and try a little of everything. The food booths are all over and the food is great but it can get a little expensive.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE this event. I just thing that it has gotten a little crowded. A lot of people come to see the parade so the attractions are not as bad as they could be. The picture locations are always packed. "free" cookies and hot choc. Ride rides during the first parade then see the late parade. the crowds get smaller (a lot smaller) as the night goes on but most people watch the first parade. If you have never been, go! It is fun.
We have always had tremendous success at E Nights. We often get off a ride and get right back on. It allows us to get a lot of rides and attractions done so that we can concentrate on other things during the day at the MK. If they offer an E-night while we are there we generally buy tickets. It is a good value and the park is much less croweded that during the day.
This event is fun. Snow on main street and free cocoa. best of all the most popular attractions are open
When planning when to go to Disney World, the 4 times i have been i had always thought it would be neat to go, but it never meant that much to me...i recently went for my very sweet 16 (5/20-5/25 2002)and it was PURE magic!!!!! it is absoultly undescribale!!
The 100 years of magic makes Disney even more magical!!! Make sure to plan your trip before 100y.of m. runs out!! it is something NOT to be missed!! Make sure to see and do all the extra special stuff relating to Walt's 100th Birthday( he was actually born on Dec.5 1901)
It really is a nice event. It makes for a good time at Epcot. Plus, it really gets you in the mood for summer!
The X-Mas Party at the Magic Kingdom is great. The park looks great all lit up. The special parade and shows are great. If you can you must attend.
Just wish it could be a couple of hours longer. But you can still get in all the rides. Great Themeing with all the decorations, lights, costumes, etc. Fun for all.
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a fantastic experience for guests, especially families. For those not wishing to see the shows, I would recommend experiencing the Main Street attractions (snowing, hot chocolate) and then I would head to the e-rides (Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, etc.) because the lines on these rides are pretty much non existant. This is a must-do for anybody visiting during the Holiday Season, especially families.
Out of the four times we have done E-Ride nights, three have been awesome. It all depends on what season you are going and how many tickets are sold. On our last E-Ride the first week of August 2002, it was PACKED. Lines for Space Mountain were 30 minutes which isn't bad for a normal operating day, but pretty long for the usual E-Ride nights. But in the end it's only $15.00 and usually you can get on all the rides a couple times each in the time given.
The many additions for the 100 Year Celebration are great! There are all little touches around the various parks, with MGM holding the most. The tour of Walt Disney's life is BEYOND INCREDIBLE and needs to be experienced multiple times. Also the parades at the various parks are AWESOME and evne though simple in design, they are really all FUN!
We have visited Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival six times since 1990. It's our favorite time to visit.
GREAT FOR SMALL KIDS, BUT WAS WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY
AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS FOR KIDS BUT BY THE END OF THE NIGHT EVERY ONE WAS A KID.IF YOU GO BE SURE TO DRESS IN COSTUME
THE FOOD SAMPLING IS A MORE THAN ONE DAY QUEST. SO MUCH GOOD FOOD AND SO LITTLE TIME TO TRY EVERYTHING. SAME GOES FOR THE WINE. DID NOT REALIZE THERE WERE SO MANY GOOD WINES! RELAX AND ENJOY.
BEAUTIFUL WEATHER,FLOWER EXHIBITS BUT THE TOPIARY WAS THE BEST
THE ONLY WAY TO DO MK. NO WAITING - NO HASSLES-TIME WELL SPENT ENJOYING THE MOST POPULAR RIDES !!!!!!!
WALT DISNEY: ONE MANS DREAM AT MGM WAS A GOOD HISTORY LESSON ABOUT WALT'S LIFE. THE REST OF THE CELEBRATION WAS MORE HYPE THAN SUBSTANCE, BUT I DID ENJOY IT IN A QUIET SORT OF WAY
Say what you will about the price or cheap cookies. I will probably never be at WDW on Christmas day itself, but seeing the official Christmas parade is something all big WDW fans should do at least once. This is your opportunity. When I went with my wife, we had a great time. The atmoshere was pure holiday magic. I was very impressed with the shows at the front of the castle and the amount of characters available for photos. We had the cookies and hot chocolate and also received a free Chritmas photo. These things were no big deal, but perhaps I did not have high expectations of these perks. Mostly I went for the parade and the chance to hang out in the MK late at night. It ended up being a special holiday night that we remember more distinctly than our other visits there.
MVMCP was great way back in the day...like in the 90's. Now there are too many tickets sold, the cookies are of the cheapie grocery store variety and I won't even START about the hot chocolate! (Here's a hint - the lumps might not be just cocoa powder! )
A great festival. The music is great. The flower displays are great too.
This was one of the better celebrations what WDW has had. I don't believe that it was better than the millennium celebration, but still vey good. I really enjoyed the Walt Disney:One man's dream exhibit in Disney-MGM Studios. It really introduced to the world what Walt Disney had done in his life. They really did a good job with showing how incredible of a man Walt Disney was. The icon for this celebtaion, and the new icon for Disney-MGM Studios was beautiful. It really brings some magic to Hollywood Blvd. It also looks just stunning at night, although it was always hard to get a good picture of it. The four new parades were all very good, some better than others. I also really enjoyed all of the new light up banners around the parks, they really add some magic to the parks at night when they're blinking like crazy. The new Magical Moments pins were very fun to have in the parks. They were a little expensive, but they are worth the money. Its fun to watch them light up in the attractions and during the shows. Well overall this was a very good celebration. I really learned a lot about Walt Disney and what an incredible man he was. An EXELLENT celebration!!
Sigh, as much as I want to give this event a positive review, I can't. Night of Joy was anything but that. What could've been a relaxing night listening to contemporary christian acts, turned into a night of "avoid the teenagers getting into a fight." After speaking to several chaperones, I came to the realization that NoJ is nothing more than an excuse for local area parents to unload rowdy children in a "supervised" event under the pretenses of Spiritual Enlightenment. The ones who need to be enlightened are the parents. On every single attraction, teenagers were cutting in line, cursing, and doing god-knows-what. Several times CM's removed the kids from the lines, only to have them replaced with a worse kid. I quickly left to city hall and demanded a refund (a first for me!) As much as I love Disney (and I do!), I do not suggest that anyone go to NoJ, and sadly have to put in a plug for Rock the Universe at Universal... at least there you know to expect the cursing.
This is one of the better celebrations in my opinion. It's about celebrating the man who made WDW possible. If he hadn't done what he did, we wouldn't be talking here today, as there would be no WDW. Very good! Highly reccomended!
This is quite possibly the best time to be at Epcot. Food and Wine from all over the world (even more than usual) all within the same 1+ mile stretch of land. This is the ONLY time I go to Epcot as a guest anymore... and I go with plenty of cash on hand, because I will use it all.
This is the most popular special event at MK. When else can you go to the Magic Kingdom, and see snow, Santa Claus, and Donald trying to sell you an X-Mas tree? This is recommended for everyone. The christmas parade, although you can see it on ABC, and every day at MK after the party ends, is different at night... better even. This, along with the special shows in the castle, make for an enjoyable night for everyone. Also, stop by select locations for free cookies and hot-chocolate
This is hands down, the best event held at MK- period. From the second you walk in to the MK, you realize something is different. There is magic in the air, but not the Magic you get accustomed to at 11am on Main Street. Something is different... maybe its the fact that you are looking at Tigger dressed like a skeleton, or the fact that there are gypsies wandering in Fantasyland. This event is arguably the most popular Disney event w/ the locals, because it provides special Halloween party only entertainment (sorry, XMas party, but I can see that parade on ABC year after year). You can take your kids trick or treating in a safe environment, and have them meet the characters in their halloween costumes. You can see the Halloween parade, and see a witch fly from the castle, before the perimeter fireworks. And you can even do the attractions you love to do. For less than $30 per person, this is the best deal for the MK
What can I say? This is not a real celebration. Historically, Disney celebrations, have had new parades, and merchandise, but also real drawing power. What does this celebration have? A hat. I have tried to enjoy this, I really have. But without any new major attractions, and WDW in shambles, this celebration should have never happened. The only new attractions aren't even E-Tickets (not one is... 1 spinner, 5 shows, and 1 display, plus 3 new parades, and 1 rehabbed parade... not celebration material). I would compare this to any regular year at WDW, but not a celebration.
There are so many things to see and do. You can check out the demos each day. It's done by professional chefs from all over the country and samples are given to guests after each show. You can also check out one of the many dinners available. Each dinner is different and offers many chef specialities. If you're not interested in the dinners make sure you check out the booths located all around world showcase. Each booth offers 3-4 items ranging from $1-$5 per dish. Make sure you go with an empty stomach or a group of friends that way you can sample all the booths around the park. I've tried it many times and I could only get as far as Italy each time (starting in Mexico). Wine shops and seminars are also available for those novices and connoisseurs out there.
If you ever get a chance to do this, by all means DO it. Imagine 9 rides all to yourself, no wait, no lines, no crowds...just all yours! Consider the time saved by not having to spend 5 hours (assuming 1/2+hr per attraction) standing in line or having to deal with fastpasses. Just walk on and walk off. My family got our own log on Splash Mountain. All you need to do is spend $12 more if you're on resort and have park hopper passes. Make sure to call WDW for details, they'll fill you in for sure. Another plus to this is if you're family is split between riders and nonriders, the family can enjoy the park during the day and spend time together. And then when night comes around the family can split and the riders can ride that attractions all night long! IT'S WELL WORTH IT!!!
E ride nights can be a lot of fun. It gives you a special feeling to be able to stay in the park after closing. The one problem I have had with e ride nights in the past is the Magic Kingdom, in my opinion, takes on a more pleasure island type feel to it. There were quite a few very loud groups of teenagers and college aged people. Also the non smoking policy seems to be given a back seat during e ticket nights. I would not recommend families with very young children attend.
