The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for much of Central Florida, which includes the Walt Disney World theme park areas.
The watch was issued at 8:45 am, and is in effect until 3 pm October 12, 2023.
A weather watch is a precautionary alert that advises of the potential for hazardous weather conditions, while a weather warning is a more urgent notification that dangerous weather is imminent or already happening.
The latest forecast says there will be numerous showers and lightning storms spreading into Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Brevard counties this afternoon. The primary storm hazards will be damaging wind gusts 50 to 60 mph, repeated rounds of heavy rainfall leading to localized flooding and frequent lightning strikes. There will continue to be a tornado threat across northern sections this morning but decrease into the afternoon.
