Disney has announced that Tiana's Palace, a new quick-service restaurant in Disneyland replacing the former French Market Restaurant, will open on September 7, 2023.

Inside Tiana's Palace, you will be surrounded by the colors of Mardi Gras as you sit at yellow tabletops, on warm vanilla-colored chairs with green seats, in the shade of yellow and green umbrellas.

Below the lit marquee that reads "Tiana's Palace," hanging above a metallic gold balcony, is an emerald green wrought iron railing and awnings dyed in yellow and green, reminiscent of Tiana's formal ball gown.

Guests can expect a menu capturing the essence of New Orleans, with some ingredients sourced from Louisiana, and the convenience of mobile ordering through the Disneyland app. The opening will also mark the return of the Mint Julep Bar.

Again, maybe I just got lucky in the past but it was never this bad in the French Market days in my experiences.

There is usually 2 or 3 CMs stationed at the front checking for mobile orders or food. Then there's one more holding a mobile order sign, basically advertising it. That's additional staffing that DL food/bev would have to take on I'd imagine if they would do a similar approach. Plus on my DL visit last November, I don't recall a single instance where a CM was actively standing at the front of any quick service advertising mobile ordering. Guess it's just a WDW thing since they have that to a tee at this point, imo.

It was a problem back in the French Market days. I haven’t even eaten at Tiana’s yet, but I suspect the issue has gotten even worse. This sounds heavenly.

We ate there shortly after it reopened and we thought both the interior and exterior were an upgrade over French Market, we also found the menu far more exciting… unfortunately both our dishes were just bad, I had the shrimp and grits and found it flavorless and my Gf had the gumbo and it was so peppery we couldn’t finish it. We used to get the gumbo and the jambalaya at the Jazz kitchen express all the time so we’re not exactly food snobs but we found the food at Tiana’s palace horrible in comparison. We haven’t given it another chance since then. I miss having a good gumbo or jambalaya option on property so we may have to give them another chance just to see if we visited on a bad day.

honestly that’s some of the best food I’ve ever had at a theme park. I used to go over to DAK just to eat there and see the bird show!

WDW was enforcing it today at Satu’li Canteen at Animal Kingdom. They don’t let you in the seating area unless you have food in your hand or waiting on a mobile order. Ate there today and was in and out real quick. Fantastic unique food too. DL seems so behind with their food efficiencies. We also waited an additional ~20 mins for our food at Tiana’s Palace, and we mobile ordered ahead. Even the beignets, the pickup was also delayed after the return window. This was back in November of last year.

I’ve seen them enforce it at WDW. Maybe I just got lucky in the past but I’ve never seen it this bad at DL.

This has been an issue for years. I wonder if Disney is unaware, or if they think it’s unenforceable.

I made sure to have lunch here a few weeks ago. A couple of thoughts - Nice job on the new decor - it feels like historic Disneyland with a tasteful touch of IP. Name - is this the airport / theme park franchise location or was Tiana’s dream to open a cafeteria? Efficiencies - I thought they’d fix the inefficient mess of pushing your tray along and waiting for other guests to have food made. They didn’t. I had my gumbo plated and ready to go but the family in front ordered multiple made to order sandwiches with only 1 CM making them one at a time. Drinks - they took mint juleps off the menu :( But I did try the Joffrey’s hickory coffee cold brew and it was good. Food - the menu is an improvement over the most recent French Market menu, but not nearly as good as the French market of days gone by. I had the vegetarian gumbo - it tasted like it may have been a little burnt? Not sure. I’d give it another try to see if it was that batch or sometimes a little more fresh. Seating - they really should limit seating to those with food. So many people taking up tables without any food - which is fine if there are lots of empty tables but there weren’t. I ended up eating on a trash can by rivers of America… which is the full Disney parks culinary experience! Haha
