At the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro announced that Disneyland's highly anticipated Tiana's Bayou Adventure will officially open on November 15, 2024. Inspired by Disney's "The Princess and the Frog," the attraction will debut as part of the newly renamed Bayou Country, formerly Critter Country.

Bayou Country, which sits adjacent to New Orleans Square, will feature Tiana's Bayou Adventure as its centerpiece, offering guests a vibrant environment filled with nods to the film and the Louisiana bayou. The area will immerse visitors in the charm and music of the region, surrounded by shady trees and a lively atmosphere.

In addition to the new attraction, Bayou Country will also be home to familiar favorites like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes. The area will see the reopening of the Hungry Bear Restaurant, newly reimagined as the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, which promises to offer scenic dining along the riverside.

Merchandise locations in Bayou Country will include Ray's Berets and Louis' Critter Club, where guests can find themed items inspired by the bayou and its inhabitants. Pooh Corner will continue to offer sweet treats for those exploring the new land.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure opened earlier this year at Walt Disney World, and the Disneyland version is set to bring a similar experience to the West Coast.

People don't know how to film a dark ride. It's amazing how youtube will return the latest videos even if you want something from 15 years ago.

This looks 2D to me but hard to tell given the angle. Guess I do not remember this at all.

No charm allowed.

It was originally a 3d animation that looked terrible.

Was this changed on the mermaid ride? I remember it only being 2D.

Yes, it was. I looked for it when I rode.

Does anyone know the exact spot in the queue that used to look down at the final Brer Rabbit animatronic. It was definitely filled in, right?

I wonder if Disney will change the on-screen Tiana and Louis to 2d like they ended up doing for Mermaid.

So much potential for a new build if they had done one. A better story with the aesthetic of the HDYD scene’s dark bayou for the whole ride would have been awesome. I wish they did something better with the Laughing Place, it just feels like they had to add the shrinking section to fit the existing rockwork (in side-by-sides it’s obvious they didn’t even alter any of the roots).

Lol. The crap story/ dialogue part would be disappointing no matter what but still think I’d be pleased with the other features I mentioned. It’s certainly more fun than Webslingers and MMRR. The infrastructure, scope/ scale and ride time is very much not 2020’s Disney and that would be appreciated.

Yes, but presumably a new build also wouldn't be constrained by the pace and size of Splash's infrastructure and not have a 50ft drop just because it's already there.

If it was a brand new build but still had the same pre-school level story, bland repetitiveness and still shoved most of the cast of PatF aside in favor of a bunch of sappy-looking generic animals, I would be just as disappointed as I am now. In fact, I’d be more disappointed because that would mean they started with a blank slate and STILL couldn’t do better than “Can you spot the animal musicians? WHEEEEE, you’re all special!!!”
