Canada has announced that it has extended non-essential travel restrictions with the United States until at least November 21 2020.
Canada is a key international market for Florida and Walt Disney World, with Canadians making up 25% of international visitors to Florida in 2019. The travel ban extension will continue to impact Walt Disney World's recovery from the COVID-19 shutdown and subsequent reopening that began in July 2020.
Combined with U.S. restrictions on entry to the country for Europeans, Walt Disney World has very little opportunity to see any international visitors through the remainder of the year.
The United States is seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases, with 70,000 new cases recorded on Friday, the highest number of new cases seen in one day since July.
