Air quality at Walt Disney World is below normal levels today as Central Florida is feeling impacts from wildfires in Canada.
Florida Department of Environmental Protection is currently reporting a U.S. Air Quality Index of 117 (unhealthy for sensitive groups) for Walt Disney World, with PM2.5 particles as the primary pollutant. This is a marked change from the usual AQI of around 20.
Much of Florida is classified as "unhealthy," with AQI levels above 150.
PM2.5 particles are fine airborne particles with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers or smaller, and pose health risks when inhaled due to their ability to penetrate deep into the respiratory system.
Experts suggest sensitive groups remaining indoors in an area with filtered air, reducing activity levels, and wearing N95 masks if outdoors for an extended period of time.
The forecast suggests that unhealthy air quality conditions will continue today and tomorrow. Normal air quality should return on Thursday.
