Guests visiting the Walt Disney World theme parks are being urged to prepare for the possibility of severe storms later today as lightning storms are set to increase in coverage throughout the day.
According to the latest weather forecast from the National Weather Service in Melbourne, FL, the most severe conditions are expected during the evening and overnight, October 11, 2023.
These storms have the potential to become strong to severe, with wind gusts reaching up to 50 mph and isolated damaging gusts up to 60 mph. Additionally, there will be frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and heavy downpours. There is also a risk of a few tornadoes, especially in Lake County during the overnight period.
Heavy showers are expected to result in widespread rainfall ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 inches, with some areas possibly receiving up to 5 inches of rain. The highest rainfall amounts are anticipated in Lake, Volusia, and parts of Orange and Seminole counties.
