UPDATE 2:42pm ET: Some readers have reported this afternoon that FP+ selections have returned, and then subsequently disappeared.
Numerous guests with upcoming reservations in July at Walt Disney World during the reopening period are today reporting that their FastPass+ reservations have been removed from My Disney Experience.
The removal of the FastPass+ selections may suggest that Disney is intending to open the theme parks in mid-July without FastPass+. This would not be entirely unexpected, as we already know that entry to the capacity limited parks will require a reservation, and so there is no guarantee that a guest with a FastPass+ selection could even enter the park to use it.
Disney also has the capability to deploy Virtual Queues, as we have already seen used at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Adopting a more widespread use of such queues would allows guests who make it into the park to secure a spot in a socially distanced manner.
Disney has made it very clear that it will take a slow, steady, phased approach to the reopening, and a simplified experience with no FastPass+ and Virtual Queues where necessary would certainly make sense.
A standby-only park experience and a return to simpler times that are less driven by planning every detail might just be what everyone needs right now. Let us know your thoughts.
