Here is a latest look at the construction progress on The Cake Bake Shop on Disney's BoardWalk.

We still don't have an opening date, the current progress looks like we won't see it open until at least the winter. The Cake Bake shop was originally planned to open in 2023, and has progressed very slowly. However, the restaurant did begin its hiring process in March 2024.

Describing the new Boardwalk eatery, Disney says, "The Cake Bake Shop will bring exquisite dining, delicious Afternoon Tea, delectable desserts, marvelous champagne and fanciful cocktails for an extraordinary and whimsical experience."

Universal owns that particular location of Pat O’s. Not a third party

Sunset Walk wouldn't be a bad spot - although I just remembered The Wharf does dueling pianos there too on Fridays. I doubt it's replacing The Wharf b/c they book other live music, tribute acts, etc. It may not survive - but I'd like to see something cool finally go in the theatre in dowtown Celebration.

Scott says Disney, including DS and swandolph is out. Any rumors about Pat Obriens? Leaving? Pats and Jellyrolls both in citywalk? Sunset Walk works.

Disappointing. Jellyrolls was always a blast and added some needed life to that end of the boardwalk, especially with the relatively quiet Dance Hall. Hard to imagine anything replacing it being as fun.

Here's a new update on Jellyrolls:

I think the Boardwalk needs more activity based things. I think adding a jazz or comedy like club would be interesting or even something new like a hibachi sit down

We ate dinner in the Cake Bake restaurant on Monday. I have to say, it is beautifully decorated, with finishes that are extremely ornate. The Christmas decor is perfect for the establishment. I had the chicken and sausage paella - I highly recommend this. My wife had the chicken salad croissant sandwich - also very good. Still can’t figure out why it seemed to take the better part of a decade to build it (that’s even cutting slack for the pandemic). And it is pricy, so I don’t know how often we will eat here. It was not full, although the bar was (apparently people never concern themselves over the price of alcohol lol). My wife and I don’t drink alcohol, so our two meals plus a concrete brick-sized slice of $22 cake came out to $83 before tip. Our meal at Narcoossee’s the day before was around $112 before tip. Of course, at Narcoossee’s we both had the filet (we did not get dessert). To me, that makes the Cake Bake locale far pricier than Narcoossee’s for what you are getting. Now, to be fair, we did return on Tuesday and bought some delicious ice cream and bought some chocolate cookies to take home (that our kids loved). That part of the establishment was very full. All the pastries, cookies and cakes are on full mouth watering display. They also have lots of gifts you can purchase there. They had these hand made ballerina dolls you could buy…for $75 😳. In the end, I doubt I would tell people to eat here for a meal as it is expensive - and that is me saying this, as Disney is a price I still don’t mind paying as my wife and I love vacationing here despite the cost. However, I would tell people to definitely go for some treats at the shop. They are decadent and a wee bit more worthy of the cost.

For $70 you get $100 gift card good at Planet Hollywood and Jaleo. COSTCO warehouse sell gift cards to local restaurants. Some are chains but some are local restaurants. Edited to add Don't confuse the poster with facts.

Are you not familiar with Costco? https://www.costco.com/restaurant-gift-cards.html

COSTCO has been one of CBS partners for years. COSTCO.COM sells 3 of her cakes, $160 each for an.8" cake. COSTCOs near her existing stores have been selling gift cards. This is not a "fire sale". It's part of her successful marketing program.
