Disney has filed two significant permits this week, signaling the beginning of building one of the actual rides inside the huge warehouse-like structures currently under construction.
Both permits identify the location as 384 Cypress Drive Project D - 1004W, which we believe is the Battle Escape attraction.
The building for this ride was the first to get underway, and is the nearest to completion, which would make sense as its completion would be needed prior to installing the ride system.
The permit identifies key partners as The White-Turner Contracting Company, which frequently takes part in large WDI projects, along with Cuningham+Morris architects, Walter P. Moore and Associates structural design, EXP US Services electrical design, Southland Industries mechanical design, Tri-City Electrical, Steel Fabricators structural steel, Bernhard MCC Mechnical Trade, T.B. Penick & Sons concrete, Keen, Hopkins, Suder and Stowell Contractors framing and themed Plaster Concrete.
A second permit filed today, is for Project D - Exterior Architectural Ornamentation and Scenic Elements, with The Nassal Company. Which means we should soon begin to see some of the exterior theming details taking shape.
The Nassal Company has previously worked with competitors Universal, where it fabricated and installed all of the scenic sets for The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman at Islands of Adventure, and its faux rockwork, themed retail, and interior queue themeing at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Notably, both permits expire on September 26 2019, which would suggest a late 2019 opening for the land at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Star Wars A Galaxy's Edge is expected to open in Disneyland around 6 months earlier.
