UPDATE 9:00pm. The closures reported below were temporary in nature due to a localized storm and were not part of any large scale shutdown for Hurricane Ian. All transportation resumed this evening.
PREVIOUSLY:
With the effects of Hurricane Ian expected to be felt late Tuesday, Walt Disney World is already moving to secure some of the more vulnerable locations.
The Disney Skyliner transportation system is now closed. The gondola system is obviously very sensitive to severe weather, and the gondolas need to be secured to ride out the storm. Guests are being offered alternative transportation via bus.
Complimentary bus service will be temporarily available in front of EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and between the following Resort hotels: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Resort, Disney's Pop Century Resort, Disney's Riviera Resort, and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.
Also closed are the Disney Friendship boats that serve EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios and the EPCOT area hotels.
Disney announced earlier the closure of select Walt Disney World hotels and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park.
We expect more operational impacts over the coming days as the storm's severity becomes clearer.
