Monorail Black to get Star Wars promo window decoration

Keep an eye on the monorail beam this week for the Star Wars monorail.

Monorail Black is now decked-out with window decals to promote the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie.

Unlike the TRONorail or the Iron Man promos which features full wraps, the Star Wars overlay makes use of only the window areas similar to the Monsters University promotion on Monorail Teal in 2013.

I'm more of a fan of this than previous monorail wraps. It keeps the current paint job's character intact instead of covering the whole thing.

To my knowledge, yes, but as far as I know this was not done. Coral for example, before the TRON wrap it had a terrible pain job with the Coral stripe very sloppy and different shades in places. When the TRON wrap came off, only the roof and cabs were repainted (since they were painted that dark blue to match wrap). I was disappointed to see the rest of the train was not repainted. I haven't seen Red or Black in person since their wraps came off, but I'm willing to bet the same is true on those trains.

Didn't previous wraps require that the monorail be repainted once the wrap came off? Maybe they just went with window decals this time so they could avoid doing any repainting. Either way, it's not as horrible or disruptive as the full-body wraps. Although by the looks of it, Monorail Black could really use a repaint.

Looks terrible and cheap, just like all the other monorail overlays. The monorail is an icon of WDW. No need to mess with it.

I think this was exactly the idea that the designer had, the monorail is passing through the desert scene and its reflected in the windows, so in some respects it probably works perfectly if that's what you are picking up on.

Such a shame that so many Walt Disney World fans don't really like themed entertainment and insist that the medium must kowtow to film.

I am really excited to see it; it'll be my son's first real movie "event" and I love the heck out of Star Wars so I was an easy sell. I do share the concern that nothing could ever possibly live to the hype though. I think people will always chase their first Star Wars high and there are some things about youth and/or your first introduction to the franchise that you just can't ever replicate. I am especially concerned, having just marathoned what feels like a galatic eternity's worth of Star Wars movies and cartoons in the past few weeks that...I don't know that I really NEED to be told any more about these people. The saga is so detailed and long, I mean, they have visited and revisited so many things already. The longer it goes on the higher the chances of it being a rehash, or just completely veering off into being Just Another SciFi Movie, increase dramatically. I hope their writing team can pull it off and make it feel old but somehow new again. That's a tall order when you have staggering amounts of existing of content to follow that people Feel a Lot Of Important Feelings About.

Actually, the constant advertisement is not the part that annoys me. I LOVE that. I love it anytime a commercial comes on television for the film. I enjoy seeing all the merch. on store aisles. All of that is great. But what does ruin it some is the over-hyped box-office predictions being constantly thrown at us by Disney & others. "This is going to be the highest-grossing bestest movie in the history of ever!" Really? And we know this how? Back to the football reference in my last post. Wouldn't it annoy the living hell outta most of us if a team, every week, went on record saying: "We ARE going to win the Super Bowl this season! We are the absolute best, and nobody can stop us. No way, no how." I'm not saying confidence is bad...but sometimes it can go overboard. We can all agree that this will be a highly successful movie, as to be expected from the Star Wars name. If it does wind up being the #1 movie of all-time, well that's great too. But that bold prediction needs to stop being shoved at us every week. It kinda takes the fun out of it all. Just my opinion, of course.

... Exactly, I'm excited for the new film, and I have my tickets ready and waiting. The constant in your face advertisement is really annoying, and I sadly expect to be let down because of all the unnecessary hype.

The over-hype is really getting old for me, and I've grown up loving Star Wars. Not saying I'm not excited for the new film, because I certainly am. It's just that Disney, along with every-other article or fan blogger constantly yammering about how this "WILL" be the most successful movie of all time, etc. has begun to get a little monotonous. I could care less if this ends up being the most successful movie of all-time or not. I'm going to enjoy it for me. This whole predicting a Super Bowl championship every week ordeal before the season even starts is really starting to get annoying. Disney needs to put the crystal ball down, just enjoy the spoils (it will be a huge success, despite how it ranks on the all-time list), and keep the legacy of Star Wars films going strong for future generations to enjoy.

If you have the mindset that this movie is over-hyped and can be nowhere near as good as some imaginary people are making it out to be, you are most likely not going to enjoy the movie. If you mindset that this is going to be the greatest and most epic film of all time, you are most likely going to be disappointed as nothing can really reach those standards. If you go into the movie with an open mind and look forward to seeing another great Star Wars adventure, you most likely will not be disappointed and will go home extremely happy. Set and control your own expectations rather than letting someone or something set them for you.
