Active or retired members of the U.S. Military, including the National Guard, Reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) or their spouses may purchase specially priced 4 and 5 day Walt Disney World theme park tickets.

2018 pricing is around $20 over 2017 pricing.

Tickets are valid January 1 2018 – December 19 2018. Purchase By December 15 2018 for the Disney 5-Day Military Promotional Ticket and December 16 2018 for the Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Ticket.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I did not want to create a whole new one. There has been an update to the promotion. This allows DOD Civilians and DOD Contractors with a valid CAC to purchase the tickets. This is only a test as of now and will run from now till 12/19/18. Department of Defense personnel can take advantage of the Walt Disney World® Resort Military Salute room and ticket offers now through Dec. 19, 2018 U.S. military personnel have special limited-time room and ticket offers through Dec. 19, 2018. U.S. Department of Defense civilians and retired DOD civilians and full-time contract personnel and technical representatives ("DOD groups") can take advantage of these offers through Dec. 19, 2018.

Correct if you at stationed in the US and have a Attached Forces ID Card you can buy US Military discounted tickets and stay at Shades of Green.

Its just a pity this doesn't extend to UK military like a lot of other discounts do in the US... Still a UK 14 or 21 day ticket are better value when we go for 2 or 3 weeks.

I knew some who, once receiving draft notices, ran to their nearest Air Force recruiter and tried to beat the reporting date... and liked it so much, they stayed for 20.

I knew quite a few who did chose to remain in and make a career out of the Army after being drafted.

Be thankfull your service was voluntary, many of us were subject to the military draft. That's not to say I regret serving. Honestly I'd do it again if called.

It's all voluntary, you makes your choice, you takes your chances. I only did 22 and am working on my next retirement and may well do another after that. Civilian life is a walk in the park in comparison.

I just feel like they have to make a distinction somewhere and it seems like a logical place to make it since that is where most companies make a distinction. You get the benefits throughout life if you spend a career there (20years) or you get the benefits for the time that you do serve if you choose to get out. You serve as a firefighter for 20 years you get a pension......you don't, you get paid for your time you are there and told thank you as you leave. I don't see the confusion or controversy here. It's quite the benefit whether it is for the time you serve or for life if you do your 20yrs. Thank you Disney as the benefit is above and beyond.
