In a new update from Walt Disney Imagineering today, we get a sneak peek of the interactive splash pad in the Island Tower addition at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.

Moana's Voyage Splash Pad is a playful water area that captures the spirit of adventure seen in Disney's Moana. Themed around the iconic journey of the fearless heroine, the splash area is centered around a figure of Moana and her famous outrigger canoe, surrounded by various water elements.

The new Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is set to open on December 17, 2024, and reservations are now open for all guests.

Pricing during the opening week for arrival on December 18, range from $826 per night for the Duo Studio with a Standard View to $5,016 per night for the 2 Bedroom Penthouse with a Theme Park View.  Note that discounts may be available for Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Florida Residents.

Honestly, I haven't seen it so I can't really comment on it, but it does mean the Poly goes from about 900 feet between a hotel wing and GF wing and shrink it to like 450 feet (and it's even more dramatic if you include the wedding pavilion). I have no idea if it visually makes them look connected, but the distance apart is cut in half.

It’s all subjective of course, but arguing that it isn’t intrusive is still a weird take.

It doesn't.

It is not visible for most of the monorail. From the Grand Flo to MK you can't see it until you're just coming to the MK station (I video taped this). From the poly you can only see it when you clear the last building. From MK you can see it in the distance until you start turning to poly. So it's visible for maybe 35%ish of the track (maybe 40)

Once the mold sets in it will be plenty dark plus they can dye it after install, Disney still knows how to do that

It also effectively destroys any separation between Poly and Grand Floridan. It looks more like a Vegas-style skyline where one just bleeds into the next.

It was extremely visible from Bay Lake Tower.... and most of the monorail line. From straight across the lake it looks even bigger than it is....

I disagree you can barely see it from the docks at MK and you can't see it from most of the monorail line.

Yes, but if you put a solid wall between it and you and then look at the wall, voila!, it’s not!

I know about both, and the in between options. Real stone has grout up front, lick-n’-stick fakes the “grout” up front (if there is any, which there usually isn’t), but it looks too thin to be real stone (at least the best I can tell from the pics), so, yes, it’s looks like the kind where the grout will be applied after, similar to tile. Either way, if it were my decision, I would have chosen a darker stone with a matching grout.

there's a lot of in-between veneer options between real stone pieces and lick-n-stick that will look good but are made for this type of application that I would wager they went forward with.... and they will grout it lol just be patient

Is that real stone, or is that the “lick-n’-stick” fake stone…I can’t tell from the picture, and there doesn’t appear to be any grout…?
