The National Weather Service in Melbourne, FL, has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook indicating potential impacts from Tropical Cyclone 4, which is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm as it moves toward Florida’s west coast this weekend.
The greatest concern for East Central Florida, including the Walt Disney World area, is heavy rainfall. Forecasts predict 2-4 inches of rain, with localized amounts of 4-6 inches possible, particularly north and west of the I-4 corridor. This could lead to flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
In addition to heavy rainfall, tropical storm force wind gusts are possible, arrving as soon as Saturday evening. There is also potential for a brief tornado, especially on Saturday/Sunday night. Visitors should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions and stay updated on the latest forecasts.
Alongside these storm-related threats, the region is also under a Heat Advisory today, with heat index values reaching up to 109 degrees. Guests should take necessary precautions to avoid heat stress.
Walt Disney World guests should monitor weather updates closely, as the storm’s track could bring further impacts to the area. So far, Disney has not announced any operational impacts to Walt Disney World theme parks or resorts.
