In the first face-to-face court hearing in the ongoing Disney vs. DeSantis/Central Florida Tourism Oversight District legal battle, a Florida Judge in a state court has listened to the arguments in the case brought by the CFTOD.
Disney argued that recent actions taken by the state have rendered the litigation irrelevant. Disney also says that Florida law mandates the state court to put the lawsuit on hold until the company's federal case against Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Tourism Oversight District is resolved.
After an hour of listening to both sides, Judge Margaret H. Schreiber of the Florida 9th Circuit Court took the matter under advisement, meaning more time is needed to deliberate and review the case thoroughly before a decision is returned. Both parties have until Wednesday, July 19, to submit their competing orders.
