In addition, the Disney Dining Plan Plus option includes two snacks per night, one Disney Resort hotel refillable drink mug (which can be used at any Disney Resort hotel quick-service location), and at each meal, unlimited refills of fountain sodas, single-service teas and brewed coffee, or one non-alcoholic specialty beverage, and for guests 21 and older with valid ID, one beer, wine or cocktail.

The reason I haven’t used it since it was hook pricing isn’t that i’m cheap...it’s that I crunch it every few years and I can never get it to work out in my favor...it actually is never close. So TIW is the way to go and will be again until they eventually kill that too.

I thought so...i’m Just not well versed in rack rate research as we have hammered around on this thread: there’s no need for them to restrict the dining plan anyway...it’s not giving anything away

Horizons '83Feb 28, 2020

Yep I acknowledged that in this thread. It’s just not a great value.

Both DVC and AP holders can add a dining plan. Basically if you book through Disney you can add a dining plan. If you have a room-only bookimg you can call and ask for a ticketless package, which allows you to add a dining plan. If you book through a TA you can add a dining plan. But booking through third party sites like Priceline, or using a special convention or group rate disqualifies you from adding a dining plan. Currently it seems those with a special AP rate cannot add the new one. Nor can anyone booking through the U.K. site, although it is showing up there so I think it might be available eventually.

You only get a desert, not an appetiser with the DDP and DDP+

Dr.GrantSeekerFeb 28, 2020

I've heard that APs can call and have it added. But cannot confirm as I haven't tried it. I'm a TIW guy.

SirwalterraleighFeb 28, 2020

It’s been DVC for along time...the second (and last) time I used it was Saratoga in 2007 Don’t know about aps

trainplane3Feb 28, 2020

It's been a while since we did a dining plan but we've been DVC since 98/99 but we had no problems using it along with being AP'ers for a slightly shorter time. We did see less value in them and got tired of wasting food so we no longer use a dining plan and just run with TIW instead.

ImperfectPixieFeb 28, 2020

I didn't think dining plans were available to AP holders or DVC?

SirwalterraleighFeb 28, 2020

Just curious...why do you want to?

Jon81ukFeb 28, 2020

You mean like a table service place? I don't think that's going to happen. It would work if you were paying for refills while you are eating in (like a table service) but I imagine length-of-stay would be harder to monitor. Also many people get a coffee or soda and take it back to their room or onwards to the park so many of the cups would never come back.

What they aren't telling you is if you are a season pass holder and have a room booked this new plan isn't even available to you. I tried to call and upgrade my regular Disney Dining plan to the The New Plus plan and they said I couldn't do it.

ThatMouseFeb 28, 2020

Ya the handles were dumb, but what I mean is, you don't want to take the cups to the parks so it's an extra trip back to the room to drop them off. They should just use cups you leave at the restaurant and they wash them.

Jon81ukFeb 28, 2020

They changed the mugs to not have handles about 3-4 years ago and due to complaints the traditional mugs returned in months. I visited during the cups-without-handles time and it annoyed me as I needed to use a cardboard cup holder so I could carry two cups back to the room, when they had handles it was easy to carry more than one mug all in one hand.
