Today is the last day for Disney+ subscribers to get a free dining plan with the purchase of a nondiscounted 4-night, 4-day Walt Disney Travel Company package that includes a room at a select Disney Resort hotel and a theme park ticket with a Park Hopper option—for arrivals most nights from July 1 to September 30, 2024. Packages may be available for longer lengths of stay.

Disney Dining Plan overview

Two Disney Dining Plans are available, the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan or the Disney Dining Plan. Each plan includes a certain number of meals and snacks based on the number of nights of your stay, and there are over 200 dining locations to choose from across all of Disney World. I was just looking at a few random menus and noticed they have certain items asterisked as "Not available on the Disney Dining Plan". Is that something new? I've never used the DDP nor had any interest in it, but I don't recall seeing such indications on the menus before. If it's new, I think that's a step in the right direction -- means restaurants would have the option to serve better dishes that aren't beholden to DDP margins.

According to an update on the Walt Disney World website, the Free Dining deal for Disney+ subscribers will be available to book through February 14, 2024.

Actually the room discount and dining plan came out very close for us. The factors that pushed us to the dining plan were it allows my toddler and kindergartener to have their own meals (they usually share), we get an extra character meal, we can utilize the park hopper which we hadn't bought the last trip (bonus time in Epcot after AK), and I don't have to do math at every dinner to see if we're on budget..my husband can have steak every meal. So we just get more out of the discount it doesn't necessarily save us much more than the room discount.

Let me guess it's probably around double the savings of a room discount assuming your eating habits match closely to the DDP (TS + QS) per day?

I’m eating my words. After running a lot of numbers, the dining actually works for us. I’m guessing it’s because we have 5 people who can fit in the 5th sleeper rooms. Also the kids like character meals. I ran it against room discount price and the bounce back I originally booked.

At this point and time we have a reservation in 2024 that is rack rate, no discounts out for it yet. If free dining was available, we would gladly take it.

I had either option for a 9 night trip. Unless I lucked into a bug, more is allowed.

Normally it is worded differently such as saying with a minimum of a 3 night stay. I think this is only for a 4/4 trip

You get the number of nights you have booked. It is not based on the ticket length (just need a minimum of 4 night and 4day ticket).

The DDP was worth it for me as we would do characters for breakfast & dinner so the numbers worked out. Again simple math when it comes to this especially when you are booking meals ahead of time. Add in a phone call to get the prices and its either worth it or not. Snacks obviously use for the more expensive ones now around the $6-7 range and its not rocket science. The new plan is virtually impossible to make work.

Ok… haven’t found a true answer anywhere and am honestly hesitant to ask Disney CS directly.. I have a 8 day/7 night resort stay but only a 5 day hopper. How many days of the free dining plan do I get?

We’re up there for character meals and same. It’s gotten way worse. Now moderates are QS dining. I feel like it used to be a decent deal if maxed out like 2012ish time but maybe I was naive then.
