The Jedi have returned to Disney-MGM Studios in full force for Star Wars Weekends in 2005 and event organizers responded today by announcing the park-wide sci-fi fest will be extended two additional weekends.
Originally scheduled to conclude June 12, Star Wars Weekends will continue the galactic fun June 17-19 and June 24-26. The event began May 20 and takes place each Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Disney-MGM Studios. Event activities are included with theme park admission.
This is the sixth year Star Wars Weekends has been held at Walt Disney World Resort and has quickly become one of the largest and most popular Star Wars fan events held anywhere in the world.
Buoyed by worldwide excitement surrounding the newest Star Wars film -- Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith -- Star Wars fans at Disney-MGM Studios made it clear they can't get enough of their favorite Jedi, Sith, Wookiees, Rodians and the galaxy of stars created by George Lucas.
"Our guests told us they want more Star Wars Weekends this year and we're looking forward to extending the fun through the end of June," said Linda Warren, executive vice president of Walt Disney World Marketing and Brand Management. "We work year-round with our friends at Lucasfilm to immerse guests in a Star Wars environment like no other. We're delighted they have responded so positively to the additions we've made this year to celebrate the newest Star Wars film."
