Disney has announced today that after more than 500 days of operating a virtual queue, TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom will offer a standby line beginning September 9, 2024.
A Lightning Lane Single Pass will continue to be offered at TRON Lightcycle Run as an alternative to the standby line, which is currently priced at $20 per guest.
Virtual queues will remain at Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT and Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom.
Until September 9, there remains 2 daily opportunities to request to join the virtual queue for TRON Lightcycle Run:
- 7:00 am (Guests do not need to be in Magic Kingdom to join the virtual queue at this time)
- 1:00 pm (Guests must be in Magic Kingdom to join the virtual queue at this time)
Since its debut, TRON Lightcycle Run has been one of the most popular attractions at Magic Kingdom. Inspired by the iconic TRON film series, the ride allows guests to board lightcycles and race through a digital landscape in a high-speed, adrenaline-pumping experience. Until now, access to this attraction has been limited to a virtual queue system and an Individual Lightning Lane purchase, both of which required advance planning and quick fingers on the My Disney Experience app.
The virtual queue system, first introduced for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney's Hollywood Studios, was implemented at TRON Lightcycle Run to manage the high demand and to ensure a smoother flow of guests through the attraction. Guests had to join the virtual queue at set times throughout the day, with spots often filling up in seconds. This system allowed Disney to control crowd levels and reduce wait times, but it also left some guests disappointed if they couldn't secure a boarding group.
Starting September 9, guests will have the option to join a traditional standby line for TRON Lightcycle Run, making it the first time a standard queue will be available for this attraction during regular park hours.
