Disney Live Entertainment is officially on the hunt for performers to bring the reimagined The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure to life at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. A casting call has been issued for full-time and sub roles for the new theatrical production, slated to debut in the summer of 2025.

Submissions will be accepted until December 11, 2024. Selected candidates will be notified by January 16, 2025, with in-person callbacks scheduled for January 29, 2025, in Orlando, FL. Rehearsals are expected to begin in March or April 2025.

The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure was initially slated to open in fall 2024, but was delayed until summer 2025. Disney had previously held casting for the show in February 2024.

The original Voyage of the Little Mermaid show, which premiered in 1992, closed its doors in 2020 amid the pandemic and did not return.

About the Show

Inspired by the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios classic The Little Mermaid, this live production will feature a fresh take on Ariel's journey to explore the human world. Guests can expect musical numbers inspired by the film, including iconic songs such as Part of Your World, Poor Unfortunate Souls, and Kiss the Girl. The show promises cutting-edge effects, imaginative set pieces, and a bold new design.

Disney is seeking performers for two lead roles:

Ariel

  • Height: 5'2" - 5'6"
  • Description: A spirited, curious, fun-loving mermaid princess with a lyrical pop soprano voice and the ability to belt up to C.
  • Audition Material: Part of Your World (Parts 1 and 2), with acting sides showcasing Ariel's wonder and determination.

Prince Eric

  • Height: 5'10" - 6'0"
  • Description: Charismatic and fearless, Eric is a true romantic searching for his heart's desire. This is a non-singing role.
  • Audition Material: Acting sides featuring Eric's passion for finding Ariel and defying expectations.

I wonder if the previous equity contracts were cancelled/terminated from the postponement and delay to next year. They already had the casts selected and rehearsals done back in August iirc. One the actors I follow on IG that was casted as Ariel found another gig, so maybe so.

I would assume those two will come soon.

We knew already this was delayed till Summer 2025..... Also, it took USF 20 Days after HHN to return their Nighttime Spectacular... CineSational should have been ready to go as soon as HHN ended like HEA.

And how much of these cheaper to produce products end up at character warehouse, CM stores and clearance sales because nobody wants them?

JD80Oct 18, 2024

Sure.

You mean, if they had an opportunity to make more profit. I don't think they stopped distinct products because it sold less, I think it's because it's much cheaper to produce the same stuff for everywhere.

But do they? They definitely figured out how to move lots of cheap unremarkable product, but I think they could move better quality things, and attraction specific merchandise better if the went back to a destination shopping model...instead of homogenous. Our spending in the shops has been pretty non-existent in the last 7 0r 8 years mostly because the offerings are not great, the shopping experience is not fun like it used to be... I don't think we are the only people that have experienced this and have curbed their spending....

I also dislike the homogenous shops all over property. But Disney knows merch so if there is an opportunity to sell more they will.
