Disney has posted audition notices for vocalists, actors, and puppeteers to perform at 'The Little Mermaid - A Musical Adventure' coming later this year to Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.

Among the roles being cast are Ariel and Prince Eric, with Ariel required to be a lyrical pop soprano with belt to C.

Disney recently announced that 'The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,' will be a fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic "The Little Mermaid," and will debut in the newly refreshed Animation Courtyard theater in fall 2024 at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Disney says that when it opens, the show will feature stunning new set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold new design that captures Ariel's imagination and emotions through her unique view of the world around her.

'The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure' will include musical numbers inspired by the film including "Part of Your World," "Poor Unfortunate Souls," and more.

The new show will replace the original Voyage of the Little Mermaid, which debuted on January 7, 1992, had its final performance in 2020 and did not reopen from the pandemic shutdown of Walt Disney World.

Animation Courtyard would be a better place for Monsters Inc...being adjacent to the Toy Story Pixar stuff...at least that would put the Pixar Studios properties together....and then they could create a Pixar Studios themed land running behind Sunset Blvd... Retheme RNRR to something Pixar... add a spinner and a new Pixar themed restaurant...but doing that would probably mean opening it in the mid to late 2030s....

Maybe they are still debating Monsters final location and has put Mermaid on hold until they decide.

Here's a first look at new costumes for the show:

The only reason it continues to stay is because the theater is too small to do anything else with it at this point. If it was any bigger you would have seen a replacement years ago.

This show WAS tired, but from what has been released so far, it looks like it is 100% a new show.

I feel the same way about BATB Live. Loved the movie as a kid, so to hear the songs performed live with amazing choreography is one of my favorite things to do at HS. And the dramatic reveal of Belle in her yellow dress with the timed music never fails. Realize I’m probably one of few around here that advocates for it, but would hate to see it go. Any replacement of the show would most likely see a downgrade in number of stage performers (sadly). It’s the one show that wasn’t cut down post-Covid with 20 performers on stage. Besides, HS needs more additions before any replacements, imo.

I’m also among its rare fans. It was actually one of my favourite things to see in all of WDW. I’m very glad they decided not to scrap it after all.
