Disney survey hints at boutique Star Wars Resort with premium experiences

Disney's Star Wars Land may be getting more than just two rides, a restaurant and shops - at least at Walt Disney World. In a recent survey, an outline of an immersive Star Wars Resort experience is presented, aimed at taking premium experiences to the next level.

The experience would take place in a Starship themed boutique-style hotel, including a pool, and on-board cantina.

Describing the offering as an "all-inclusive, 2 night immersive resort experience at Walt Disney World," it continues to say that it would include:

The opportunity to experience a 2-day story set in the Star Wars universe:

Be surrounded in a continuous, story-driven entertainment experience as it unfolds over the course of the 2-night stay
Have personal interactions with Star Wars characters and live performers throughout the starship
Impact and experience the story or simply observe the action according to personal preference
Engage in the story with programs such as flight training, ship exploration, lightsaber training, and personalized secret missions (both on the starship and throughout the Star Wars themed planet)

Pricing is noted as $900 - $1000 per person, and includes breakfast, lunch, table service dinner, live entertainment, and access to the Star Wars themed land at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The addition of some type of hotel space has been frequently rumored for Star Wars Land at Walt Disney World, with the park having ample space in the surrounding area to build such a venue.

Disney frequently surveys guests about possible concepts, with many becoming reality, and others never seeing the light of day. In the hotel space, one such example that did not come to fruition was the Haunted Mansion themed resort rooms. During the development of the Tower of Terror in the early 90's, the idea of making part of the hotel usable as guest accommodations was strongly considered, but ultimately was rejected.

However, the immense popularity of Star Wars and the scale of investment in the property would suggest this concept has a very good chance of becoming reality.

Because they can't maintain the immersion anyway in the parks. Why bother to keep that story going on the trip to/from the park? The concept was you'd be in the park with every other day guest. And it's a place you can freely visit outside of the Star Wars resort package. It's not part of the idea that you are anywhere but at dhs. You can easily be transported to/from dhs like every other wdw resort guest. There is no need to have the resort near DHS. A nice to have... but not a need for the concept as pitched.

Is this being designed for families with small children or will people in their 30s be able to enjoy this as well? I want something Star Wars immersive for the hardcore adult Star Wars fans. I'll pay top dollar for it too.

I still don't think the trip to the park would be themed or any different from visiting the park from any other resort. The extras offered were just a perk offered as part of the package purchase and would be on a set schedule. They didn't really project anything more than that.

It should probably be a terrestrial location (the resort theme). I could see them doing it all internalized around a spaceport. That way they could allow natural light in and have a bunch of themed experiences without the outside world breaking the magic. Then... as stated there would be a tram or something that runs on a special track and takes you to the park. Perhaps the resort location is on the other side of world drive.

Yeah, the Hogwarts Express is my favorite ride out of the Harry Potter attractions, probably my third or fourth favorite across the Universal parks. I would love to see something similar at Star Wars Land. But I would also kind of love to see Star Tours serve a similar function like that, if they were willing to move it.

I'm sure there are some who love HE. That doesn't change my hope that we don't end up with something similar for SWL. WDW can do better ... much better.
