Variety reports that The Muppets Mayhem has been canceled after only one season on the Disney+ streaming platform.

The Muppets Mayhem debuted on Disney+ in May 2023, and Jeff Yorkes, co-creator, added weight to speculation that a Muppets Mayhem makeover may be coming to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Posting on Twitter in response to a June 2023 article discussing the rumor, Yorkes said, "Not gonna lie-- this was absolutely part of our original pitch and is another piece of this dream. Fingers-crossed that it happens."

With the show's reported cancellation, it would now seem very unlikely that the Muppets Mayhem would have been part of any retheme of the hugely popular coaster.

Speculation has surrounded Aeromsith's involvement with Rock 'n' Roller Coaster for years, and recent accusations against frontman Steve Tyler have intensified rumors of a replacement for the band.

The rollercoaster is one of Walt Disney World's most popular thrill rides and has recently reopened from a lengthy refurbishment. Work took place on the ride system and improvements to lighting, but the show remained unchanged, staying with the Aerosmith concert storyline.

Disney has yet to make any comment on any planned changes to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

Probz will end up being our Incredicoaster, what with Incredibles 3 being announced at D23

Yeah, even if re-skinning the trains themselves wouldn't be particularly high-budget, a big associated cost would be changing the whole "alley" scene - unless the new vehicle theme were something else that makes sense in an alley!

My thought is that for budgetary reasons Disney would probably prefer to not reskin the cars. The car thing actually works quite well for me.

Changing the vehicle decor (not necessarily the complete design) is actually one of the changes I do hope they make, though. Being asked to pretend that a pretty standard coaster train on a visible track is actually a car just feels way too “Six Flags” and not immersive enough. And of course, the same goes for the cartoon flats in the gravity building. Even “auto-theming” it as a band’s roller coaster creation (a la the version they had at WDSP) would be a huge step up in immersion (though obviously still suboptimal), IMHO.

Whatever they would do, I'd imagine they would prefer to keep the cars they have. So something where a limo works with the theme.

I believe the thinking is that’s the quick/cheap option, and would simultaneously have a lot of appeal if replaced with a popular artist/band, plus the ride seems designed to have the artist/band swapped out. That said, I don’t see too much precedent for something like this—unless maybe you count Star Tours 2.0 and what they’re now doing with Smuggler’s Run, and perhaps Soarin’, and maybe Test Track? But 3/4 of those are screen-based, and the fourth is a sponsor-related reason. If RnRC is truly re-themed, I just hope it doesn’t damage the visuals of Sunset Boulevard and the experience of approaching Tower of Terror. The original RnRC designers were so careful to make sure it was set back from the boulevard, didn’t detract from ToT, etc. I hope the current Imagineers and management understand how valuable that is.

Just a thought - why are people so sure that when/if the Aerosmith tie-in goes the coaster will still be music-themed and called Rock 'n Roller Coaster?

I could see Powerline working. I'd be curious to know how popular A Goofy Movie (1995) is on Disney Plus. But I see a fair bit of fan merchandise on guests in the parks, and it does kind of seem like something that the modern Disney company might do. I mostly think it is unlikely, though.

Powerline?

Love Aerosmith and would be said to see it go. But just retheme this thing to Powerline and be done with it already.

I feel like Phineas & Ferb's boundless imagination, inventiveness, creativity, and optimism makes them a good fit for epcot. I've always pictured them as a great compliment to a new Figment ride in a renovated Imagination Pavilion. They could take over the Magic Eye Theater (either for a new show or use that space for a second ride in the pavilion) That being said, a Rollercoaster would be fun and at this point the demographic skews older (it always kind of did tbh, not many toddler shows crossed over with Shaun of the Dead). But I still don't see it going here. My money's on a fictional band for a low budget change (Electric Mayhem, Powerline, the general concept of Rock and Roll, etc). IncrediCoaster for a mid-budget change. Or just demolish it once Monsters is open and build a new small land using its space and the Racing Academy theater for a large budget change

I honestly half-expect it to be Phineas and Ferb too, height requirement be darned.

Turns out off the top of my head wasn't super accurate. ToT being the biggest one.
