Disney has officially announced that Muppets Courtyard will be the site for the new Monsters, Inc. land at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This decision marks a significant change for the park, as the beloved MuppetVision 3D and surrounding areas will be replaced to make way for the new land.

The choice of Muppets Courtyard comes after months of speculation following the Monsters, Inc. land announcement at D23 2024, with both Muppets Courtyard and Animation Courtyard being considered as potential sites. Despite recent signs that Animation Courtyard might be a strong contender, Disney has ultimately decided to repurpose Muppets Courtyard for this major new addition which will include the highly anticipated suspended door coaster.

The redevelopment will involve the closure of MuppetVision 3D, as well as the transformation of nearby restaurants such as Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano, PizzeRizzo, and the surrounding shops. Disney has not yet given a closing date, but a construction on Monsters, Inc. is planned to begin in 2025.

In a short statement about the future of MuppetVision 3D, Disney said, "As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future."

Disney also announced today that the Muppets will takeover Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, where they will be "teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!"

Disney says the new Monsters, Inc. land will be a living, breathing, and not-at-all-scary Monsters-inspired area where you'll be able to stroll the streets alongside some of your favorite monsters.

Picking up after the events of Pixar Animation Studios' beloved film, humans have now been invited to visit the world of Monsters, Inc. — and the monsters need laughter to power the city and keep it running smoothly. But it's not a true visit without the factory itself. You'll be able to see the sights, hear the laughs and zoom through the building just like James P. Sullivan (a.k.a. Sulley) and Mike Wazowski — via a door!

You'll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. The coaster will put you right in the middle of the monster action.

You obviously didn't read what is coming and you're now spreading misinformation to cause more unneeded chaos. A roller coaster is NOT replacing Muppet*Vision. A roller coaster is being ADDED to this land. A BRAND NEW show is replacing Muppet*Vision and will still be accessible to everyone. Whether or not the brand new Monsters Inc. show is better/as good/worse than Muppet*Vision is the only thing we don't know.

Oh gotcha, didn't know that. I assumed it was another stage show haha. That said, I'd still rather MV go there

I'll be pretty surprised if this isn't what happens, especially with a new CEO in 2026 (potentially). It's why I didn't want them to get rid of MV3D without Animation Courtyard also under construction for something else. This is a much better plan than just swapping MV3D for the Door Coaster -- which would have made the park worse -- so it's nowhere near as bad as it could have been, but this still isn't going to be especially helpful for DHS. They need an Animation Courtyard replacement ASAP and instead it's likely going to sit untouched for a decade+.

Those two thoughts are not in agreement. He's not a journalist otherwise he'd report like one. He's confidently incorrect, but it does drive clicks

Hot take.

Unless something changed, it's not live-action. It's video like the Lightning McQueen Academy.

It's a roller coaster, that in itself will be a draw. There will be a recency bias when it first opens, and then I imagine it's wait times will fall in line with the original. My daughter is about 43 inches tall and turns 5 in two months. I'm guessing she gets to 48 inches before high school. Not really my thing. With that said, if they do it, it would have to be a different ride (or rides). If they're opening up that large an area for some crayola box theming and one attraction, that's eerily similar in layout to Runaway Railway, they've made a mistake.

They are all movies...

Hey, wait a second, why aren't they putting the new Villains show in the B&tB theater that's literally right next to the walkway for Fantasmic, a villains themed show? That makes way more sense than putting it next to a Muppets coaster. MV3D could easily move to SS instead

So now when they announce Zootopia in the Animation Courtyard, Zootopia will have a relatively new Little Mermaid Show at it's entrance...

Does it come with a ticket to Epic Universe too? 🤔
