The Millennium Village, the cultural epicenter for Epcot`s 15-month celebration, will turn into something more mundane next year: meeting space. The Village -- which showcases the people and cultures from more than 25 different countries through a series of interactive exhibits, entertainment and "ambassadors" -- will be converted next summer into a 40,000-square-foot group meeting center called World ShowPlace.
Disney said the building, in World Showcase between the United Kingdom and Canada pavilions, will be the largest ever inside a theme park. The complex will accommodate 4,000 people and have a banquet kitchen and a backstage entrance with a private guest drop-off.
"Epcot provides a truly unique setting for this one-of-a-kind facility," said George Aguel, vice president for Disney Vacation Development. "There is no better place for a forum dedicated to meetings, entertainment and memorable occasions."
