A brand-new story featuring Mando and his youngling is coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run alongside the "The Mandalorian and Grogu" movie in 2026.

During Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Star Wars creative executive Dave Filoni joined Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro onstage to discuss the upcoming addition to the attraction in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.

Dave explained that the Lucasfilm team uses Epic's Unreal Engine to create some of the virtual sets for "The Mandalorian." Now, with the expanded partnership between Disney and Epic Games, Epic's Unreal Engine will help bring to life the latest adventure in a galaxy far, far away.

"The intersection of storytelling and innovation has always been central to Lucasfilm and we're excited to see where this collaboration will take us next," Dave told the crowd. "Just imagine it: you'll be able to fly alongside Mando and Grogu on thrilling, and dangerous, missions."

So glad something new is coming to this ride, it’s felt stagnant for awhile now.

As far as we know, Mando and Grogu are still alive in the sequel era. This addition doesn't explicitly mean they are changing the timeframe of the ride.

its a darn videogame ride, they should be able to add new levels every year lol.

They could have had this done by the end of 2023. But sure, “synergy” is always the excuse for stupid management decisions.

Timeline probably factors in the filming/production schedule — eg unlikely to touch the CGI work until the feature film is in the can — along with supporting a cadence of new things in the multi-year calendar.

I was thinking the same thing. This seems like something they could’ve been working on for a while to announce for almost immediate implementation. Aside from what Hondo says, this wouldn’t seem to require any major structural changes.

2026 seems like so far away to add a new mission, but don't know how long it would take to program a new mission

I think they will (slowly) bring in the OT characters. I think the hard continuity is clearly going away. Would not be surprised if the next SW is OT era set. That may go outside of Galaxy's Edge.

If they're included that means Han Solo, Luke, Leia, and the gang are still around. No, I wouldn't expect to see them but would be interesting to know how Mando and Grogu are now in Han's ship. The current version is set in the sequel era.

So is the GE timeline broken? Should we expect that Prequel trilogy reskin of Rise to come any year now with a jaw-dropping, state of the art Grievous AA instead of Kylo?

Your mission: Help out Mando and Grogu by hijacking a First Order transport train and steal a shipment of valuable coaxium. ;)

They’re finally doing exactly what we want 🤞🏻 for the trend to continue for Epcot’s 40th

Agree but real low hanging fruit. Should have been already by now. Actually there should be multiple missions and randomization

I remember what was compelling about this attraction was the ability to switch out different storylines like Star Tours. Kind of wild this is the first time they are doing it for this ride. Happy nonetheless. Probably also testing how Mando is received in the parks besides meet and greet. They know the sequel trilogy isn’t moving merchandise or much of a draw anymore.
