The effort put in the architecture and artwork is fantastic. It outshines the fact that sleeping tigers are boring to watch, just as in any zoo. Anyway, makes for a nice stroll. Your mileage may vary.
Of the two trails, I would say this is the best one. Not only are the signature Tiger's included, but you get to see komodo dragons along the way. These are amazing creatures (and BIG) a sight to behold when the biggest lizard you've seen is a garden gecko. The themeing is well done and is a nice relaxing walking tour of some of Asia's wonderful animals.
The trail has many animals along its course. The tigers are the best exhibit but the Komodo Dragon is cool as well. It has a unique room filled with bats and a bird sanctuary as well. The Maharajah trail is a good place for a walk. It isn't usually too crowded either.
This trail is full of animals for you to see and is beautifully decorated. I would not miss this if you go to Animal Kingdom. This and the Pagani trail are one of the best animal exhibits anywhere.
At a regular zoo, you'll walk along an ordinary concrete road lined with cages or individual themed habitats that have a few rocks, tree stumps, some patches of grass. Disney designs circles around the typical zoo experience by theming the areas between the habitats as if you are really somewhere in the wild (yeah, of course the concrete road is still there, but it's windy like an actual trail). The habitats themselves are better designed and far more lush than the dirt and rocks at the zoo. Don't forget to stop by the bat house where you can see the bats without a barrier between you and the bat.
This is what makes Animal Kingdon so good --the Animals. The atmosphere is great. It is done to perfection. Without it you would feel like it you were walking through a zoo.
HARD TO BELIEVE YOUR IN FLA. DISNEY HAS GIVEN THIS AN ASIAN FLAVOR THAT IS SO REALIST THAT I FELT LIKE I WAS IN AN ASIAN COUNTRY. THE TIGERS WERE BEAUTIFUL AND LOOKED SO PEACEFUL.I WOULD DO THIS WHEN THE WAIT TIMES ARE LONG AT THE OTHER ATTRACTIONS
If there are two things that the Animal Kingdom is good at, they are providing amazing theming and unbelievable animal experiences. This has both. Beautiful settings of Asian palaces and hunting grounds complement the exotic animals, especially the tigers so well that it defiantly tops Africa's Pangani Forest by sheer beauty alone. If you only have time to see one animal trail at the park, see this one.
The Maharajah jungle trek is my favorite attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom. It's a trek through ancient ruins that have become the home to many Asian animals, including tigers. The atmosphere is incredible. The cast members along the trails are very friendly and informative. I consider this a must do attraction. We always visit first thing in the morning after getting a fast pass for Kilimanjaro Safaris. It's still relatively cool then, almost deserted, and wonderfully peaceful. It's a great place to escape the hustle and bustle.
