Magic Kingdom has nearly fully reopened after half of the park was closed earlier today due to a bear taking up residence in Frontierland tree.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed that a bear was occupying a tree near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland. Disney did not make any official comment regarding the situation, but reopened most of the closed areas at 12:30pm. Currently, the Walt Disney World Railroad and Tom Sawyer Island remain closed.
Cast Members noticed the bear before the park opened to guests this morning, which meant that the areas did not have to be cleared of guests and were kept closed when the rest of the park opened at 9 am.
Closed attractions included Big Thunder Mountain, Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Swiss Family Tree House, Under the Sea - Journey of The Little Mermaid ,Walt Disney World Railroad, Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, bears can be found almost anywhere in Florida, they prefer a mixture of flatwoods, swamps, scrub oak ridges, bayheads, and hammock habitats. The area they roam in search of food, water, and adequate cover.
Teams from the FFWC assisted Disney in relocating the bear from the park.
