The Houston Astros’ World Series victory celebration made its way from coast to coast Saturday, culminating in a colorful parade at Walt Disney World Resort that saluted the team’s first world title in its 56-year history.

After clinching the World Series championship in Los Angeles on Wednesday and then taking part in a citywide party in Houston on Friday, Astros star players George Springer (World Series MVP), newly engaged Carlos Correa and American League batting champion Jose Altuve brought the party to Magic Kingdom Park. They signed autographs, posed for selfies with fans and experienced signature Disney attractions – of course they checked out Astro Orbiter – during a whirlwind celebration that personified the amazing power of magic that only happens at Disney Parks.

Then, in front of thousands of enthusiastic fans who lined one of the most famous streets in the world – Main Street, U.S.A., at Magic Kingdom Park – Springer, Altuve and Correa got a one-of-a kind ride atop a magical parade float surrounded by a sea of balloons, confetti and celebratory cheers.

Afterwards, the players and their families joined Mickey Mouse and his pals – who all happened to be perfectly dressed for the occasion in their classic baseball uniforms – for photos in front of the iconic Cinderella Castle. It was a day the Houston trio, their family and their fans likely won’t soon forget.

“It’s been an amazing day,” said Astros shortstop Carlos Correa. “I feel like a kid all over again getting to go to Disney World and spending time with all of these people here who are supporting us and celebrating the (World Series) championship with us. I will never forget the people cheering and crying during the parade. It was the best thing ever and a memory I will never forget.”

The spectacular Disney scene was the culmination of a long-awaited dream for the Astros and the city of Houston which supported the team for 56 years despite never winning a World Series title – and throughout the recent hurricane and subsequent flooding that devastated the city. A bright spot emerged Wednesday night with Houston’s series-winning Game 7 win that propelled the club, its city and its fans to the top of the baseball universe. And to the most magical place on earth.

Their appearance at Disney continued a long and popular tradition of celebrating the world’s greatest sports and entertainment achievements at Disney Parks, a beloved ritual that dates back to 1987. Springer, Correa and Altuve are now among a star-studded lineup of sports heroes – from Super Bowls, NBA Championships, Olympic Games, Stanley Cup championships and so many more – who have celebrated milestone accomplishments by “Going to Disney World!”

considering the fact the Astros destroyed him in the world series. and you got to figure the Yankees are going to throw a GDP of a small country at him.

Based on what? He's a free agent, has he indicated he wants to stay with LA and/or go to another team.

Brainleech419Nov 06, 2017

not sure Darvish would want to sign

RSoxNo1Nov 06, 2017

They're a great team. Nearly every important piece is coming back, and if they wanted to, they could go get Darvish.

I'm hoping no, but I think you may be right.

From Wiki - "In his 1998 memoir Work in Progress, Disney CEO Michael Eisner credited his wife, Jane, with the idea for the campaign. According to Eisner, during the January 1987 grand opening for the Star Tours attraction at Disneyland, the couple dined with D!ck Rutan and Jeana Yeager, who in December 1986 had piloted the first aircraft to fly around the world without stopping or refueling. After Jane Eisner asked what the pilots planned to do next, they replied, "Well, we're going to Disneyland." She later told her husband the phrase would make a great advertising campaign. Weeks later, Disney launched the series following [URL='https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XXI']Super Bowl XXI on January 25, 1987 with a commercial featuring [URL='https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Giants']New York Giants [URL='https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarterback']quarterback [URL='https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Simms']Phil Simms. Simms was paid a reported $75,000 for his participation. The company later aired three more ads that year with other athletes following major sports championships."

The 'Stros are a scary team. I believe all of their stars are under their control until 19. Highly possible that we see them parading down Main Street again next year.

DisneyJayLNov 05, 2017

Didn’t they go with that when someone said it after the Super Bowl?

LAKid53Nov 05, 2017

Angels in 2002. But then, they are the hometown team, since they play in Anaheim.... Interesting trivia. This was started by Eisner from a suggestion of his wife. Edit: I have an issue with their new name (okay, not so new chronologically). I know the history of the team. But dang, other than when they actually played in LA in the old PCL, they've not been in LA since 1957, a year before the Dodgers moved from Brooklyn to LA. They started playing in Anaheim stadium in 1966. Either go back to the California Angels or be the Anaheim Angels. Because you aren't in LA, either the city or county..... But then, the 49ers no longer play in SF, either. But Santa Clara Niners just doesn't sound right.

Darvish apologized for his horrible pitching in Game 7 that cost us the game. What a class act. How many MLB pitchers would do that?

DisneyJayLNov 05, 2017

Just about to say. Do they ever go to DL for any of these?

LAKid53Nov 05, 2017

This Dodgers fan is with you, bro....... Really wanted a Dodgers-Yankee series. Some of the best...and the classic matchup. But yeah, the Astros were for real.

Kylo KenNov 04, 2017

As a Yankees fan, it pains me to say this...congrats Astros. P.S. the park isn't as crowded as people would think it is

LAKid53Nov 04, 2017

And I picked a great day to visit MK after the W&D 10k - filming for the Disney Christmas show starts in the MK today...and the Astros parade. Maybe I should wear my Dodgers shirt.....
