Walt Disney World's Jungle Cruise Set for Summer 2024 Refurbishment

According to the latest Walt Disney World calendar update, the Magic Kingdom's Jungle Cruise will close for refurbishment later this summer.

The Jungle Cruise closure begins on August 26, 2024, and continues through at least September 17, 2024, as far as the current calendar goes.

While we don't expect any show changes during the closure, several permits were recently filed, including one with contractor Underwater Enginerring Services, Inc.

Although the Jungle Cruise's show scenes have recently been updated, the ride has not been closed for refurbishment since 2017.

We also expect Big Thunder Mountain to close soon for refurbishment, which could leave the Magic Kingdom without two of its major high-capacity attractions in September. Dates for the Big Thunder closure are not yet available.

Feels like they are "painting" what would actually happen without regular maintenance to clean off the algae and mold. Maybe this, and the new pavement is a way to hide lack of maitenance in a "themed" way

any changes to the temple scene?

I think that may be it - It’s too high up the rocks. Half as high and it looks great. Where it is looks like amateur hour. It should be much lower to the waterline.

You riding it isn’t going to change what my eyes are telling me.

If someone told me the rock was hulking up I would think of the wrestler/actor but this is not what I had in mind. That is a lot of green and yellow. Reminds me of my pool right now after the hurricane. That rock looks like its badly in need of algecide. I would actually be concerned about getting splashed with that water. It looks really nasty now.

Rode it yesterday. Looks fine.

I agree. The algae creep coloration is fine but it's progressed too far up the rockwork. The execution is too clean and uniform. If they'd dialed it back about 50% it'd have been more successful. Less is more. Short of redoing areas, bringing in foliage would help balance it out. It's comparable to real life but it's still jarring.

>Post full of Rock puns >people on topic (me included) are horrified of TJC getting an IP placement akin to Depp in Pirates with The Rock in the ride >turns out the post literally meant actual rocks yeah, this one is a classic

Too Neverland-y. It’ll work by next summer though and look good for years until it’s painted again.

Agreed, I really am not a fan of it. But maybe it’s just that it’s so bright now and once it fades in the sun it’ll look better

Something about the green on the rocks looks... off. Can't put my finger on what exactly, though.
