The Frontierland Shootin' Arcade at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom will permanently close at the end of June 23, 2024 to make way for a new Disney Vacation Club Member Lounge.

Disney announced in early January that construction on a brand-new Disney Vacation Club Member Lounge in an unspecified location will begin in 2024 at Walt Disney World. Disney said the new lounge "will be a great place for members to relax and recharge during their day of fun!"

The Frontierland Shootin' Arcade is a classic attraction located in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. Opened in 1971, this interactive experience allows guests to test their marksmanship skills in a Wild West-themed setting. The arcade features over 90 targets, each triggering different animated effects when hit. Using replica rifles, guests aim at targets such as bottles, tombstones, and animals in a detailed Old West scene. The attraction operated on a pay-per-play basis, but is now free.

The Frontierland Shootin' Arcade was previously expected to close in 2021 when its operating hours were dropped from the calendar and a switch of the arcade into a free play mode. That turned out to be a false alarm, and the arcade continued to operate as normal.

In addition to the new DVC lounge, a number of changes are in store for Frontierland, including the new Country Bears Musical Jamboree opening this summer, and a likely retheme of Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe into a Princess and the Frog tie-in with the nearby Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

Disney recently said in a post on its official blog, "Hold your horses, we're not done yet. We have a lot of growth and investment planned for our theme parks in the coming years and look forward to sharing more announcements about Frontierland … so y'all come back now, ya hear?"

Don't get too excited. Remember, EPCOT was supposed to look like this: We'll see how the final product turns out.

Surprised they put a smidge of effort into this, I was expecting something along the lines of the new Fort Wilderness cabins, so at least an attempt to match the theming was a surprise. Though the bar is low at this point.

Just spotted that this piece of concept art for Western River Expedition seems to be on the wall

They said New Frontierland, not better. It's all subjective on whether or not you like the updates, but once this project is finished, Frontierland will look very different to what it did in 2022. The only thing that isn't receiving any updates seems to be Frontierland Trading Company and Pecos Bill's retheme seems to have gone very quiet

Thank you for showing this, because most of us unwashed masses won't ever see the inside of that thing. Us peasants that only drop $5000-$10000 on WDW vacations in a year aren't good enough for this lounge.

I see what you mean but Country Bears is MUCH better off now than it was before the redo. You can not like the new show but they completed refurbished the theater and restored the animatronics and people have renewed interest in the show and the bears get to stick around for a while. The theater is actually full now and isn't empty like it used to be. Whether you like the new show or not it's definitely not worse off than it was.

You have to remember that these are all opinions. There are people who like Tiana’s more than Splash. There are people who like CBMJ better than the original. There are people who would rather have Cars attractions than TSI or River views. “New Frontierland” may not work for some people, but it will breathe some new life into that corner of the park for others.

I saw someone mention “New Frontierland” a few posts above. Each attraction except for BTM will be worse off than it was 4 years ago. Splash Mountain? Inferior replacement. Country Bears? Inferior replacement. TSI? Destroyed. Shooting Arcade? Replaced by a DVC lounge. The only improvement has been the menu at Pecos Bill’s. To top it all off, the beautiful view of the river will be destroyed.

More likely to raise the rate to make it look "special" - marketing 101

The cabins flopped? Let’s have some deep discounts and I’ll think about it!
