Work has been ongoing over the last year in the area, with new curbing, planters, and walkways being built.

Disney has yet to confirm what the new area will be used for, but its proximity to the festival space at CommuniCore Hall/Plaza suggests it will continue to be used for festival kiosks as it has in the past.
