Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are facing significant wait times today as the parks are packed ahead of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.

Guests at Disney's Hollywood Studios are faced with long waits today

As of 5 pm this evening, Slinky Dog Dash leads the wait times at 200 minutes, followed by Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster at 165 minutes.

Star Wars Rise of the Resistance has a 145-minute wait, with Toy Story Mania and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway both at 125 minutes.

Crowds are also heavy at the other Walt Disney World parks. AVATAR Flight of Passage at Disney's Animal Kingdom has a 155-minute wait, EPCOT's Remy's Ratatouille Adventure is at 135 minutes, and Magic Kingdom's Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at 120 minutes.

AVATAR Flight of Passage has a 2.5 hour wait this evening

The long waits should not be a great surprise, given that the weekend is at capacity for Passholder park reservations.

The Walt Disney World Marathon was initially conceived to bring more guests into a traditionally tranquil time at Walt Disney World after the holidays. Still, the period now seems to be one to plan to avoid.

Now that Epcot is "finished" (if you want to call it that), this park and Animal Kingdom both desperately need some more love. SW:GE and TSL were not enough to fill out this park. They need to execute on the DinoLand redo at AK AND pull off some new additions (ideally to Animation Courtyard and Echo Lake / Muppets Courtyard areas).

I think the drop will take another week and a half. The way everything fell this year had marathon weekend right against New Year's because this coming weekend will already be MLK weekend. I sense Wednesday 1/17 as the first day where everyone in WDW ops can truly breathe, and the week of 1/22 - 1/26 as the first full slow, offseason week WDW will have seen since before Thanksgiving. I also don't know why they didn't hold off on the RnRC closure until next Tuesday to allow for extra capacity this coming MLK weekend. It's not like they are trying to get it back open for President's Day weekend, Spring Break or Easter. Might as well run it one more week and at least have it open for one of the first four busy weekends of the new year.

Wait for the 12 month period. The wear items will begin to fail. If preventative/predictive maintenance have not been performed on a regular and routine basis, downtime will begin to increase.

Yep this trip has solidified for me that WDW is indeed the greatest theme park resort in the world. The amount of things to do is simply unparalleled anywhere else, even if individual parks at other resorts may be superior (Disneyland CA is still number one park in the world for me)

There’s a slight tendency towards people having gone a bit too frequently and burning themselves out on this forum. When you are on such a macro scale like ten years, WDW actually has 11 new rides for you (including some of Disneys’ best), new resort transportation, a drastically revitalized Disney Springs, new night shows and most parks have overhauled their entrances, security and hubs. Contrast to pedestaled Tokyo surprisingly only being up three (for the moment) in a decade. I think I’m counting those right, at least.
