At today's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Panasonic and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts announced today that Panasonic Projection Imaging Systems will be the “Official Projection Technology” of Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.

The announcement included mention that Panasonic projection technology will be featured in the Na'vi River Journey at the upcoming, Pandora – The World of Avatar, opening Summer 2017 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

As part of a long-term agreement, Disney's domestic theme parks will have access to the latest in Panasonic’s projectors with advanced image processing and lens solutions.

“Panasonic is delighted to work with Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort in exploring new ways in which its high-performance projectors may be used to support the Disney storytelling that has captured the hearts of millions of guests who have visited these iconic vacation destinations,” said Panasonic AVC Networks Company President Yasuji Enokido. “The Panasonic brand has earned the trust of generations and today we have a fresh technology vision to support the creativity and innovation of the Disney theme parks in the U.S.”

Panasonic projectors already power effects in a number of attractions, including Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland Park; Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure Park; Haunted Mansion and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park; Frozen Ever After and Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros at Epcot.

EPCOT Center's 1993 New Years Eve celebration.

Yeah but I would say for now until Panasonic makes a large format projector that can output 40,000lm the big outdoor projections would still use Christie.

Nice! I hope they explore some impressive technology that Panasonic has developed in the past. Several years back, Panasonic developed a large-scale autostereoscopic display. It relied on the parallax effect, which is both a huge step toward realism and a very equipment-intensive obstacle. However, it could work great for theme park applications, like in Star Tours.

Now how about forgetting the next projection mapping show that are already becoming long in the tooth and giving AmAd the digital projection its so sorely need for years before 2018? And yes, the Avboat will have a bucket load of projection.

And Christie went with Universal.

Except for all the icon projection shows presumably.. Panasonic doesn't have a bright enough large format 4k projector Christie's are what they have for those now.
