It has been just over a month since Disney suddenly introduced metal detectors at the parks ahead of the busy holiday season, and now their operation is transferring to Disney Security.
Private security firm CSC was originally handling the operation of the metal detectors and screening of guests. Beginning with Disney's Animal Kingdom, the detectors are now operated by Disney's own in-house security Cast Members.
Guests are randomly selected to be screened at the metal detectors at the park bag check, which are still housed under temporary canopies. The transfer of control to Disney's own security would seem to suggest that they are here to stay, and presumably more permanent structures will be built at each park entrance.
