September 2024
Enjoy a prix fixed dinner at some of Orlando's most interesting restaurants for just $33 throughout September.
We ended up eating at this restaurant after we went to the Swan and Dolphin on a whim. It's very nice atmosphere, nice lounge/bar area, cozy with a nice view of the outside courtyard area. We had a great meal, as always is Disney, little pricey, but it was great over all. They offered us free Limoncello at the end of our meal...not my favorite. Very acidic and sweet. But overall it was romantic, nice decor.
I had made reservations for our 26th anniversary dinner and I am sorry I did. When I made the advance reservations I was asked if we were celebrating anything and of course I told them. I guessed they would do a little something to acknowledge it, why else would you ask,but NOTHING. I feel they are so caught up in trying to be pompous, they forget the little things. when we were seated the young lady made a point of saying she would get a black napkin for my husband-never to be seen again. we had to ask the server for a napkin and he was given an off white one that was on the table to begin with. very cold environment with average food.
Il Mulino opened a few years ago at the Walt Disney World Swan, and I finally got a chance to experience it. Firstly, before I get into the details, I have to say - what a great experience. The service, food, and dining room were all impeccable. Now onto the details of this Italian restaurant. - The Dining Room The place has a wonderful feel. There is an open kitchen, wood panels, comfy leather chairs, brickwork, great decoration, and perfect lighting. It feels and looks like the upscale signature dining experience that it is. There is a large bar area, and a dining room sectioned into smaller areas, including tabes and booths. - The Service Our servers were absolutely wonderful. Incredibly attentive, knowledgable - they were really beyond fault. Probably the best service I have ever received at any WDW restaurant. The pacing of the service was perfect. We were never left waiting, but enough time between courses to not feel rushed. The servers worked as a team, and we were regularly served by 3 members of staff. - The Food To get you in the mood, compliments of the house, you are served a bread selection and eggplant/sausage dish. I had the Carpaccio Di Carne for appetizer, which was excellent. For the entree, I went with a 10oz Fillet steak with mushroom sauce and roasted potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked (medium), tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned and topped with mushrooms. Le Cellier and the Yachstman get a lot of high praise, but for me, the Il Mulion steak is the best of the bunch. To round things off, I had a Tartufo for dessert, big enough for sharing, and very nicely prepared. The menu is large and diverse, and there is something on there for everyone. Be it Fish, chicken, vegetable or beef based dishes. - Cost It's not cheap, but it is a signature dining location. A meal for two, including alcohol, is probably going to run around $150. It's special occasion dining, and the price reflects that, but so does the quality. -Overall Il Mulino is not one of the restaurants that often springs to mind when talking great dining at Disney, but it certainly should be. Give this one a go next time you are looking for some top rate dining at Walt Disney World and I'm sure you wont be disappointed. I highly recommend it, and look forward to returning.
